Reckon it's a bit weird that Atlético weren't super-interested in him considering Costa's so-so performances and Griezmann's impending departure — beyond a few reports back in December and even recently via AS.
At face value, he fits the Agüero/Forlán mold in terms of being the type of mobile forward/striker they've signed over the years, and is relatively easy on the budget - which is always a factor for Atlético. Anyway, good signing for Internazionale if the deal is close to done — Serie A is essentially the ideal European league for Argentinian imports. Though on a personal level, I wish United were interested in Lautaro - touch of Agüero about him - with a hint of Tévez as regards scrappiness.Simeone, then, will be hoping that new signing Lautaro Martinez embraces a similar attitude, although he said the transfer wasn't fully official yet.
"The club have not confirmed his signature yet," the coach clarified.
"We know that he has the capacity to adapt.
"He is a fantastic player who generates a lot of expectation."
