The 2025/26 LALIGA season will begin across both divisions on the weekend of 17th August and will end on 24th May for LALIGA EA SPORTS and on Sunday, 31st May for the regular season of LALIGA HYPERMOTION.

As has been the case since the 2019/20 season, the LALIGA fixture calendar will follow a free asymmetric model, which means no two matchdays are the same. The primary aim of the asymmetric calendar is to accommodate
as many variables as possible, such as safety requirements, European competitions, club requests, construction work, public holidays, events, and other circumstances. This approach is designed to maximise both stadium attendance and audiovisual audiences.

The play-offs for the final promotion spot are currently ongoing.

First leg

7 June 2025 Almería 1–2 Oviedo

8 June 2025 Racing Santander 3–3 Mirandés

Second leg

11 June 2025 Oviedo 1-1 Almería

12 June 2025 Mirandés vs Racing Santander

It would be nice to see Oviedo and Racing back in the league. Historical clubs.

3-2 in the global for Oviedo, not finished yet

Agreed.

Were a bit of a Southampton/Coventry in the 90s in that they were always down near the bottom but managed to stay up with great end of season runs. Had some memorable players like Dely Valdes and Victor Onopko.

Santi Cazorla still playing and indeed scored tonight. Would expect them to have too much for Mirandes in final if they get through.

Mirandés won the first leg 1-0. The second leg is on Saturday.

In other news, it looks like Nico Williams could be off to Barcelona? :wenger:

He is definitely off to Barca if they can manage their finances to register him.
Which is a big IF

Tebas just said yesterday that they currently don't have the finances to register the gk they just announced

I genuinely don't understand what they are doing and how they are doing all these transfers, considering exactly this is being said everytime they sign someone and yet they manage to register that new player or sign them, despite having no money, seemingly.

But we have heard that story so many times and as of now they managed to register everyone they signed, didn't they? Olmo was probably the closest one and even that went through. It's hard to imagine that they will not be able to lock in Spain's wingers (Yamal, Nico) for the foreseeable future.

Tebas also mentioned Barcelona know what they have to do to be able to register players and that it's not something he believes should be difficult for them

So we'll see. They still have months yet

Going to go out on a limb and say either Barca or Real will win it.

Yeah, but I'm sure we all no someone that always says they have no money, but still manage to always have new stuff, go on several holidays, buy new cars etc etc.

Wouldn't believe a word of it.

It looked for a while like we might get a decent title race last season, then Real decided they couldn't be arsed and the run in was a damp squib. Feels ages since there was title race that went to the wire. When Atleti last won it maybe? We cancelled the La Liga subscription before the season ended.

Real look like they might have teething issues with Alonso, and I dont think Barca can fix their flaws without blunting their attack. So I cant see both of them maintaining a high level over an entire season. Wouldn't surprise me if one team does well and the other does crap, and its obvious who will win in March, yet again.

For starters that fecking mobster should shut the feck up and stop talking shit in public about a team in the league he's the president of. Secondly, he should have never been president of what should be a non-partisan organization in the first place, as he is a renowned Real Madrid supporter. If Barcelona can't register their signings, so be it, it would be a huge embarrassment for the club, but Tebas should absolutely shut the feck up about it in mid-June.

Well, he was specifically asked about it, it's not like he decided to just talk about barcelona's situation randomly

That's irrelevant for two reasons: he's spoken similarly without being particularly pressed before, and also the fact he's asked doesn't mean he has to speak in those terms about a member of the organization he "manages", which also happens to be the main rival of the club he openly supports. He's a fecking disgrace and a mobster, there's not much more to it, and everyone in Spain knows it. It's also mid-June, it's far too early in the transfer window for all that shite, which only goes to show he's just eager to run his mouth.

He speaks in those terms about everyone, no matter what. I always found this behaviour very weird, I don't even remember a single off-hand statement from his predecessor, Astiazaran. It seems obvious the media looks for him to get such comments and he is happy to supply them with plenty.

Was full on convinced we loaned or sold a player to Real Oviedo many moons ago, Google says we didn't. Only connection is Juan Mata started his career there.

No idea why I thought we did.

But in a more WTF thing, Santi Carzola is 40 and still playing football with them. What the hell, excellent player in his day. He was cool as a breeze with the ball at his feet.

He wanted to play for free too, but Spanish law and the league wouldn't let him. He's on the least wage possible which he donates to some of the clubs charity arms I believe.

Insanely talented footballer who would take a corner kick with his right foot and walk to the other side and take one with his left. Always felt he was quite underrated in the PL - due to Arsenal having Sanchez and Ozil at the time. Probably never good enough to break into that Spanish squad but still a great player.

