This happens to us under almost every manager eventually. I don't ever remember a patched up back 4 of ours actually getting destroyed? Carrick himself was centre back for a few games in a crisis.

I'm worried about Chelsea though. They will be so up for this with it all to play for. We are stuttering and getting injuries and suspensions at the worst time of the season

Genuinely - when has he shown this potential, and what are his excellent qualities?

I want Yoro to become world class, and show me wrong but I'm just not seeing it.

I kinda agree with this. He doesn’t have any standout qualities. However, I did find an interesting article highlighting how even the most promising and technical players can be offset by a growth spurt. This may lead to a decline in technical levels in particular as the player may lose a little hand and foot coordination. It may also make the player slower and less agile. However, if said player sticks to it, they normally grow into it as they mature 21-23 year old approximately.

He wouldn’t be the first. For instance, he said that he was compared to Nani when he was young because he was very fast when younger and played as a winger. It’s not uncommon for boys to grow evn till they sre 19-20. if so, it could explain why he’s not the physical and technical specimen we believed him to be, yet.

Two left footers? You could be right, would mean Mazraoui left back
Wouldn't touch Maz in cb with a barge pole. Incredibly weak and gets caught out at full back as it is.

I think Shaw is a good defender and very calm under pressure and in possession.

As far as this game goes, it’s probably a blessing in disguise. Yoro has been at fault so many times over the season.

Worth giving Ugarte a go there next to Heaven? Thought he did pretty well the other day.

The Casemiro at the back days wasn't an awesome time

Personally, I would go with Dalot and Heaven at centre back, with Maz and Shaw full back. That way only Dalot is out of position; not the whole back 4.

Dalot or Maz lb, Shaw cb, Heaven rcb is too many out of place

I feel bad for Ugarte, he'll probably give away two penalties and get sent off the way things are going for him here. I thought he was pretty good against Leeds once he settled into the game. He's bound to be rusty and he's not good enough on the ball when we need to create. Mount would be better in there for the next 3 games he's fit.

Bit worried about Yoro. 2 years on and he still looks quite raw. Despite that I'd prefer to have him available on Sunday instead of playing a makeshift defence.

Dalot should be nowhere near CB, his decision making and positioning are poor enough in the position he's been playing for his whole career. Chelsea away is not the time.

I'd rather play a CB from our youth team like Kukonki...even if we play him LB and move Shaw inside.

Mount would be better at CB?

Should play Shaw, Heaven and Mazroui in the middle, then Amad as right wingback and Dalot on the left. Need at least a point from the Chelsea game, Heaven and "another player' isn't ideal in any way.

Does anyone know what Yoro's injury is?

He's a 20 year old CB. He should look raw. About 8 years off his prime.

we paid £50mil for Yoro and £1mil for Heaven. Heaven has looked the better CB everytime I've seen him play. Both players around the same age.

Just goes to show what a gamble scouting and analysis of players is. Maybe Yoro comes good eventually with age, but right now you'd put your money on heaven developing into the better CB with age.

True, but then Heaven developed in England so it would have been an easier transition for him.

Also, Yoro was injured about five minutes after he arrived and then had to not just settle at United and in a new country and league - which appears to have become more and more aggresive - but also get used to playing in Amorim's formation, and after a year revert back to a back four. All that, within a year and a half.

That's a lot at any age, but for a 20 year-old CB...

Heaven was silly cheap though. A bargain by any metric.

Doesn't change Yoro being 20 and looking like a typical 20 year old.
