Full disclosure, I don’t see many of his games now so this might be a stupid take. But from what I have seen I feel like they really need to start thinking about their defence instead of the attack, is that fair? Each game I’ve seen that sideshow bob looking centre half just chases the ball like a primary school kid, regularly storming out of position and leaving massive gaps. He’ll even sprint across to the ball if his defensive partner has the man covered so it always leaves his own man free

Honestly the standard in the MLS is so bad. Whenever someone's calls it Championship standard, it's a compliment.
I don’t think it’s a bad league at all, obviously it’s a signticant way off Europes big leagues . But I don’t see a lot of the sides they play against being quite as frantic at the back. Again the sample size is small for me though.

There is probably no easy way to figure out the numbers, but he would be a lot closer to 1,000 goals had he always taken every penalty. I am certain he doesn’t give anything about reaching it.
1000 goals is arbitrary and meaningless, especially when they are scored in a third rate league. He could stop now or he could stop at 1000 and there would be no difference to his legacy. Same thing goes for Ronaldo.
Because Messi himself keeps reiterating day by day, match by match, I'll see how I feel. In his own words "Because of my age, the most logical thing is that I won't make it" in his own words. 2022 World Cup was meant to be his swansong but people are still amazed he's defying the odds, still showing up and playing at a high level, 43 goals for Inter Miami this season.
Honestly I think Argentina has a good chance of defending their World Cup but they're all being slept on because no one thinks a country can win back to back. Since lifting the trophy in Qatar they've been the most solid side around, won Copa America 2024, topped CONMEBOL qualification, barely lost a game. Good mix of young and experienced. Why's no one rating them?
