If we get Robinson/Raum, there's also a distinct possibility we dont go for Hall next season, and say we're happy with what we have, and see Dorgu as LB backup. Makes less sense to drop 100M+ just on LBs in the space of a year.
There's also the possibility that another club like City/Liverpool swoop in.
We've got a free run at him. We know the price, its not super crazy. He's a perfect Shaw replacement. It makes all the sense in the world. Just get it done.

Raums a good player but I would say Hall is better, Pl proven and 7 years younger. I think 60m on Hall is better value than 30m on raum

I don't think we will go for the Hall option or Raum. I see the likes or Salinas, Sets or someone of that ilk. I know most want an improvement in Shaw but I see us getting more of a young back up who will gradually take his place
Not without borrowing the money, no. We do have the credit facility, but the club will understandably be very cautious about piling on more debt.
What about getting a player from a tier 2 national team like ROK. Lee Tae Seok in the Austrian league. I am sure that our data people would be able to do their research on less obvious targets like that.
Erm, Rashford's 14 goals and 14 assists last year, and the level we all know he's capable of when he's in form should leave Dorgu plenty worried about playing time, especially if Cunha has a massive year. He's a very young guy, another year playing mostly left back would be fine for him, hopefully improve him defensively.

But it's not inconceivable that he really wants out. All their best players have left and it's very unclear where they can/will finish next season, while a transfer to United nets him more money, more fame and European football. Any loyalty bonuses he'd lose through handing in an official request could probably be recouped through his much increased wages as well. So who knows. I said before that I think this can still happen, if the player actually pushes for it. Even at a high price.
Think it's one of the last resorts if Newcastle are digging their heels in and refusing to sell. If he hands in a written transfer request, he forfeits loyalty bonuses and any unpaid signing-on fees tied to his original deal and will put extra pressure on (not to mention it'll piss off the Geordies and make it uncomfortable for him if he stays).
Maz is good enough to get us through the group stage. Then we can field Shaw if/when we meet PSG or Bayern. We are not serious contenders to reach a CL final, obviously.
And yet his best seasons come when he’s fit and we’ve bought in competition for his starting spot.

Isn’t that the issue though? Our expectations have been so eroded that a lot of our fanbase talk about just making do, not actively trying to get closer to competing for the PL and CL by improving our quality in an area that’s an obvious weakness.
Sure, we can probably survive the group stage using our injury prone back up right back to provide depth to our injury prone left back. Just like we could use existing squad options to cover other areas of weakness. Or we could just buy a fecking left back because it’s obvious we need a left back.
And I get that we might be a bit skint and we’re trying to be a bit more prudent in the market, but our current net spend is about 30 million. If we seriously want to compete in the PL and CL but can’t afford a LB and another CM then what the feck are we even doing here.
…and it’ll probably be for a bit more than we’d ideally like to pay. £60-65m plus add ons, I reckon. Mbeumo money.

There is a subsection of fans on here who are very much happy with the just taking part trophy. They get more excited for a future that never comes rather than the present. We're going into this season without a real stand out team in the league and yet we will always have to wait for our 5 year plan before we can dream of competing
If we overpay for Hall I’m not that bothered as we seem to have got good value for our 2 midfield signings, especially in the current market
If he asks to leave, that will result in a hit to his loyalty bonus (or something), but would also be a clear signal he wants to come. If he really does so, United should do all we can to make it happen.
Yeah, most likely. I think we’re in a position where we may just have to accept slightly overpaying for him. Newcastle don’t need to sell, we desperately need a left back, and they’ll obviously know that when it comes to negotiations.
With all that in mind, plus the fact he’s already such a talented young player with plenty of room to develop, I think £60m or thereabouts could end up looking like pretty good value. Especially in the current market, where you’re seeing some ridiculous fees being thrown around for players with far more question marks.

But we’re clearly after Hall? I don’t think Shaw, who didn’t get picked for England despite starting every league game, would kick up too much of a fuss if we got support in.
It’s fairly thin gruel out there for other names at left back. Raum? 28, so would only be a fairly short term solution. Salinas and Seys are both young and totally unproven. If Shaw did get crocked again, it’s a big ask of a kid.
Hall? He’s hopefully the left back for the next decade. Is that worth going to extra £5-10m for? Probably.