After playing in Saudi Arabia for 3 years..

Barca is such a shit club:

"FC Barcelona will initiate disciplinary proceedings against its goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who is currently injured. A spokesperson for the Spanish football champions confirmed a report by the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" to the news agency dpa. The background to the measure is that the German international goalkeeper is refusing to authorise the club to forward his injury report to the league's medical commission.

Ter Stegen recently underwent another operation on his back. The club expects him to be out of action for four months or longer. In this case, Barça could use 80 per cent of the salary of the absent player to register a new player in accordance with the financial fair play rules applicable in Spain. Interestingly, the player in question is Joan García, whom the Catalans signed as their new number one from Espanyol Barcelona in the summer.

In a social media post, Ter Stegen himself spoke of a three-month absence, angering the financially struggling club. Barcelona already had considerable problems registering ex-Leipzig player Dani Olmo last season.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper still has a well-paid contract at Barcelona until 2028. However, the club would like to get the German international keeper off the payroll. Until the new injury, there had also been a number of well-known interested parties such as Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea FC, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus Turin, Galatasaray Istanbul and AS Monaco. This has been cancelled by the operation.

The player's medical data is confidential, so his consent is required for disclosure. The club is aware of the player's right, but also recognises its obligations towards the employer.“

I mean, Ter Stegen is being a bit petty since he's being pushed out the door. His post where he announced he'd be out for just 3 months was just him trying to mess with Barca and rile them up. Of course Barca has not handled that really well either. Now they can't unregister him in order to register Joan Garcia and Szczęsny. And Rashford is still not registered either.

If it’s a three month rehab then it is three months. Let them sell more of their revenue for the year 2050 or invent more „valuable“ pseudo media companies if they want to continue to live above their means.

They offered ter Stegen a contract and both parties signed.

From what I read from spanish medias (but they can be a bit bullshity) the medical report apparently says it's more than 4 months but MATS refuse to sign it, which is why Barca are angry. He's still getting paid no matter what, it's just a matter of registration and FFP, and he knows he's getting replaced since they already have their 2 GKs signed (but not registered). I remember how he behaved when he was in competition with Bravo, it kind of looks the same.

Boohoo, Barca being fecked by one of their players.. Even if Ter Steegen is petty, goof for Barca.. Let them have a taste of their own medicine..

It's about to get real ugly between Barca and Ter Stegen, with Barca threatening legal action now.

Although FC Barcelona opened a disciplinary file to Ter Stegen "immediately" once he learned that the German goalkeeper refused to sign the consent to raise the medical report of his operation on his back to the League's medical commission, a conciliatory tone was maintained from the club and the possibility of a meeting was still standing in the hope that he would rethink. However, over the hours this will has disappeared in the face of evidence that the 33-year-old goalkeeper is acting in bad faith and with the intention of hindering the registration of Joan Garcia and Szczesny, the two goalkeepers who push him out of the Barca.

FC Barcelona believes that it legally has all the arguments in its favor, even a dismissal, and would gladly agree to go to trial.

Ter Stegen no longer answered calls from club doctors on Monday to sign the medical report and it was one of his agents who ended up telling the club he would not.

They believe that the root of Ter Stegen's anger is economic because not playing the last league match of the 2024-25 season in Bilbao prevented him from reaching 60 percent of the games played while being available and from collecting 3.5M.

Essentially the problem is Barca buying players that they can't register. Their own fault that they are making Ter Stegen the face off.

To be fair the current board at Barca is still dealing from the disaster that they inherited from Bartomeu and co. They could have find different ways to circumvent those issues but it would have been at the expense of being competitive. I'm not defending Barca because I dont like them and their shenanigans but it's hard to side with Ter Stegen on this one.

He's angry about losing out on his bonus and most importantly being replaced but he's being petty and not really acting in good faith. Refusing to send his medical report to the league is illegal but he's trying to claim that his personal data are protected by european laws, which is true in a sense, but if he wins this legal battle, which is unlikely, it would have huge consequences if players are allowed to not share their medical data with their club.

You are believing the Barca mouthpiece Mundo Deportivo. I am not claiming that I know who is to blame but I would not believe MD in this regard.

Intrigued to see how Valencia and Sevilla do this season. Sevilla in particular were almost relegated whilst Valencia were doomed until they sacked their manager.

Sounds like you're defending Barca. Player got injured and had to have surgery. Club wants to essentially boot him out for having the surgery because they're in a mess they made and what to take it out on him.

Barca have routinely done this the past few years. Just shut out a player and have the media and fans hound him. Don't know of any other club that does this.

The federation aproves a match in Miami, Barça-Villarreal.Now it will forward the application to Fifa and Uefa
