Is he worth going for? Surely 5m is a true bargain, even as a backup.

He's had a great season at Bournemouth and has matured a lot it seems. 30 years old.

Depends on wages. You can't pay a fortune for a backup keeper to sit on the bench every week. Plus I doubt he'd want to be a backup anyway.

To the naysayers. Have you watched him play recently, and what is your criticism?

Thought he's looked really good this season. A lot of great shotstopping and he can use his feet.

For the ones saying no, he’d be a big upgrade on Onana I’m sure for what is practically free.

Hell we could buy him and flip him for that price!

It does sound like you haven't seen him at Bournemouth at all to be fair. Yes his Chelsea-spell was horrible.

Watched a lot of Bournemouth this season and was at Old Trafford seeing them dismantle us in December. Played well but I can't get the Chelsea form out of my head, he's capable of the horrific, the Old Trafford pressure cooker will kill him.

This isn't a 10k stadium week in week out.

No. We can't do half-measures here.

Get him. Every time I watched him playing for Bournemouth, his performance has been very matured. He probably has left behind those turbulent years in Chelsea.

Didn't he refuse to be subbed off in a game one time?

I put him in my left field choices as a potential Onana replacement sometime back in the Let's talk Keepers thread.

He's done very well down here in Bournemouth this season and he's got alot of rave reviews for his performances.

5 million is quite a steal.

Feb. 12th.2025.

Left field option : Kepa.
Been tremendous for Bournemouth this year.

I actually like him and think he's quietly gone about his ways and had a solid season.

But one mistake at United and he'll crumble here.

I doubt he'd come as a backup. If we can't find anybody else then perhaps, but I feel like he's got the odd bollock ready to drop as well.

My initial reaction was no but actually might be worth a punt for that price.

The stunt he pulled in the league cup final when he refused to come off was a major red flag though

For Chelsea in a cup final, under Sarri, for the shootout - which he proceeded to lose. He certainly has matured since and managers have gotten over that woke nonsense of subbing on keepers for shootouts.

5m is a bargain, I think he's been decent this season. Stats seem to suggest he's done ok too.

Can’t go wrong for £5m?

For 5m he's a good candidate to replace Onana, and he could prove to be a steal at that price. He looks a lot more mature now. There's little doubt that he would improve us really.

How many times have we seen United players flourish once they've moved away from the scrutiny of playing for a big club? Feels like a pretty obvious example of it here.

What the feck does woke have to do with anything?

Why not at that price. People will bring up his Chelsea spell. But keepers have bad spells. 30 is a good age for a keeper. Worse case we have a sub keeper. But better then Onana.

I just want a no frills tall (in keeper terms) experienced boring goalkeeper

I'm just glad we're being linked with keepers. It seems Amorim has seen enough

He was shite at a big club previously, seems an arrogant bastard, and publicly undermined his manager in a cup final.

He’s going for £5m for a reason - anyone who wants him here is crazy. Stay the feck away.

Some of you would buy shit on a stick if it was on sale. We've already got shit between the sticks, we don't need anymore.

I still can't believe Chelsea spunked 70m on a GK!! Madness

People act as is if overcoming a difficult time is a negative thing. No idea about Kepa, but him failing at Chelsea before bouncing back is not a negative.

Strange old career he's had!

Should stay at Bournemouth imo unless he wants to go back to Spain.

Also odd it is 5m fee as didn't he sign an extension at Chelsea last summer before going there on loan?
