Feel the same, hope both make good strides forward to start games. Also feel both look better after a run of a couple of games.
 
I hope we see something from him this season to get excited about. I thought we were getting the top CB prospect in the world when we bought him, and yet he has mostly looked like an academy player who's been given more opportunities than he deserves because he's a local lad.

Think thats harsh, hes 20 and has the tools.
 
Said it a few times now, with MDL and Martinez perma crocked I’d rather blood Yoro and Heaven in this season even if they make plenty of mistakes. It’ll be worth it in the long run if we really think they are our CB pairing going forwards.

Even if they play FBs sometimes just let them play and build some rhythm and confidence. It can’t be any worse than Shaw, Maz & Dalot and even though Maguire has done well enough in his ‘redemption’ arc he’s not the answer.

That's very harsh on his first season. Especially for the final couple of months of that season where he was probably our best defender.

Obviously he struggled in his second season, but that's something plenty of young players go through. His preseason has been impressive so hopefully that's a sign that he's ready to step up and push for a starting role now.
 
We are gonna end up ruining this by not playing him enough and then he’ll leave and go on to be one of the best. It’s Pique all over again but worse because at least we had Rio and Vidic.

I don't know about the part about him becoming one of the best but I you pay Big bucks for young talent then you should have more conviction in them than it has been shown towards Yoro , if you think he is not even good enough currently to be part of team that is barely Champions league standard then just sell him and cut your losses or back him with the extended run if he is suppose to such big talent just make a decision .
 
Had a solid preseason and looked good when he came on, it would be a much needed and welcome boost to our defence if this was his break out season and we start to see him fulfil his potential.
 
He has got a lot of unfair negativity I think over the last year. Maybe it was due to the price tag but I think some people weren’t to understanding about his injuries, playing in an unfamiliar system and probably more importantly in a team lacking in confidence.

He has a lot of attributes one would like in a top centre back, including being a good passer too, I just think he needs stability around him. Good that he is adding versatility too his skill set and I’m just hoping he can have a injury free run.
 
If he's not going to play at cb I'd like to see him starting at rb. Dalot did some good things going forward in 2nd half, but he was defensively awful in the 1st half. Thought Yoro looked good after coming on and thought he looked really good when played there in pre-season. Still expecting Dalot to start against Everton but hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I'll be massively disappointed if we don't make this transfer work tbh. He was the best young cb in the world at the time we signed him.

I think we'd need a fairly attacking LB on the other side to make that work
 
He can do a job a la Smalling or Calafiori but he will hardly get decent crosse into the box or have a consistent attacking impact we need to drill. But I say put pressure on Dalot so he has rais ehis game and we will be fine there.
 
Yoro looked sharp today and in pre season.
Personally not a fan of playing center backs at full back but it does seem to be a trend in the league with Arsenal and city doing it. Yoro does seem suited to that role.
No harm if he builds up some minutes there before hopefully taking over one of the CB spots over the next year or two.

For a team that's already shown an aerial weakness this season, removing from the team our best header of the ball is unfortunately not an option. (unless it's De Ligt coming back in).

Also a reminder the last time we seen Yoro-Martinez partnership was the absolute horror show vs Leeds where DCL had a field day.
 
He looked good after coming on as a RB, but going forward, he appears to lack confidence in being able to make forward passes or getting into crossing positions.
He nearly always comes to a stop, hesitates and defaults to a safe sideways or backwards pass.

Yoro has shown in the past, he’s capable of making surging forward runs, so he’s capable of running down the RW, or providing an overlap.
The question is, what does he do after that?
Just coming to a stop, with no idea, or no confidence to make a pass or cross, is a self made dead end.

Did anyone see that one run he made from deep into the opposition box? He looked absolutely rapid

He also has excellent technique, but he sometimes struggles with his position out wide. I'd like to see him gradually introduced as our starting CB, but playing at RB is a great way to improve one on one defending and ball carrying.
 
It's definitely nice to see a player who is light on his feet. A lot of ours, even the quicker guys, they're heavy footed.

Would like to see more of him at RB but the big question mark is can he deal with a winger going at him. That's been his weak spot as a CB when he's pulled out wide.

Definitely not sure if he's ready to start at RB in the PL yet.
He's done well at RB in pre-season and during his cameo against Ipswich, but he's still inexperienced there (inexperienced full stop....) and it looks like his confidence got a bit of a knock from playing poorly last season, so getting minutes when we're leading seems a better idea to build his confidence back up, and get him to polish up his skills in a less decisive role (mess up at CB and it could well be a goal, mess up at RB and there's still a chance someone's covering/he can recover himself).

But I definitely like the idea of him getting more minutes at RB, till he's more ready/consistent to play at CB, esp. since he seem to try a few more things, and is braver with his defending too. Think he's good development for him long-term.

Even Ferdinand played at RB if I am remembering correctly
 
Rouben and Milan can feck off. We would be mad to get rid of him.

Would love to see more of him at RB, based off that cameo.
 
Interesting, thought he had it in him to play for France in the long run but patience does come at a premium at this level.

Yeah a bit surprised by his decision, Amad probably helped recruit him. He must think he'll never get a chance to start behind so many other CBs
 
Being able to cover RB when we need to rest Dalot gives us a defensive option there, also him more opportunities to play between CB and RB, as well as allows Mazraoui to be more of a Shaw cover. He needs to step up this season in terms of performances though.
 
At only 20 I find that a funny decision. He could be a prime candidate to be a starter in the French 2030 WC squad for example, if he sets his mind to it. If his father is Ivorian then makes a lot more sense, similar to Semenyo where it's more about pride than glory, but correct me if I'm wrong but Alain Yoro was also born in France?

Just hope Yoro doesn't think he's not good enough to star for France.
