No chance, but he would be excellent here IMO.
On the Pogba thing, yeah the point is we need a different type of player to him anyway.

To my mind the most interesting part of this story is less if we're going for Goretzka (because as others have said, he likely wants a new contract) and more the idea that we are looking to sign a Pogba replacement imminently because he will be leaving.

The Pogba bit is concerning, but definitely contract negotiation at play.

Interesting.

Madrid, Barca and multiple clubs from England are interested, which is basically everyone bar PSG but he wants to extend his contract at Bayern?
Yeah, this is just generic namedroping of interested clubs to get a raise.

This and the Camavinga rumors confirm we're definitely in for box to box CM instead of holding. I actually think Ole's vision is to have two man hyper mobile midfield that we have in McFred, just better.

Pogba will likely play the season on LW - alternated with Rashford - before leaving on free. Hopefully we can replace him with Grealish next year.

With the links to Goretzka and Camavinga it sounds as though we're targeting players who are out of contract next year

But this guy is not defensive midfielder as what you think we need. He’s box to box. Pretty much McTominay but better passer. He suits Ole’s double pivot just like McFred since he has incredible work rate, stamina and can play in double pivot.
Just to be clear, I didn’t call the Bayern player a defensive midfielder. I just said a *more* defensive midfielder (than Pogba). Just as I believe McTominay is more defensive minded than Pogba too.

That’s because I think Pogba is most dangerous in the final 3rd of the pitch. Whereas I don’t like Pogba deeper than that.

He's never going to leave Bayern.

But if we're thinking of replacing Pogba this is the level we should be looking at.

Very few players I’d want more. I don’t see it happening but it would be amazing.

If we're replacing Pogba there's only one player I want. He wears shorts for boys ages 12-13 and has more meat on his calves than a dairy farm.

As if chiselled by the gods themselves. This is basically the same thing as Bayern wanting Keane or Scholes in their pomp. It’s all just leverage to get the best deal at Bayern and it makes us look bad at the end of the day. I’d like the club to start shutting these rumours down if they aren’t true but the thing is I’m certain we are interested in the likes of this guy and Ramos. Recruitment 101. Go for the one with the best CV in the world if you can afford it.

Me too, dont see it though. Think he is too expensive next to Sancho. I mean we could do it, but we wont and will look for a cheaper option

How would you fit him in? Unless you don't want Sancho.

He only has a year left on his contract. Not sure if he will be too expensive. Perhaps 50-60M which is we will get for Pogba if United sell him this summer. It’s the part to convince the player to come here that is more difficult I think

Unless you are referring to Grealish instead of Goretzka

I mean Goretzka is just looking for a new contract. Bayern will give him what he wants, as he is entering his prime years. They cant afford to lose him and he wants to stay, i am sure.

No chance we can manage this transfer in this window...too many variables...we won't know what we are doing with Pogba until much later in the window and it won't leave us with much time (at least at the pace the club negotiates its transfers) to recruit a replacement if Agent P is leaving.

Fair point.

I'm a little bit out of the loop with Sancho because I've had his transfer threads on ignore for both this summer and last summer.

If it comes down to one or the other, I'd pick Grealish. But from what little I've read about the Sancho transfer, it's probably going to be the latter. I'm just stuck in the past.

I'm sure he'll get the new contract he's after. Coman too, probably.

Bayern's squad size is very small, I don't think they can afford to let players like this leave.
Bayern have definitely priced Coman out of a move.

It's the smart thing to do. Get one last season out of Pogba (instead of losing him for 30m or whatever paltry amount this year) and get a replacement in next year as soon as he leaves.

We have to start talking now if we have any hope of signing someone on free in a year.

It’s early days but we seem to behaving more intelligently in the market now we have an actual recruitment structure, as opposed to whatever the hell Woodward was doing.

He was doing a lot of monitoring and preparing bids
He spent last summer preparing the bids for this summer.

On a side note, Goreztka would be an amazing signing but I doubt he's obtainable. Can he just teach our players how to bulk up even if he doesn't sign for us?

Who is the better fit for our midfield out of him and Camavinga (don't see us getting either)

Robert Lewandowski may be surprised to hear that.
Lewandowski is irreplaceable and worth his €20m salary
Pogba is not irreplaceable, and not worth his current salary.

Not really relevant though is it? They clearly do pay Pogba level wages.

How is it irrelevant? Pogba fanatics are blind. You watch a game and see the player you want him to be. Match results and stats tell us the player he is. United over-pay Pogba. Bayern aren't going to pay those wages to anyone except their top scorer and Lewandowski is their top scorer by a mile.

So I should've written : Bayern don't pay Pogba level wages to anyone except their top scorer.
So what, are we playing a word lawyers' game here; or discussing what will happen with Pogba's contract?
