Yoro will be fine. I have absolutely no worries about him. Just needs time.

I think we have to keep in mind that this kid is only 20.

That being said, we spent 50+ million on this kid with the thought that he was our future van Dijk and after nearly 60 matches played I've not seen much to suggest that he's going to be the world beater we anticipated.
Van Dijk was still at Celtic at Yoros age, plenty of time to come good.

He was very good, and then had a poor game. He’s a young CB. It would be more surprising if it wasn’t happening.

He’s a huge talent. He’ll come good.

Def needs to bulk up but he has barely played this season. Can you even consider him "match fit"?

He has largely struggled this season. However he was very good in the latter part of last season and he's still had the odd very good game this time. Last season he was generally better when playing on the left, so I am a little surprised that Carrick played him on the right with Maguire on the left.

Heaven was outperforming him during the latter part of Amorim's reign, so I think it might be time for Heaven to move ahead in the pecking order again.

I'm surprised people are writing him off. We have seen how good he can be last season and one-off games this season. Inconsistency comes with being a young centre back, it's a position where experience is very important. His potential is massive, but there will be more tough matches for him the next couple of years. That's just the name of the game.

I am not worried at all.

He's making the same mistakes and struggling in the same aspects of play though, that's the worry. He has fantastic attributes, but he's also got some obvious weaknesses that are being brought to the forefront in this league.

I am definitely worried if anyone wants to be our first choice CB next season.

Not buying it. Check fotmob for stats, he has 1300 minutes in the league this season.

So he has played over half of total minutes available in the league this season... #9 overall in minutes played at the club this season.

What do you consider "match fit" for a 20 year old?

Pointless to argue when you make up stats like 2nd in appearances behind Bruno. What do you think is match fit? He had one full 90 since Jan 17.

It's easy to forget that Leny is still only 20 years old. For his age, his development at this stage is outstanding. But if we had to nitpick him it would be his lack of physicality in tight spaces. But for a fifth choice CB at the age of 20, he's an outstanding option for Carrick to turn to.

Are you ranking him below Heaven? As Carrick doesn't seem to.

I rank Yoro below Heaven, but Carrick pulls rank on me. Yoro, who is 20, is a year older than Heaven, who is 19, but based on what we've seen so far if we found ourselves in a cup final and we had to choose between Yoro and Heaven to partner with Maguire, I would go with Heaven.

Could you point me in the direction of the, "made up" stat?

According to the website YOU cited, Bruno has 26 appearances in the league. Leny has 25.

You mentioned that Leny has "barely played" - that isn't true.

I don't know why we keep insisting on playing him at right center back, his best performances at United came post Martinez injury at left center back last season. I think he even said himself it's his best role.
His stand out attribute on the ball is his ball carrying, he does it so well surprisingly from the left side and can't replicate it from the right even though he's right footed. Take that away and he looks rather average, I think allowing him do what he does best feeds into his confidence.
Obviously he needs to become more aggressive as well, but as you can see with Sesko when one thing works you start to get out of your head a bit and start enjoying the game. We're mis-profiling him and it's not good for his long term development.

Right now, certainly. Heaven has been comfortably better for the last three or four months. However I do think that in the latter part of last season Yoro was playing at least as well, and probably a bit better.

Hopefully they both keep improving and in a couple of years they establish themselves as the main combination.

Think that he would have been better off kept out of the firing line for another while, he is clearly struggling. Hopefully Martinez is back very soon.

He had an excellent cameo against West Ham and so deserved to start the next game in Martinez absence in which we kept a clean sheet against Everton and he did pretty well. He made a mistake against Palace and struggled a bit but he settled down a lot as the game went on. I do agree that we miss Martinez though, particularly on the ball

Yea, he had a couple of great blocks against West Ham. I still trust him alright in open spaces, but he just looks a bit lost when we are defending deeper at the moment. Hopefully he is learning anyway and isn't taking too many blows to his confidence along the way.

And when he gets stood up by tricky winger types. Very reactive defender at the moment.

(Not sure how the double quote popped up here!)

I highly rate both Yoro and Heaven, both still incredibly young to be featuring for a club like United and have put in some magnificent performances, as well as some poor performances. Yoro's one noticeable flaw is a lack of physicality and in a league where set pieces are such a huge part of opposing clubs' tactics, such as Arsenal, that's a flaw that needs to be rectified. Heaven doesn't have any obvious flaws per se, but just needs to continue developing into the outstanding CB I think at least he will become.

The club spent a lot of money on Yoro. There is probably a certain amount of pressure on Carrick to give their investment a chance. I think Yoro does have a high ceiling but clearly still has a lot to improve on.

Still don't see why he's playing over Heaven.

In his games so far, Heaven has proven more aggressive, stronger, and better on the ball. At this stage, his qualities should outweigh Yoro.

We just look so much weaker with him in the team at the moment. Positioning consistently off, shaky on the ball, weak in the challenge. I really rate him, but he's poor at the moment.

I don't know why the commentator was saying that was a good save it was an awful header. If he doesn't head that ball into the ground that's a goal.

He's young and he'll learn, but you have to score those as a CB. Under no pressure, inch perfect cross, plenty of time to think and readjust, and only 5 yards out.

He needs this season to be over with so he can reflect and start again next season. There's a lot of work to do here.

He's way too weak in duels. He has no idea how to engage and win decisively, like De Ligt and Martinez do. He does this strange thing where he engages half-heartedly and gets stuck in a grappling match then gets overpowered. He needs to learn how to use his frame, he's huge but somehow can never impose himself on attackers. He's also bad at aerial duels, i noticed Dalot/Mazraoui having to take charge a few times while he stepped back. I think he needs a really good loan.

The club did indeed spend a lot of money on Yoro. He’s fantastic for his age, but he needs to watch the excellent TV series Jack Reacher if he wants to become a top CB. Not Bond, Reacher.

I actually thought he was much better tonight, bar the glaring miss.
