Liam Delap | £30m release clause?

I feel like it's better to pay say 60m for Sesko than 30m for Delap. Doubt we have the money though. Sigh.

Rather get Delap, Vlahovic is one of the most overrated strikers in recent times.

I wouldn't mind Vlahovic but Delap is certainly better than most are making out. He started the season very well performance wise and things metered off when Ipswich couldn't get beyond that ceiling of performing decently and getting a result.

I'm confident he excels so long as he gets regular playing time at his next club. If United can bring in Delap, Cunha and a Mbuemo it revolutionises the threat and dynamics of attack.

No Juve are terrible and Vlahović has become extremely underrated due to their turgid style. Would do very well in the Prem IMO.
I don't know anythiing about him but he has roughly a goal every 2.5 games in Serie A and the same for Serbia so he's definitely not terrible

Great technical ability and overall play. Goal contribution rate of one in two in a turgid Juve side the past few years. In his prime and available for £30mish. What’s not to like. But no we prefer Liam Delap. It’s like we’re allergic to bargain deals.

Tammy Abraham has similar figures playing in Serie A over the last 4 seasons and he is at a worse club and missed almost an entire year with an ACL injury. Should we buy him?

Vlahovic is slow, lacking in technique and has the work rate of Rashford after a night out in Belfast. He would want parity with our top earners and we would be stuck trying to shift him after one season of watching him shit the bed against PL defenders.

Any striker we all agree on?

Abraham had one good season in Serie A and that was three years ago now. Completely nonsense take.

I would take Danny Welbeck over Vlahovic. This is one that doesn't need much explanation - he had a purple patch at Fiorentina he's been dining out on for years and the Italian media have done what they do best - tout megastar fees for just good players. Or in this case, a shite one. I don't know how anybody watches Vlahovic and doesn't want to tear their hair out.

Edit: actually if age and availability weren't factors I'd take Danny Welbeck over a lot of players. The striker market is a bit crap.

INEOS seem to have strict policy of no over 25's unless they are in last year of contract or free, daft really because we need to add more experience and firepower in attack

Vlahovic has 1 good season in 4 for Juventus and they have been trying to dump him for 2 years. The point is not that Abraham is any good but that Vlahovic would flop hard in the Premier League.

Vlahović hasn’t even been at Juventus four seasons. He was signed in January of 2022. He scored 24 total in Serie A that season between Fiorentina and Juve. He scored 16 in the league last season. So that’s two good seasons in the last four. He picked up injuries the other two including this season but his stats per 90 were and are still good.

I am not claiming he’ll be a world beater for us or wherever he lands. Just think he can still do a job at a top club, especially for one more positive and attacking than Juve have been under Allegri.

Vlahovic has had a shit season now. We shouldn't take him regardless of the Abraham comparison.

This transfer really concerns me, you think about all the mistakes we've made with not having a decent striker and then the solution is Delap?

He might turn out to be excellent as may Hojlund but Delap and Hojlund as our two options is pure negligence. No coach should be expected to hit top 6 with that let alone top 4.

If we bring in Delap we have to get another striker and spread the risk at least, David on a free perhaps.

David in advanced talks with Napoli apparently, not signing experienced striker to supplement him is totally negligent. INEOS will probably come out with some excuse about prioritising other areas when we desperately need goals

We might get him if we get into the champions league

We’re being dictated to by fecking championship players
