Consistently putting 7/10 performances in a position where that's needed. Love the send off he got when he got subbed, seems like he's very much appreciated by the fans.
i dont think he misplaced a single pass today
I think this is the most level-headed and accurate assessment of his performance.I still don't think hes back to his best but again, another solid performance by Mainoo.
Yeah, fair enough. I think, he had a good game, no doubt about it and kept it mostly simple. But he did misplace a few. Nothing majorly wrong with it.Was watching with some mates out so probably didn’t see everything. But overall felt he was excellent. Hope he only improves going forward. At such a young age, massive talent
Means 5 passes didn't reach. Which is exactly my point ^^ thanks for providing the numbers.75/80 passes (94%)
4 chances created
10 passes into final third
Bugger offOooff
Then you haven't watched him very well. I think, he played well and his ability on the ball gives us something we haven't used for ages but his passing remains uninspiring. He surely is able to hit passes sideways and with a bit of space also through the lines here and there.
Ouch.75/80 passes (94%)

It's a bit of an injustice to football that they get to watch him.Filthy performance today. The nitpicking here is surreal.
We would have sold him for £25m.
Funniest thing is Carrick completely dismantling the ridiculous narrative that he can't play with Bruno at the same time on the pitchThis was fecking ridiculous at the time and still is now, there were plenty of posters backing the manager too, good job you lads weren't in charge either

That's always a risk in football, but it's more likely than not that the next permanent manager would feature him sufficiently at the very least. We still might tbf. You never know who the next manager is, so he wouldn't be singing any new contract until we can guarantee he doesn't end up in the same mess.

It's just you.I think I have to concede I’m just watching something different or value different things for a player in his position.
I still don’t see what the hype is, he was fine today, average I’d say. I just don’t see it though, he doesn’t pass forward and when he’s forced to pass forward under pressure he usually gives it away. He slows the game down so much and only seems to look good with quick turns or small 4-5 yard dribbles which is nice but not the most important thing in a player in his position. Keane famously said ‘at Man Utd you pass forward’ and that’s what drives me insane with Kobbie because he rarely does so
But then I see him get so much praise after these type of performances it must be just be me I guess.
That "narrative" was based on a 2 man midfield with him next to Bruno. Not behind him next to another (defensive) midfielder.Funniest thing is Carrick completely dismantling the ridiculous narrative that he can't play with Bruno at the same time on the pitch
Carrick has done just that for 4 matches in a row which have resulted in 4 victories coincidentally...
Yeah. 5. Even if it had just been one - I reacted to a post who said he didn't misplace any pass. A N Y. No need to defend your boy here, I just pointed out that he had a good game myself.Yeah 5, not 50. 5 misplaced passes for a midfielder is normal, but you're welcome.
He definitely attempted a few passes in the last few games which is good to see. And hopefully, he'll manage to add that to his game, it would make him a very very good player for the centre of the pitch. The issue with Amorims last side was though, that it played differently and required players to play long risky passes. Thats why it made sense to choose Bruno over Mainoo since he is doing that better that than Mainoo. Those passes misplaced, i feel like he went a couple of difficult ones when Dalot was the safest option. Overall though, what's there to criticize ? Nothing.
He's exactly the player we needed and Amorim made us believe, wasn't.
It's just you.
It's the composure under pressure on the ball and always just keeping play ticking along. His role isn't one to create chance after chance, his availability to receive the ball and make it stick under any circumstance basically is invaluable and helps the team so much. He helps everyone around him play better and provide balance to the team, which is why we're conceding fewer chances and controlling games better.
You’ve compared him to 4 of the greatest players to have played the game! Not just at United. The underlying problem with Kobbie was solid, he was fine, don’t get the hype and all that is in years past we had Charlton, Robson, Scholes, Keane and the like. Today’s Kobbie Mainoo is of course not at that level today and it’s a good bet he won’t reach their level, but he’s still only 20 years old. He’ll never be a goal scorer in the mold of Scholes but Mainoo’s performance level as a midfielder is higher than Scholes at the age of 20.
We’ll see about the future, but right now his development is outrageous and his contribution to our midfield dominance today was outstanding.
The majority of Mainoos passes weren't too special and we played against 10 men for 2 thirds of the game. A high passing percentage and a lot of time in the opposition final third is great stuff but the context of the game plays into it. Again - I reacted to a post, that said he didn't misplace any pass. Which is wrong. He misplaced a few and a lot of the ones he made where to the player right next to him. Nothing wrong with all that - but the notion that this disproves the criticism towards his passing is not thought through. I don't think anybody questioned his ability to make short passes or even medium passes. He struggles with long passes and that seemingly was required in the last setup.@NZT-One above is looking at these stats as a justification for Mainoo’s passing being not good enough. Redcafe special as always. Imagine seeing 94% passing accuracy for a midfielder and thinking “Ahh see I told you, he does need to improve his passing!”
