Let's talk 'keepers: who do we buy and why?

Can we bring Kovar back?

Livaković is not in Mourinho's plans, maybe we should go for him.
Twice a week I repeat: of course you can, Leverkusen want to get rid of him. Which also means you could but should not.

Who’s out there for £30 - £40 million max that can get us out of this pickle?

Liverpool are signing Mamardashvili, which will leaver Kelleher as third choice at Anfield. His contract is up at the end of next season. He is surely going to be moving. Proven in big matches, can handle pressure. I'd go for him. (Anyone remember when we have signed anyone from them before?)

A big NO to Kovář. He has failed to become the Leverkusen No.1 which is all that is needed to know.

United already have a promising giant keeper with ball skills, sound reflexes and imposing presence. Radek Vítek, currently on loan at Linz and earning positive reviews. His current contract runs for a further two years, allowing United the option of loaning him out again next season, should they feel that would benefit him greater in the long term. However, with the current mess between the sticks, Manchester United may decide to consider the youngster as an option for the first team squad. Vítek, obviously aware of what is going on at United, may well decide to forego a loan move next season and fight for a place in the first team.

It is, at this stage, a pretty big if but Radek Vítek may well be the one to solve the issue, which along with putting the ball in the net at the other end of the pitch, remains one of the major problems currently ailing United. Personally, I believe that they will study Vítek, Graczyk, Harrison & Mee closely before paying for another keeper.

That shower of scouse shite will not sell to United.

I had hoped that United would sign Mamardashvili, as he looks a fine young keeper but alas, despite having a pair of good keepers already, the filth went and grabbed another one - probably to prevent a rival from taking him...they are to keepers what Chelsea are to wingers

I agree that we should have been in for Mamardashvili. But as for Kelleher, Liverpool is now run by businessmen, not locals - can't see why they would turn down a bid from us.

We really don’t need to spend that

I don’t want another hipster GK who does tricks

Give me some 6”5, mid-30’s, boring, stable GK for £3-9m who’ll be reliable and do his job

Whenever I have seen Sels, his reflexes looked deGea-esque, should be cheaper considering he's 33, so if they miss out on Champions league we might get a very experienced GK at Edwin's age. And get Vitek as a no2, already playing men's football. Get rid of Onana for 10m - at least he will be off the squad. Not sure if we could get anything more since his season blunder highlights is just ridiculous...

Any other team comes in though and they will accept their bid over United. Good, reliable keepers are not easy to come by and I would expect competition.

I will take Trafford from Burnley. City graduate, home grown, sweeper GK too.

I wanted us to sign him too, but John O'Shea let slip on the International break that he's already got a summer move lined up. It seems like he's going to either Newcastle or Bournemouth.

Man Utd wouldn’t go in for him, far too risky.

Even if we did, Kelleher would have to know the abuse he would get - it’s just not worth the hassle for all parties involved.

Whilst he’s always don’t well, I would have some serious reservations over the lack of games he’s had in his career and that he’s never been a no 1.

I agree, it would be brilliant to get an experienced keeper for the next 3-5 years. To stabilize the defence and have the effect maybe as VDS had. But I really can't see anyone out there, who matches that for a reasonable fee.

James Trafford & Mile Svilar my favourites therefore.

Suzuki or Lunin or Maignan of he refuses a new deal at Milan

Is Jaaskelainen still available?

Agreed. They also need to be able to score goals. For us. Just want that to be clear.

He also looks like a bank manager, so therefore satisfies the people that want a nice, boring, stable keeper too.

Ramsdale would do a far better job than Onana if we could get him for a reasonable price.

That's the name that came to mind aswell given Man. United will be working on a budget this summer where they can't just drop 50m on endless positions.

Ramsdale had a really weird career. Three relegations but also a very good two years at Arsenal where he shone in secure defensive units, very nearly won the league and had a good rapport going with the Arsenal fanbase.

Think he's been linked with West Ham but if he's available for 20m then I could see Man. United making a move just to see if he could get back to Arsenal level and provide serious competition for Onana.

I wouldn’t be against De Gea or Kovar coming back as the back up keeper or IF and it’s a big IF Kelleher WAS available he’d be a good shout and if he’s third choice but as said already would the bin dippers sell at a reasonable fee to us and would he cross the divide ?

Apparently Milinkovic-Savic has been really good and I'd love to have an absolute giant bastard like him in goal.

Kepa is looking good and has impressed for Bournemouth this season. Should be a cheap option with a year left of his Chelsea contract.
