Looked a different player today. I often said he looked like he had no clue in the 3 CB formation. Mainoo got a lot of the attention but Amorim also needed to leave because of Yoro.

I remember his game or two in the preseason he joined and he was excellent and looked like a Rio clone in the back four under ETH. Gets injured for 4 months and returns to Amorim's mess.

Hopefully we start to see the huge talent that he is now because he showed immense defensive instincts today, basically saved us a point as much as Sesko.
 
Couple of excellent pieces of defending on the counter attacks.

Annoying Maguire had to go off presumably with an injury(?) but Yoro's extra pace might have actually helped us in the end when we become wide open.

He was great last season in the same formation - our best player in the EL final. I think it's just the typical second season syndrome that a lot of young players go though.
 
Deserves the same sort of credit as Sesko, as without him we lose that game.

Another player made to look terrible by Amorim, that clearly isn't.
 
Sure Maguire was saying his hamstring's gone as he came off, so a run perhaps now for Yoro.

The obvious pro being his recovery pace - we're able to press higher/play a higher line.

Agree about the credit thing. Absolutely fantastic defending for their counters. Getting the tackle in twice was brilliant in itself, but also how he continuously cuts the passing lanes at all important moments is so beautifully executed.
 
We lose that game only for him. Maguire wouldn't have had the pace to deal with those WH counterattacks late on.
 
Impervious cameo - basically dealt with two or three men on his own on those counters and positioned himself like a prime Rio. Surprising turn of pace there as well .
 
showed some urgency and brilliant decision making in dealing with those two 1v1, 1v2 situations. More of the same please!
 
Sesko gets the headlines and credit to him for an outstanding finish but Yoro earned that point just as much.

Well done lad. One of the lesser talked about victims of Amorim's system. Yes, I'm aware he had a few good games under him. However, he also had a lot games where he was isolated against wingers out wide. Even the quickest centre backs will struggle against quick wingers in a foot race. That's why is a fullback's job. Against centre forwards, he'll fair better.

He's one of our best options against low block and counter teams as he's the only natural cover defender we have. He just needs to get better at aerial duels.
 
What's the better CB pairing out of the four we have?

We actually have a "nice" problem there for once. Be good if we could sign a few midfielders and have the same problem there that we now have at the back of having too many good players to pick from.

(And it's Yoro and Maguire for me. Just gives a temu vidic-ferdinand vibe)

I do wish we’d give that a go, but it ain’t gonna happen unfortunately. He starts for me in CB with Maguire, and Yoro will get his time. Think De Ligt has to start when fit too, probably over Mag

So good to see him getting his mojo back.
 
Played well and nice to see another good performance after his cameo against West Ham.
 
Started nervy and grew into it. Had a right battle with Tarkowski on those corners, really happy to seem him play better again.
 
Best game of the season. Tough game to plsy for young defender and he nailed it.
 
Can't count how many times he blocked the ball. Getting into premier league rhythm just fine.
 
Did he get booked for being thrown into the net? :(
 
Got to be a good learning experience for him coming through a horrible wrestling match like that with a win and clean sheet. Think he would've been bullied a bit in a game like that last year. Definitely seeing progress.
 
Good defender but no confidence in him on the ball. I guess he could get away with it alongside Martinez, but when we're trying to play out from the back he is a vulnerability.
