Said it from the start under Amorim, he suits the left 10. So many great moments all from that area for him, he can hold up, link up with players, and has the composure and dribbling ability to be a real threat. Also love how he has a knack of coming up with big moments.

I hope he signs and extension and makes that position yours. I have recently fancied bruno more as part of midfield as the engine of the team. Mainoo has shown that he can be more quality up at 10 (can score from that position very well too!).

Lovely goal, lovely celebration. Well done lad

Great goal yesterday. He does have that in his locker. Mainoo's adventure as a deep lying playmaker, however, should be shelved for now. He needs to play closer to goal and get involved in the creative play. His one or two touch passing around the box is very good and his technique is strong.

Some of his weaknesses I believe are dynamism related. Currently unable to cover substantial amount of ground for a prolong period. Struggles to run back toward his own box to stop attacks. Struggles with his long range of passes from deep.

I am not convinced he is a number 10 yet (more sample size is necessary). He may settle into an 8 if he improves his energy and stamina levels but clearly there is something to work with there. Players like him need more competition in the team. This will push them to improve.

I think he does, if it comes to his short passing game and moving with the ball. But he doesn't (currently) have the passing range which is key to that role, and he doesn't (currently) seem to have the physical stamina to be in the engine room of the team.

Left 10 won't necessarily be his best position for ever but it does limit the impact of his weaknesses. Those weaknesses are hopefully temporary - he's only just about to turn 20 so there's lots of development to come.
He can improve his passing range and maybe it's a limitation of them as a pairing but I don't see Ugarte as having a better passing range than Kobbie.

He does, doesn't he?

He's a teenager who's really not played that many games and he's scored this goal to level things, winner against Wolves, FA Cup Final winner and an Equaliser I believe against Liverpool.

All stunning goals and all extremely important.
It’s something that you can’t ever teach, you have it you don’t and he has it in spades. We just need to give him a proper run in the 10 spots.

Amorim should be drumming into his ears, and the club should be doing all they can to get him to reach atleast 80% of Bruno stamina and endurance. He if does especially in that advance role he'll be a beast.

I think this thing about his athleticism is a bit exaggerated. He's not that unathletic. You'd think he was Jan Molby the way people go on.

I think it's a more a frustration because if he was a bit quicker what a player he'd be. He'd have it all.

I say just give him time to fully mature physically and see where he ends up. Either way he's still a brilliant player.

Yeah but that physical maturity comes intentionally, at the moment he's someone that can come up with decisive moments. But to be able to influence games he'll need to work on this aspects.

I could see Real Madrid circling for him soon
Dunno why he would move TBH. He's a star young player in a rebuilding top side. He won't get the minutes he will here and can develop competing against some of the world's best players.

He will be doing but it just takes time. It's years not months to put it all together for a young player.

Mainoo and Amad are our two biggest talents and among our 3 best players in the squad. Today is Mainoo`birthday and he recreated this picture of himself:

Man Utd 0:1 Wolves New
I want to see more games where he plays in the position that he played in today. However, aside from that one effort in the first half, I thought he was quite underwhelming today.

How did he do today? My hope was that him, Shaw and Mount would come back strongly and help us out big time with the remaining fixtures. Seems like Kobbie is by far the best bet of that happening.

I still don't know what his best position is. He's so technically gifted so he'll eventually find his spot but right now I don't know what to make of him. If his passing range was better, he'd be immense as a DLP.

Wanted to see more of him on the ball. Was decent with it at times but nothing amazing. With Eriksen in midfield we were always playing with a handicap.

Anonymous for the majority of the game but did have flash backs for his shot that he put wide. Hopefully these game get him back to full sharpness because he's undoubtedly a threat and we'll need him if we're to win the Europa

I'd still argue that he's of most use in this formation in midfield. He's had poor games there but I thought he played well at the Etihad and Anfield this season alongside Ugarte so it's not like he's incapable. If you give him more time he could grow into the role as he's young.

His biggest problem in his performances for most of the season was dawdling on the ball too long and trying to over-play instead of keeping things simple, trying to show off Pogba style. None of that had much to do with formation and he was guilty of this under ETH earlier in the season.

