Someone just compared the French league to the English league.

If you can't see the blatantly obvious difference in the competition level between the 2 and the level of opposition faced then it's your fault.

I mean wasn't the league behind the Portuguese league very recently for a while....

French league is currently way behind the other 4 leagues in terms of quality. Even the Bundesliga with the Bayern domination are a much better league with better quality of Football from top to bottom.

In England, Liverpool and possibly current Chelsea are better "cup teams" than City who are the best league team closely followed by Liverpool in that regard. That's the level of cut throat competitive quality in English Football.

Not even PSG’s own players or fans give a shit about winning that dead rubber of a league. Tons of fans left with 15 minutes to go and the stadium was completely empty ten minutes after full time. Players didn’t do a lap of honour, no applause, nothing.

What a total fecking embarrassment of a shit show. That club begins and ends with Qatari oil money, from the players to the “trophies”. There’s zero substance beyond that.
Bayern celebrated their 10th in a row a lot harder than PSG their title. Strange

That's because of the rift with the supporters. Their stadium has been dead for many weeks now, and the ultras chose to celebrate outside the stadium rather than with the players inside.

The atmosphere was very weird yesterday and multiple players came out and said it put a damper on the title. Very different from their last title wins.

Despite Bayern’s dominance, it’s far more of a self built club with a connection to their supporters and a deep history. Although 10 in a row is not good for anyone.

Emiliano Sala is the Nantes forward who died in a plane crash while he was making his move to Cardiff.

It's not just this season, Nice ultras are on the extreme lunacy side of things. They are not the only ones but they are at the forefront, some of them are illegal and banned but still manage to "sneak" in.

What's going on with fans on France in general. I only have a very broad view of Ligue 1, but my impression is that there have been quite a few shocking incidents since capcity was ramped up again.
Am I mistaken or has fan culture taken a turn for the worse? In comparison most sets of fans in Bundesliga just seem to be happy to celebrate their return to normal atmospheres. The most excessive thing that comes to my mind is one idiot in Bochum aiming to well with his beer mug.

Nothing new happened. There used to be a solid amount of idiots and they are still around, that's why many groups aren't allowed to travel to certain games, be anywhere football stadiums or are escorted by the police on their way to stadiums. I think that the lack of supporters during the pandemic made people forget about them.

Bordeaux is all but buried... St Etienne can still catch Lorient, and if they don't they will have a second chance in a playout against the third of Ligue 2.
Ah yeah I forgot about the playoff system. Looks like Lorient have the better fixtures too . Most Ligue 1 titles (up until this year) and potentially going down. Must be the biggest relegation ever if it happens.

Ah yes, fighting with Payet earlier in the season. They certainly don’t play nice….

Just seen this on twitter about the Nice ultras.

After the tragic collapse of a building in Toulon in the 80s, it took them 2 days to put this on a banner when they faced the team from that city.

“Toulon 13 morts : merci l’immeuble”

meaning
“Toulon 13 dead: thank you building”

I guess it was the two points deductions for fan behavior that really stuck in my mind.

Not good if true.
[RMC Sport] For the day against homophobia, all Ligue 1 clubs play a special shirt to raise awareness about this. Idrissa Gueye did not want to play with a rainbow shirt for the day against homophobia and in support of the LGBTQ+ community and decided to boycott the match.

St Etienne relegated. Auxerre promoted.

Crazy scenes as Auxerre win the shootout with the fans storming the pitch and attacking the players, throwing smoke bombs and flares at them.

Not aiming at Ligue 1, but is it just me that returning from the pandemic, we're seeing the new hooligan era in football? Less regard of standard safety, some group trying to pull unfunny stuff from event...

Agreed. ADO den haag fans at it now also, attacking Excelsior fans :

Also, of course Liverpool fan behaviour in the past 24 hours.

I can't help but wonder whether something is wrong with the way the security around football is handled in France. We saw similar scenes many times this season in Ligue 1... And last night it was a very poor organization, 35 minutes delay, and many Pool fans coming in without tickets. while others were not allowed in despite having bought theirs...

I don't know about other leagues but in France lunacy was fairly common, so I wouldn't use the pandemic as an excuse.

Possibly similar reason that all the airports in Europe have gone to shit - experiences staff fired during the pandemic and now they're struggling to re-hire the required numbers and they don't have the necessary experience? Just a guess, I have no idea.

The money that's in football you'd think the security levels would be elite.

Also, some fans are just clowns.

Serious, what is wrong with people?
Sheer stupidity + St Etienne is one of the most iconic Ligue 1 club in history (even if their prime was 45 years ago). Being relegated is a huge shock for their fans.

France has always had big issues with pitch invasions and other stuff, Corsica clubs a prime example. At least the authorities there hand out stadium closures and bans as St Etienne were playing BCD just a few weeks back so clearly had some issues already.

Them and Bordeaux going down are really big relegations, Bordeaux were bottom pretty much all of the season.

It's a temporary decision pending additionnal elements, it's pretty likely they'll be reintegrated in ligue 2. Still a huge blast for Bordeaux though, they days when the world was dreaming of their Zidane/Lizarazu/Dugarry trio are long gone.

Likely that they find 20m of equity?
