Cracking player, but I really think he would just be a Sanchez Mk II; huge wages, injury prone and probably just turn to shit once he signed for us. We are trying to rebuild our side - we do that by signing younger players to build the team around, not signing aging superstars on huge wages who are on the decline.

no no no !

His heart just wouldn't be in it as he has made it clear he doesn't want to leave Real and would only come for the money like Sanchez.

Kinda laughed at Madrid not giving him a send off. Sure he's got medals but the lack of support he has gotten, well, that's Madrid for you and he chose to go there.

Zidane has all but confirmed they want rid, he's firing back they need to honour his contract and he'll play golf if he doesn't play. I smell a loan deal and most likely back to Spurs. Loaning him I think would be an "OK" option but not a great option.

To be fair if we had a time machine and went back to 2013, a Sanchez - Lukaku - Bale front three is the stuff of PL dreams.

Scored in two champions league finals. Won it 4 times, including 3 in a row. No send off. What a club.

People talking about a send off? He's got three years left on his contract and where would he go? Perhaps Spurs would want him but that means Real must pay part of his wages.

Could we take him on loan for a season with right of return in January if it isn’t working out

Only deal would be a loan deal fee plus 1/2 his wages, or just all of his wages, still probably cost 20 - 25 mil for a season but probably worth 10 - 15 points if he plays half the minutes/games, great option to have from the bench or to start and bring off either way an excellent short term solution to help bed in some young players. He has a good attitude and would at present raise utd's profile, lets face it we have seen the who would sign for Utd brigade out, well if we could get Bale on a season loan it would go a long way to show intent.

I would go as far as saying having Bale here on loan next season would pretty much guarantee top 4, for less than 30 mil that would be amazing, half of this teams problem is morale when we are winning it is all easy when we lose heads drop... Bale would help bouy up the morale and open up defences which we struggle with at present when we are not on form

After Rooney and then fecking Sanchez, this signing should not be sought out for me. I do not want Utd to be the fading stars/mercenary retirement home anymore.

Let him stay in Spain with his rudimentary Spanish linguistic skills and his golf clubs.

No thanks. He's dead set on seeing out his contract and playing golf. This guy must have a terrible personality

Loan deal would be perfect. If we don't, I am sure someone will. Everton, Arsenal, Tottenham. Definitely worth a punt with a loan.

Wouldn’t even take him on loan. It’s like, how many more times before we learn?

United fans: I’m sick of watching unmotivated, lazy mercenaries walking around the pitch while picking up massive paychecks. We need to get back to basics, and sign some young and hungry players who actually want to graft for the badge, and consider it an honour to play for United.

Also United fans: Gareth Bale? That’s it, he’s the answer!

Don't think there is.

Doesn't sound like he gives a shit about football enough anymore to produce what he's capable of.
Think that's a result of the environment he's in. It does take a toll when you can feel the lack of love.

He hasn't played a lot, barring injuries, he still has some juice left in those legs despite his age.

He’s an injury prone winger in his thirties, who’s on 600k a week, is declining rapidly and has turned us down at least twice before. How many more alarm bells do we need? He’s exactly the opposite of what we should be going for.

i dont want Bale as much as the next guy here but its unfair on him to label him a mercenary or assume he'd be another Sanchez

he'd be injured all the time, but aside from that there's absolutely no reason to doubt his mentality - he's a winner

It's probably different posters, not the same.

Any rational person knows that there's only mercenaries now. It's just a matter of getting the ones that want to perform.

The guy can't play a full 90 minute match. It would be like hiring a taxi driver who is a brilliant driver but never gets to the end of a journey. But I say feck it anyway and let's sign him.

I don’t think I’ll ever manage to rid myself of the fear that the club will be stupid enough to sign Bale until he retires.

If We sign him, I predict something like this will happen:
  • Twitter announcement of him playing Glory Glory ManUnited on an Ukulele
  • Becomes the first choice for every RedCafe lineups during off-season
  • Scores a hattrick in first PL game
  • Scores 2 and assists 2 in the second one
  • Have goal/game ratio > 1.6 and assist/game ratio > 0.6 for the next 8 games
  • People begin to wonder if He's the signing of the season - Bale comes back and comes home. The lost Mancunian kid who somehow was born in Wales
  • Scores another hattrick
  • Bale speaks to the media "Ole brings the best out of me, I swear on me manbun"
  • Bale gets a 'minor injury' & out for 2 weeks as 'precaution'
  • Back on the field and has a pass accuracy of 69%
  • Ole keeps playing him, He becomes very inconsistent, hot and cold ala rooney
  • Gets another injury, out for 4 weeks
  • Back on the field and struggles to control his feet
  • Loses ability to cross
  • Loses his fist touch
  • Season ends
  • Gareth Bale - Juventus and Inter met his agent, reported by Di Marzio
:lol::(

I’d pay his wages and take him on loan, see how he gets on. World class on his day but not sure he still got it.

He might make us a more appealing destination for young players coming in too.

I dont believe the quotes regarding Bales comments in the changing rooms about sticking his contract out while playing golf etc..

Graham Hunter has just said on Talksport that the media in Spain are Real Madrid puppets and say anything that benefits Perez and Madrid's best interests which is a well known fact. They have put this type of pressure on players before when they want them out.

In my opinion Gareth Bale is fuming over his treatment by Zidane. The loss to Betis in Madrids last game showed bale storm off the pitch without doing the lap of the pitch with the other players to clap the Bernebau fans. He was an unused sub in the game that ended 0-2 to Betis and zidane chose not to bring him on.

Bale is going to leave Real and there will be many clubs interested in getting him in. Yes the wage demands will be a problem for most but with Real Madrid seemingly wanting him out will know that they will have to subsidise some of his wages. If the deal is right for UTD then we should absolutely be interested in getting him. His contract currently runs until 2022 which means Real will have to subsidise his wages until then! That could mean that a deal for Bale, playing the remainder of his career with us for alot less than what is being quoted.

I am starting to come around to the idea of Bale coming in. With players like Lukaku and Sanchez hopefully off this summer i could see Bale playing up top with a new look attack.

I’m sticking to my guns. No for Bale.

It’ll only end badly, even as a paid loan.

We need to get young hungry talent in. I’d be blasting doors down for Sancho, not wasting a second on Bale.

It depends on the deal - Free/loan/around 10 mill with Real subsidizing half his wages is a no brainier. Anything more and we would be absolutely bat sht crazy to risk another Sanchez.

Honest question, if anybody has examples...

Has there ever been one of those player who seems done at a high level club... which goes to another one at 30 and BOOM he's playing like when he was at his physical peak 4 or 5 years ago...?

Give Real £30m and get them to subsidise his wages and he can come. Otherwise, a hard pass from us.

Just no, 30 y/o with an injury list like Wilshere on astronomical wages. Who now at 30 is a bit of a prima donna with very little motivation having won everything there is to win.

Struggling to think of goalscorers.
