Lewis Hall

Nathaniel Brown to Bayern looks around £50-55m which is pretty high, but if Lewis Hall is £70m odd...why not throw out a bid for Balde at Barcelona. I like Hall but just personal opnion, Balde is way better, only Davies and Mendes are better in my opinion

A Barcelona player born in the city isn’t going to leave to come to United, there’s zero chance of that happening.

Hall isn’t going to push for a move, I’d say any deal is a none starter.

Barca seem open to selling him this summer.

He has a lot of potential, but has also been very inconsistent and had injury issues across recent seasons.

If the club is prepared to sell there is. Also sure ive read if he had to play for any other club he named us a couple of years ago...the way they are attacking the transfer market they are surely going to sell players

We need more English players and he’s one of the most talented young ones so why not! The problem is would Newcastle sell? Probably not.

Like all the Newcastle links, seems highly unlikely. Not when we need to do major surgery to the midfield.

It’s between he and Tonali as the next big money sale from Newcastle and Tonali is the most likely and most agitated for a move

At 70m, he'd be pretty low on the priority list.

He isnt the finished product and at that price, you can get most full backs at any time.. If it is 70m. this wont be a steal and missing out on him wont mean we'd have to overpay to get someone else...

Focus on other areas/players for now.
Where did you pluck that figure from?

I agree Hall looks like a really good candidate for long term Shaw successor..but I don't think we will be able to get him out of Newcastle for a price we can afford this summer.

I do hope we sign a top LB who is ready to go straight into the first 11, but I think it's more likely to be someone like Truffert or someone else in the 30-40m price range.

Maybe next year when the Newcastle owners get even more disinterested.

He’s gonna be a hell of a lot more expensive next year than he is now.

It’s a now or spend £70m on a left back next season which is crazy

He’d be a perfect left back investment

£70m completely dwarfs the current world record for a full back. Hall is good but no way is he worth that kind of money. Lets move on.

Liverpool paid 40mil for Kerkez!
Get fecking real!
Seriously!

£68mil was the record for lucas hernandez back in 2019. He played his football at atletico and france predominantly at left back. At bayern it was nearly a 50-50 spilt between left back and centre back.

Gvardiol for city cost £77mil and has played most of his games at left back.

So Lewis Hall at £70mil, wouldn't be a world record for a fullback.

Balde’s current contract is also very low, something like 2m a yr. It makes for a much safer investment as we can move on if it fails or increase his salary to a elite level if he performs.

If Bayern go for Brown, maybe we could bid for Davies? Not seen him much recently but clearly class if he is fit.

Bolded bit is doing the heavy lifting here. Having both Shaw and Davies in the squad is just tempting Murphy's law

Have we not learnt our lesson after getting burned with Mount?

We are now being linked to Cucurella for 40-50m €. Is it genuine? Or to pressure Hall to push for a move?

Either way Cucurella is also class.

That move makes sense to me as it’d give the kids we have at LB a chance to grow and become second choice behind him after Shaw goes.

He wants to go to Barcelona. I doubt there is any truth in it. He is also very, very good versatile player. He just needs to cut the Ashley Young antics.

If Cucurella is available at this sort of price range and is willing to come to Man Utd then we should absolutely go for him.

Are our young left backs so promising we should be basing squad building decisions around them?

I'd be quite happy to ignore them for now personally. Sign Hall and if Amass or Leon or whoever else I'm forgetting were to end up the level required then we decide what to do about that issue when it presents, rather than try to pre-empt it.
