Yeah, that's the spirit! Let's get rid of the only players that had a positive impact on our teams performance in a final.
I didn’t say we should get rid. But genuinely if I was him or his agent I’d be looking for a quick exit this summer before the ship cuts in half.

Wanted to say the same thing. We really got our hands on a guy, who seems a great player. Lets hope, we can hold on to him for a while

I'll grant you the opposition was lame, but Yoro was masterful. And to be masterful in a cup final -- with all the pressure that the players must have felt --- at this age is mind-boggling.

We we actually quite decent defensively, but Yoro stood out among our defensive players.

Proving to be the only shining light in this miserable team.

His teammates are miles off it.

He’s the only player in the defence who really understands the spaces in this system. He positions himself so well to recover the ball and drive forward at the right moment.

If we enter next season with the same manager and system, he has to be the starting point from the back. Maguire and Martinez are supposedly ball playing defenders but I think I prefer the way Yoro drives and takes risks.

Bar amad he was the only player capable of any penetrative threat and that's tragic.

I hope we get good again because I'm afraid we won't be able to keep him were we to continue being gash.

This kid is a gem. He’s definitely been a bright light in a tragically dim season. Hopefully we can build around strong team around him.

Very good performance from him all things considered. When you see him play like that, unfortunately I can't help but feel like he won't be here long if we continue our nose dive.

One more season of this and he will ask for a transfer request. He has dreams of playing for France and that's never gonna happen at Utd. It's already basically confirmed he will miss out on WC 2026

I wouldn't be so sure about this to be fair, but he is very young and France are stacked.

I was only looking at it from the club perspective; hadn't even thought about the pressures and earworms that come from NT managers to players at massively underperforming teams.

There's nothing even for us to be bitter about - we dipped our toe in the elite end and managed to come out with an elite talent. This isn't the 80's anymore, and if you're not at a big club doing or attempting to do big things, you're letting yourself down and wasting years of your career where you could be winning the biggest trophies and, creating a legacy for yourself.

We've gone off and got a Rio/Varane level talent and I'm sure he'll have aspirations to match their feats for club and country (obviously the latter has reason to be a more direct inspiration) and he will have no reason at all to stick around here unless we can match his ambition. It's not often we get to say that these days, delving into poorer and poorer talent pools as we are doing, but it absolutely applies to Yoro - there's no way any rational person can expect him to stick around beyond the one or two seasons more he'll see as developmental.

A lot of people seem to think winning the EL and the spoils that go with it was all there was to it, but on the back end, being able to consolidate some kind of status to the talent we have here who are worth anything was also paramount - if you're about anything, you are doing the club a favour by staying with how things stand now.

We need the kind of turnaround that I don't see us being able to accomplish with our incompetence in recruitment and severely restricted budget, otherwise there will be an exodus of our shining lights as they have no reason to stay in their seats on a ship that's sinking. You mentioned 2026, so we're likely to get a season out of him where he's giving all that he has to try and make that squad, but given the embarrassment of riches you have, even that mightn't be enough to move the dial. I thought 2 years, but putting two and two together, I'd think failure to make that squad having anything to do with United will be the straw that breaks the camel's back for him.

I don't understand why Amorim switched him in the CB position just for the sake of playing Shaw. Yoro has clearly been the club's best LCB.
The CB pool talent is vast in France and Yoro chose us instead of Madrid knowing (or not!) the risks that could be with it. Good luck to him

Best player for us by a mile last night. Only one who played to the required standard. I don't blame him for that shot that sailed over, he was more than entitled to.

It was a disastrous lineup, but even worse was how long he took to change things. Yoro’s people will also be looking at the standard of coaching and management, which might set alarm bells off independent of other concerns.

Only having domestic football next season (absolutely disgraceful) will make games so much more intense and focused, you’d like to think.

He can be proud of his individual performance. Maybe the only one. I agree with the general sentiment that if we don't get our shit together, he won't be here long.

There was nothing else to do, he distributed the ball three or 4 times in the same sequence and it kept coming back to him with no one else trying anything.

Probably the only positive from last night. He's quietly found his footing at the club after a less than ideal start (injury, initial form)

The bigger risk is that we could just end up with another insane manager who just doesn't 'fancy him' for unknown reasons. Then there'll be a smear campaign against him (attitude, sulking, or whatever footballing reason you may think of) that the fanbase jumps on, and then he's wasted 2-3 key years of development off the bench.

Amad was down that route, until ETH was gotten rid of. Seems like Garnacho might on the brunt of it, under the current management.

I don't trust our club with young talent, and I'd always recommend that any well advised young player needs to have an exit strategy baked into their contracts (game time/performance related release clauses) because as a club we just bend over to the current managers whims.

Exactly, and everyone infornt of him was just static.

He's just class. Even his passing just felt crisper than everyone else, he brought the ball forward better than the full backs and midfielders and also had one very good chance from a set piece.

He had Amad demanding the ball for all 4 passes and he ignored him. Don’t blame him for shooting but there were other options

Wonder if he regrets not waiting for real Madrid. Hopefully we sort ourselves out quickly otherwise he'll be looking to leave before we can extend his contract

I imagine he regrets joining this shower. He must have been so frustrated with his shitass teammates yesterday.

Real Madrid bound eventually with his raw talent but I hope we get his best form under us. Without European football (with no reason to believe we would qualify for Europe next season), I doubt he will stay for long.

Class player and one about whom one can say that there's truly world class potential.

Seems also to be very likeable.

If he gets sold, i wouldn't know whether to breathe a to be angry or relieved. Deserves to be at a institution that doesn't purport to strive for excellence while imploding.

Imagine him and De Ligt in back two. Think they’d compliment each other very well.
I'm surprised that De Ligt has so many admirers. Given the cost and his salary payments, I actually think we'll look back on him as the worst bit of business we did last year. Seems like a good lad but has Maguire's clumsiness without his passing/carrying ability. Would snap any club's hand off that would allow us to break even with him.

I can't believe the discussions in this thread and fear that we will lose him anytime soon. Maybe to refresh memory Leny Yoro signed a five-year deal with Manchester United until 2029, and the club has the option to extend his contract for a further year of 2030. So we have him somewhat tied for at least 4 years with an option for 5 years. Asking for a transfer request after another year? No problem but buying club can first pay 100 mil. There will not be a lot of suitors willing to pay that for a defender. He seems a rare but excellent piece of business by the club is tied into a long contract so we are in the driving seat not the buying club or the player. Now let's hope we can find some more good players in attacking department, a good keeper and an good midfielder or two and we could actually start dominating games and be competitive again. And in a year or two there won't be need to talk about players leaving because of the team being uncompetitive.

You'd want to be relieved that United don't have a quality player anymore? I think I've just about read it all on the Caf now.

It's a reality though, whether you like it or not. I'd obviously prefer if the team is doing well and there are no transfer request handed in but if we have a similar season to 24/25, it won't be a surprise if Yoro will wanna leave

This kid won’t be here for long, far too big a talent to be rotting away in this shit show.

Well he has a contract until 2029, with an option for us to extend it by 1, so he's here for at least that long if we decide we want him to be.

Agreed. I still remain unconvinced by de Ligt and think he has only escaped more criticism due to still being in the honeymoon phase and having more pressing areas of concern in the team than central defence. I'd be surprised if we're not actively looking to upgrade by next summer.

Dont know if you guys are aware of it but according to an article on l'equipe.fr about the players missing from the Euro U21 France squad, they said Yoro is supposed to have surgery during the offseason to fix his foot injury.
