Laurie has been on the dark all through, how comes he now knows what's going on?
 
Have you listened to the full episode? Laurie himself said while he's heard after Baleba money's tight, he's heard that before and been wrong last year with Sesko and this with Baleba so he could be wrong again.

Andy also said while he'd be cautious about where the money comes from, he expects movements. Especially if we can sell Zirkzee and a couple of the academy players he would expect movement.

This is the key element. We have struggled with the outgoings but might see some movement in the next few days and that would free up the funds for presumably a signing at LB. Collyer and Amass were meant to leave on permament deals and in the case of Collyer that does seem fairly imminent, Zirkzee to Villa or Juve is the big one to watch as that would free up a lot more headroom in terms of salary along with generating a pretty solid fee if it is a permanent sale. I am sure they are done with the midfield now and Rashford staying puts paid to any plans for a new striker in this window but I don't think they can afford to ignore LB and they will know that.

If some loan opportunities arise, we might move. Otherwise, yeah it's done. Midfield rebuild complete, defence next year.

I wouldn't totally rule out a new forward if Zirkzee leaves, but we will definitely be signing a LB before the window ends.

I find it baffling that we are still giving credence to what any journalist is saying about our transfers, especially Laurie. I know he's been Tier 1 in the past but this summer he's had an absolute mare. This time last week he was saying we'll be prioritising LB over midfield, and then Wednesday morning, news breaks we are close to signing Baleba. He does not have a clue what Ineos are doing. And most importantly he himself pretty much said it he's been wrong multiple times already so who knows what's gonna happen.

This thread smacks of trying to create panic out of absolutely nothing.
 
They don’t know… They kept saying Baleba is not happening, right until it did.
