We might sign someone like that Spanish guy for 17m euro, not Hall for 70+5m sterling. We are skint.
Yeah agreed. He’s unlikely to be cheaper next summer and it’s still a better long term value proposition than 30-40 million on the likes of Raum or Robinson.

We don’t know if we’re actually that skint or just posturing. Telling people we have loads of money to spend obviously isn’t a great transfer strategy. We’ve spent so little this window, I’d be surprised if we don’t have the money for a bigger purchase. Either way, we should be aiming to improve the squad, not just make do with what we’ve got when we’re lacking the depth to be competitive on multiple fronts.

I see they're getting smashed by Everton, too. Only pre season so can't read too much into it, but never a good sign.
I think so. We have the money (I think) and I believe he wants to join us. He knows there's a path for him with Shaw coming to the back end of his career. Would be a perfect move for him and us. Get it done!

There were some vague links with Robinson. Worse long term profile age wise, but would add some experience they’ve lost with Bruno G, Tonali and Gordon leaving.
If we had the money you don't wait until the end of the window to spend it. That makes no sense. I think we have 50m to spend but can't decide how to spend it.

We do though. Just look at our history - we’ve done plenty of big deals late in the window. Statistically speaking more deals get done in August than in any other month, and clubs will often wait until later in the window to see what might happen with particular targets, with some not being available or prioritised until there’s been a domino effect from other moves. It’s not like every club is spunking all their money way before the window closes.
Agree here - Berrada basically said as much that they had some priorities (which I would say were CM, and I suspect 2 signings covers that), and they would assess market opportunities also, which I’d say is where we are at now.
Hall may have to down tools to make this one viable though.
You have 1 to choose this summer between:
- Signing left back for long term and stick Mbeumo, Rashford, and Cunha as no 9 options if Sesko is injured OR
- Signing striker and plays Dorgu as the left back instead.

The only way it makes sense is if we never thought we'd sign him. The links are pure press speculation. That's me giving those in charge the benefit of doubt
Yeah, they're hurting themselves. It'll be some of the alternatives mentioned, perhaps Raum from Bundesliga.

I think the plan was always to prioritize midfield then see what was left for other positions.
Because we've spent less than what was maybe originally planned on midfield, we have decided that a Lewis Hall deal was worth looking into now (as oppose to next Summer perhaps when the price should be more reasonable (2 years left on his contract rather than 3) especially if Newcastle miss out on Europe again)
But obviously the price is going to be even higher than we imagined because of Newcastle's stronger resistance after selling all those players.
The question is, how badly do we need/want Hall for this season?
I really want us to sign him. But is it something that can wait until next Summer?
The only risk is, Newcastle could in theory have a great season where they finish in the UCL places and Hall goes up a level - making him even more unattainable. This is of course, somewhat unlikely.

Apparently Newcastle told us that he’s not for sale and that they actually want to bolster their full back options.
If our interest is concrete and that’s Newcastles stance, then it’s really down to Hall to kick up a fuss now.
Bruno G, Tonali and Gordon didn't make any fuss and they were sold quickly for premium price. Isak made a fuss and they also still got premium fee.
If offer is right, they sell. Truth is that we don't want to pay (right or wrong) their Hall's valuation.
After already getting 250 mil for players, they for sure will not sell Hall for lower price no matter what he does.
I'm pretty sure that Bruno G and Tonali insisted they wanted to leave, no idea about Gordon and as far as I know Hall hasn't asked to leave yet, his main beef was with the coach who's no longer there
There aren’t any circumstances in which a player picks staying at Newcastle over coming to ManUtd, especially now with the state that they are in, Eddie Howe or no Eddie Howe.
We just won’t pay what it would take.
That was not my point. My point was that whatever he wants or does, Newcastle will demand full price (rumour is over 60 mil pounds). And, obviously, we have zero interest in paying that.

Dedic is a versatile attacking full back who is right footed but played often at left back under Newcastle's current manager at Salzburg. Kinda like a Livramento (but worse defensively). They don't really have other fullbacks anyway so I don't think it's a sign they're selling Hall anyway. Hall, Livramento and Dedic would be it for them, with Burn sometimes too.
I think it’s safe to say at this point that he won’t be doing. That time has passed now, I feel, and others have already forced their way out ahead of him.
I'd love to see the bank vault opened for Hall. Although we could quibble Dalot/Mazraoui and yes we could use a proper backup striker, we're in great shape otherwise to contend for the PL title.

Of the players who are seemingly somewhat feasible targets for us now, Hall is the one I'd spend that bit extra to get.
I think he's already a very, very well rounded left-back and could very well become the best in the country.