He's just not a natural attacker for me - not going to be beating players 1v1, stretching teams with his pace or racking up a lot of goals and assists. For a team who already struggles to score goals we're not going to do ourselves any favours playing a neat and tidy midfielder in attack.

Now, is a 2 man midfield his ideal role? No. Which is partly why I'm not a fan of this formation change, it's made some of our players almost redundant and it's turned a big rebuilding job into and even bigger rebuilding job. He really needs to be played in a 3 man midfield to get the best out of him. If we end up selling Mainoo because we're experimenting with a formation for a manager who may not even be a success here and could be sacked next season it's a massive risk.

I might be in the minority as there's a big push to see him play as a 10 but he's just not a big enough threat to the opposition to play there.

I’m aware he just returned from injury but he needs to improve massively, if he is to have a successful career at this club (be it as an AM or CM). At the moment, he doesn’t get involved enough, his passing isn’t great and he’s incredibly slow and lacks stamina. He’s obviously young and I hope he does develop in all those areas but I have my doubts.

Great to have him back, such good footballer and so young. Getting minutes under his belt in games like this is essential to him impacting when matters.

It was actually kind of shocking how uninvolved he was.

I genuinely forgot he was on the pitch for most of the game. It was inevitable that a certain player was going to be subject to his usual post match pile on but that distracts from the fact that Kobbie and a couple of others did the square root of nothing in that game. I am far from being in the Kobbie out camp but right now he is still very much representing moments FC, does the occasional brilliant thing but then dissapears for whole games. RA needs to decide this summer which position Kobbie is suited to and work with him on that although I fear if we don't win the Europa he will be sold to fund the rebuild.

I'm sorry, but whatever flaws in his performance against Wolves are massively overshadowed by his performance against Lyon. The match against Wolves was a training session and nothing more. A shame for the fans who paid good money to attend the game in person, but this was not a match we should have expected anything remarkable from in terms of first team regulars. Stay free from injury, go home and get more rest, train in midweek to prep for Bournemouth on Sunday and get ready for Athletic Club on May 1. That's all that matters.

Bournemouth 1:1 Man Utd New
I really do not think we should play him in midfield anymore. 10 is fine, we can give him a run of games, but CM he's non-existent. After we did our subs and before they went down to 10 men, we started to get on top and our midfield actually looked like a midfield for the first time.

Tempted to say the same. My only criticism with him being a 10 is that he may not have enough in him to get goals or assists, which we're struggling for right now.

He's in danger of becoming a positionless player. Not attacking enough to really make it as a 10, not mobile enough to make it as a cm.

I don't think he's close to being a creative enough passer (at this point at least) to be playing as a 10. Don't think he has the vision or the execution.

Problem is, as you say, it's not like he's been shining in a deeper role.

He seemed to just not want to do his CM role today, felt like he hid from the ball.

At least we don’t play like we’re missing a man with him at the 10. He does nothing when playing in midfield.

Might be fair to say he’s looked better playing in the Europa League than at any match in the Premiership this season.

Discussed it plenty here, he’s just not ready to play as a CM yet. Defensively poor, doesn’t impose himself enough, and doesn’t have the passing range.

It’s not so strange though, he’s still really young.

After that nice attacking move early, Kobbie drifted out of the game. Not a worry as we will need him against Athletic Club.

There is no reason at this point to ever think he will be, he lacks too many basics.

As someone who loved him playing for the academy, I'm so disappointed in him this season. The only thing he seems to do well now is navigating tight inside left spaces.
His passing is Tom cleverly level at the moment.

That's the same for all our players
I can’t actually remember many of his performances in the league this season unlike some of the others, mostly because of the injury. Excellent against Rangers and Lyon though.

He’s not ready (I don’t know if he ever will be) to play in a midfield two. He doesn’t have the pace or stamina for it. I like the skills he has but he must be one of the slowest players I’ve ever seen without the ball. He actually seems to run faster with it.

Have to keep remembering how young he is, especially for the position he plays.

At 20 he should just now be getting mins here or there. This is the first we should be seeing of him really.
