Sure, it's cheating in a way, they've found a loophole. But at least they're pumping their own money into their club. What have the Glazers/INEOS done besides riddle us with debt and sack people?
 
Huge step up for him. He’ll be required to put in decent performances twice a week and he wasn’t too prolific at Ipswich.
 
Guess another positive for us is that Delap is very clearly a handpicked Maresca player. This isn’t like in the previous few years where the club just go out and sign players and tell the manager to make it work. Some weren’t even involved much if at all in transfers.
 
Quite gutted, for that price, he's pretty much guaranteed PL quality. He would definitely improved us right away as his overal play is very good, which people dont understand looking only at the statistics in his pre-breakthrough season for the shittest of teams. He will bench Jackson soon and allow Chelsea toplay more aggressive style of football.

Now we are left with Shick who don't press, low chance for Osimhen who will get injured, or Gyokeres who will opt for Arsenal. Let's hope they are after Sesko, because for Sesko we don't have money..
 
Would have been a decent punt at 30 million for United. Albeit he wouldn’t have taken us up a level.
But he’s made the right move even if he’ll likely play a lot less football at Chelsea. Moving to United atm as a young player I don’t think is the smartest move.
 
We need a more proven striker anyway. We've gone down the route of potential with Hojilund and Zirkzee, just get in somebody proven now.

Yep people saying we need someone with more experience but seemingly oblivious to the fact the market is thin, especially for us offering no CL. Hopefully we can find someone.

Agree but I think we’re deeper at 10 than we are at 9.

I would rather us blow other clubs out of the water on a player like Gyokeres now than realize we don’t have the money or PSR room because we spent on a second 10.
 
Kind of conflicted about this one. I'm not devastated he's going to Chelsea but I don't know who else we can afford.
 
I think he's made a mistake, Chelsea will sign other strikers. He'd get alot more game time with us.
 
I would have loved him. I think he’s going right to the top, but having seen how he plays football and how much of a twat he is on the pitch, he’s the perfect Chelsea striker.
 
Honestly couldn’t care less about this. Never wanted him and he’s really nothing special.
 
He's off to Chelsea so we move on, imo the only reason we were in for him was it was £30million and cheap for a Premier league Striker. .. I don't think he's getting many minutes at Chelsea to be fair but hey ho that's were he wanted to go.

Surely won’t be 30% of the deal as that would essentially see Ipswich just getting back the £20m they paid for him. Presume it’s 30% of the profit (so about £3m).
 
Gutted it looks like we’ve missed out on him. The type of player the fans would really get behind and I think he’d have been a success here. I hope we have a good back up plan!
 
How many players do chelsea need ?

They have 4 strikers now ? Nkunku, Jackson, Delap and that other guy ive never heard of

Well you're after a striker, are you not? And you have Hojlund, Zirkzee and that other kid you poached from Arsenal?

have you seen Hojlund play ? Is Amorim starts him on match day 1 there will be riots and mental breakdowns. Hes clearly out. Zirkzee is more AM than striker

I dont think the Arsenal kid is a done deal

Nkunku is as good as gone and Guiu will be sent on loan most likely with Ipswich fancying him to replace Delap apparently. So it’ll just be Delap & Jackson.

And Nkunku wasn’t even an actual striker which was a major reason he never worked under Maresca. He’s not a natural striker but more of a a hybrid winger/second striker.
