Reckon it's a bit weird that Atlético weren't super-interested in him considering Costa's so-so performances and Griezmann's impending departure — beyond a few reports back in December and even recently via AS.
Simeone, then, will be hoping that new signing Lautaro Martinez embraces a similar attitude, although he said the transfer wasn't fully official yet.

"The club have not confirmed his signature yet," the coach clarified.

"We know that he has the capacity to adapt.

"He is a fantastic player who generates a lot of expectation."
At face value, he fits the Agüero/Forlán mold in terms of being the type of mobile forward/striker they've signed over the years, and is relatively easy on the budget - which is always a factor for Atlético. Anyway, good signing for Internazionale if the deal is close to done — Serie A is essentially the ideal European league for Argentinian imports. Though on a personal level, I wish United were interested in Lautaro - touch of Agüero about him - with a hint of Tévez as regards scrappiness.

Here you go lads a more detailed video about Martinez. Racing tends to develop good players we bought Acuna from them last year.

I watch Lautaro in the Sudamericano Sub 20 a year ago. Was the best player of an average squad (only Colombatto and Fyoth apart were good but not the same level as Lautaro). Also watch it in the WC Sub-20 where again, an average squad doomed the team and Lautaro only play one game because of his injury and a red card in the only match he play.

He's one the best talents of Sudamerica. He's ready to make the jump to Europe.

Is he a pure number 9 or more of a Dybala 10 type.

Interested how he works with Icardi.

Plays behind Icardi on paper, but pushes up in the box too, a 9,5. A bit like Griezmann and Costa at Atletico. Not really a playmaker, but he is good at dribbling and creativity wise, really complete and pops up a bit everywhere. They seem to work well together

He's not a pure #9 per se, however, despite his average height, Lautaro can can definitely operate as a line-leading striker, IMO — albeit a technically skillful one who relies on movement and exquisite dribbling ability rather than brute force — and not just a fancy forward masquerading as as a makeshift center forward. Reckon Agüero is a natural comparison in terms of mobility in bursts, function, eye for goal and loosely defined playing style. And like Agüero, he shouldn't have a lot of problems starting alone or alongside another striker in an alternating primary/secondary role (Forlán/Icardi/Džeko).

Really excited to see Inter this season. Very nice XI.

Icardi, Martinez, Skriniar, Nainggolan the biggest names who should do well etc. but I think another player coming of age now is Brozovic. Wouldn't be surprised to see a really big season from him.

If we want to make a comparasion to a modern forward it can be more like a Sergio Aguero type of player, he's idol is Falcao though.
