Lewis Hall

For 50 millions we should be all over it. We can rotate him with Luke Shaw next year. Bring Shaw we when we have to be more resolute on defense and bring Hall when we have to be more attacking

This is a player you buy and then not think about his position for the next 5-7 years. I'd happily pay a premium for that with how few great left backs come around in the modern game. He also is the perfect fit for some of those left side profiles we have that love to drift inwards.

I say maybe
He's gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
He's our Lewis Hall

Please make this happen. I’d happily pay 50m for him. Top quality left back and can be for many years

Poor Harry Amass, a shiny new transfer usually trumps an academy lad in most fans eyes.

Hall aged 21 would kill off Amass aged 19, so you should only spend the £50M if you fell Harry wasn’t going to make it imo.

Amass suffered a severe hamstring injury on January that keep him out of the season and will take time to recover from it. Next season he should go on loan hopefully to a Premier League team, and them he can get integrate in the team at the 27/28 season after Luke Shaw leaves. Hall and Amass could be our left backs options from 2027 and forward

Yeah hopefully that's the plan

Don’t Everton really need full backs?

The more I think about it, the more this signing excites me. I really hope Newcastle don’t try to absolutely rinse us but you just know they will.

If he’s good enough, he will play.

Shaw only has a season left.

No one would seriously advocate Amass at his stage of development as a first team starter.

Tbh, I'm not sure what they need. I know they are trying to sign a MF and are going for Hackney

I think their fullback options are pretty poor tbh. And overly defensive. Amass could be an interesting option, but probably not enticing unless they'd get a buy-option they can trigger if he does well.

Yes, an established premier league player does trump an academy prospect who still has it all to prove. At least if we seriously want to compete in the PL and CL.

Shaw is out of contract next year anyway so Amass still has time to prove himself and move into a senior squad spot in the coming years. But our transfer policy cannot revolve around hopes that such academy prospects eventually become good enough because the reality is, the vast majority don’t.

Shaw is probably gone after next season

I can see why we’ve potentially cooled our interest in Tonali then. No way Newcastle sells us two key players. LB is an obvious need with Cunha and Dorgu likely occupying the left sided attacking positions.

Yeah I am all for prioritising this signing

I’d much rather get Hall than Tonali.

If they need a fullback, I don't think they will go for Amass unless they can get a buy back option. It's more probably Amass will get a loan deal to a championship club. Maybe a loan to West Ham after they sell Diouf

It's a no brainer if its 50+ add ons, perfect already extablished English player with ton of potential. Like for like replacement for Shaw too. Amas should go out on loan again and compete for the spot season after the next one.

One thing which concerns me though is that we seem to neglect our RB position. Dalot sucks and Mazraoui is okay but hardly players who would elevate our team to a challenger. Would hope we have something in mind too. Perhaps if Jose likes Dalot we can get some money and reinvest it right away, but likely won't happen all at one window.

WOuld make sense if there was a fullback capable of playing both sides to the max level, but those are rare..
