We thought that Amad, Garnacho and Mainoo could be our future. Fast forward now, both Garnacho and Mainoo risks being sold because they can't play the manager style of play. Hope we are doing the right thing by backing Amorim and
putting 2 of our best talents away from the club.

Mainoo has had a difficult season but theres context to his underperformance. I dont think Amorim is keen on selling him nor do I believe INEOS are. We and they know that he has an immense ceiling. Hes only 20 and should be in and out of the side. There are some legitimate concerns about fitness and injuries but those arent issues that cant be improved. We must keep and develop his talent. Kone and Mainoo are the future.

That is very disingenuous. They just are not playing well in general.

Garnacho can’t even score despite having so many shots, don’t think the manager can be blamed.

Marino has regressed, whether it’s second season syndrome or coming back from injury. Still young, next season will be important to see how it plays out.

Amad is the only real standout talent from young age, you can tell by his dribbling. Still has a long way to go.

I’m pleased he’s not at the Under-21 tournament actually after playing for most of last summer. It was a season to learn from for him really as he never got going but a chance now to rest and reset and hopefully he’s ready to hit the ground running and regain his form come pre-season.

From playing in the Euro final to not being selected for England under 21 is a big drop. Unless he asked not to be picked for under 21.

Will be interesting to see what wage we land on for him. Is there any news around the contract negotiations?

Huge season for him upcoming. No reason that he can't make himself a first team central midfielder. Or. He can continue being a player where you see quality, but can't work out where to play him.

I don’t see it like that. Players who became full NT member previously , rarely go back down to U-21 level. They don’t need further youth level development.

It would be a bad situation for him to attend and the team goes deep. It only delays him coming back for pre season next season, where he would concentrate to do well to get back to England NT squad.

I worry about his mobility and whether he'll be able to cement his place in midfield, however it's far too soon to cut our losses - he has far too much talent for that.

I do think people went overboard in the 23/24 season, perhaps due to how poor the team was under Ten Haag. He was, and should never be, a nailed on starter in midfield. Not his fault - we need more quality in central midfield so we aren't so reliant on him and place him under too much pressure. If his form drops then it's no big deal as he can be pulled out of the limelight for a bit of time (as with any teenager not named Yamal).

Hopefully, with more attaching quality around him we see some improvement.

Same here. Don't trust him enough to be in sitting back in central midfield as he wants to get further forward which I totally understand because he's young, he wants to be involved in the final third rather than sitting back. But then if he's further forward who does he replace. Extremely talented player but abit of a conundrum about fitting him in a permanent position.

It’s humbling for him and he needs to be grounded a bit after last year.

He was off doing a Nike PR tour while missing out on preseason and came back to the squad still having fitness issues.

Unless we change to a 3-5-2 I can't see him playing much as a starter next year.

Bruno rarely gets injured and we won't have European football to increase rotations.

I think there is a good chance he doesn't start much next season, the added competition kinda pushes him out

I am so desperate for him to become our midfield maestro, I know it is a pipe dream, but he has the ingredients to be a top class CM, even in Amorim's 3421 system, I bet he can do it alongside Bruno or Ugarte.

Quite sceptical about that to be honest , he has no passing range so to speak of or he is hiding it pretty well add lack of athleticism and mobility and suddenly we have pretty limited player who will need lot of things to go his way and basically develop new set of skills to become top CM .
This is not to say he can't have role to play at United or won't succeed but I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's as midfield maestro .

I think it's also due to him not contributing for the U21s qualification too. There's likely a level of loyalty from manager to the players which means he wouldn't want to call up a young player that's out of the senior squad and one of his regulars miss out on starting at the tournament or a useful squad player misses out on the experience because Kobbie has been brought back in. It's not a win at all costs mentality like it would be at a senior tournament.

He started in a Euros final for the senior team. He's not going to be playing u21 football. It's good he has time off regardless so he can work on his stamina. Got high hopes for this season

He has regressed massively In my opinion
It could also be that he's just no where near as talented as many think he is. There's been many a case of young players having a great first season but failing to build on that. Januzaj, for example, was far better than mainoo in his first season in the senior squad. He was carrying a squad full of PL winners at 18 years old.

Reportedly he wants around 180k a week, which Is ridiculous. Even if he just had a great season, paying a player that age that much already is a recipe for disaster

Now, to demand that level of pay after a very poor season makes it even worse and very tone deaf.

Januzaj was incredibly talented, he just didn’t have a great attitude and never kicked on. There are just as many cases of players being overrated in their first season as them being rated at the level they deserve, but then never progressing the way they should be it via injury, attitude, or environment.

Great technique but he has to lift intensity and his fitness levels next season to stake a claim in the first team.
Casemiro looked quicker than him last season FFS!

As I've been looking at these things Mainoo was recorded as 30.5 km/h with Casemiro 30.2 km/h. Only ones behind are Maguire with 30.1 and Amass 29.62, however Amass' is just based on 2 european games so he probably get to top speed because thats very low for him. There were a couple of players with no data so they might be slower as well (Mount and Mazraoui). Evans was 30.9!

The mighty Evans.

Never saw him as chubby but he does look ‘heavy’ when running. Put too much muscle on maybe?
You have to consider his age and the fact he's still growing and changing as a young man. Growing pains and awkwardness are real until that process levels out and true adjustment to what he's metamorphosed into can truly begin. His growth spurt has been apparent and I'd say it's messed with his mobility even more than is ideal and he's having to learn what his new body can and cannot do.

Hopefully he's over the worst of all that now and his development can be linear and progressive.

He’s still really young and growing. He’s got a big future, and probably has a lot of room to improve physically still.

Yeah hopefully he has an injury free season and his mobility improves, a season of just settling in and enjoying is football would be nice to see.

Guess he's not chubby like people said

Not sure I have ever heard that before. Quite a few calles him slow and questioned his stamina, though.

Big mistake going to the Euro last summer. Need these few months to build his pysique. Hopefully, he can correct it this summer.

I'm not ready to give up on him yet. Hopefully Amorim isn't either. His outstanding breakthrough season should buy him more patience than most of our squad.

Got a really good feeling about Kobbie this season…

Same here. Last year was a disaster everywhere around Kobbie and I don't blame him for being off as well. The only issue I have with him, but it's not really about him as a footballer, is where he fits into Amorim's tactics. There is an answer as he looks like a superstar in the making, a potential United legend, but I have no idea what the answer is.

Jesus Christ. There has been literally nothing to show that or even make that claim. He had a good 1st season followed by a hugely disappointing 2nd, injuries aside.

This is the thing, everyone had such a bad season and Kobbie was part of that too.

Its not uncommon to see a player have an amazing breakout season, followed by a lul. Its not up to him and Amorim to get back up to speed.

He seemed like he put on a bit of extra weight last season, not helped with injuries that kept him out for periods regularly.

I think in some games, we will see a Bruno / Kobbie midfield.
