Not too many reputable links outside of Plettenberg mentioning Yildiz as a target. Does anyone follow Juve/Serie A to know much about Yildiz? I can honestly say that I know next to nothing about him, but with the transfer window opening in a month, I thought I'd get some of the muppet juices flowing. @devilish you watch a ton of Serie A as I'm sure @Invictus would. How do you rate this lad & what would Juventus be looking at if they were selling?

Yildiz is a top tier talent. Juve will never let him go for anything less than bank breaking fees.
Until the next time they have a look at the books and decide they need to perform questionable FFP dodging swap deal #73.

From what I've seen from him this season he's been impressive. Turkey were a great watch in the Nation's League thanks to him and Kerem Aktürkoglu in particular.

He is being hyped as the new Del Piero. Even doing his iconic celebration. No way we get him for anything less than £100 million. We need a striker and central midfielder as priorities. No way this transfer happens

Juventus doesn't want to sell and he doesn't want to leave. I believe that these are the early shots fired for zirkzee. Motta would probably want him there. Unfortunately Juventus has a tendency to negotiate on their terms and after pogba's mess they think that we are stupid. Thus they either ask for a loan or they would want to saddle vlahovic to us

Dunno what to make of this, to be honest. While Yıldız is a good talent and a good theoretical fit for Amorim's “idea”, I'm not sure he is who we should be prioritizing, considering what Juventus will demand.

He is capable of playing pretty football, but this profile of player (i.e., up-and-coming, very much a work in progress and not the most productive for the time being) should be signed on favorable terms, not when they are on a long contract at a major club (according to Transfermarkt, his current contract expires in 2029). Exceptions should only be made for exceptional talents, and I'm not sure Yıldız qualifies for that category.

Yıldız to Juventus was a favorable deal (his contract at Bayern Munich had expired), Güler to Real Madrid was a favorable deal (release clause of €20 million in his Fenerbahçe contract), Páez to Chelsea is going to be a favorable deal (initial fee of €20 million to Independiente del Valle), El Khannouss to Leicester was a favorable deal (initial fee of £20 million to Genk), et cetera.

I'm sure we can find similar-ish bang for our buck if we cast a wide enough net. There's really no need to pay €50-70 million for Yıldız when it's very much possible to sign 2-4 promising talents for that sort of outlay.

Scored the most beautiful goal on Match Day 1 in the CL this season.

Yeah, agreed with the above. How does he compare "talent" wise, with someone like Guler? But agreed, we're not at a squad level where we can afford to take expensive gambles.

He would cost the kind of money that we might never splash on a single player ever again. The shift in squad building methods under INEOS will have us prioritizing finding and bringing in the Yildiz level talents before they breakout, instead of acquiring them for eye watering sums after they do so. Proof is in the more considerable links to the likes of Nypan and Mastantuono. This is a lazy link from Plettenberg if you ask me.

Bigger fan of Güler, personally speaking. Really think he has the potential to emerge as an Ødegaard-esque playmaker in the right environment and under the right coach.
  1. Arda Güler (best overall talent, best Turkish talent in quite a while).
  2. Kenan Yıldız (best athlete of the lot, very dynamic and physical on and off the ball).
  3. Can Uzun (bit sluggish but armed with the most refined goal-scoring instincts).
  4. Semih Kılıçsoy (mustn't stay at Beşiktaş for much longer, the league is not great for development beyond a certain point).
That entire assessment could be proven wrong in due time, of course!

Kilcsoy would be a very good fit and is a terrific prospect IMO. Maybe not as explosive as Aguero but the comparisons aren't completely baseless

Thanks bud. Yeah, football is a funny old game, isn’t it?

But as usual, your vast knowledge is always really informative. Appreciate it.

Cherki seems an ideal target in the “cheaper fee big talent” mold this summer.

Would be the ideal replacement for Rashford and would fit perfectly in Amorims system, if we sell Rashford 40-50m and he's available for €70m it should be a no brainer

Agree, think many sign of a world class player in the making are already there.

Nice list! There's a lot of promising players from Turkey now. Would be awesome to see them here. Could argue a case for Kerem Aktürkoğlu as well, although not that young anymore.

How's Kerem Aktürkoğlu doing at Benfica? I was really impressed with him when we played Galatasary last year.

He still is…

Aye, he's gone all in on these links/rumors. By the sounds of it, Yildiz is probably someone on our radar - on a few clubs' radar, but his price alone sounds like it'll be a no-go for us. This summer anyway.
Yeah, it looks like board and Amorim have a model when it comes to players… age, fee, physicality/energy … and he probably wouldn’t fit the fee element. Be interesting to see when they go outside of these, possibly for a CF (age).

Yeah, seems theyre definitely trying to build a younger, more physical, hungrier squad - thereby decreasing wage bill and allows us to move them on easier if needs be. I'd hope we could take a punt on someone like Cherki for the attacking positions but by most accounts on here (I don't watch him week in, week out) he's not hard working enough off the ball.

I feel like every time I see that Florian Platteberg he is linking us to a player we never end up signing.
