Woeful defender. And cost us any chance in the game with his stupidity.

Thought he was really poor before he got sent off. He’s meant to be one of the senior players. Tonight was the sort of game where he should step up.

Just needs to be sold the summer. Get £20m for him, and put it towards someone who can defend and be on the pitch.

Time for United to be ruthless and get rid of a player who is not good enough, but probably holds a bit of value.

He's not a defender in the Premier, he's a DM. We need to stop fecking about with him in defence.

Cannot be a starter next season.
Squaddie in the less physical games but without an aerial collosus next to him has always left us very vulnerable.

Terrible pass for the second goal, then got sent off for pure stupidity. He can be a defensive liability without the right partner. In hindsight could have started as DM alongside Case with Heaven at the back for this game.

Even the moment of madness aside, he's just a very poor defender, which is further exacerbated by his lack of pace and physicality. If he can't get tight to nick the ball off an attacker he's done for facing his own goal. Absolutely nowhere to be seen when defending balls coming into the box. His ability to pick passes in between the lines are his only real asset and that's not good enough when his weaknesses are so glaring.

I thought the hair pull was tame. It’s hardly like he yanked it forcefully. Have seen players go unpunished doing it to Cucarella. It was a mistake to start him he lacked assurance

On his day against the right opponent he’s still a good player but he can be bullied and his lack of pace exploited too often. Such a petty red card but he was useless from start to finish.

Without his passing skills he is average defender. I would sell him this summer while we can get some money.

Wasn’t great. Red card was nonsense. One of the best goal scoring blocks you’ll see.

No point in having a squad player who is only fit less than 50% of the time. When we need him, he’s likely not available.

Not even counting his injury record , too many weakness's in his game to be a first choice at a club with any real ambition.

Today was never really the right game for him to come back, and he probably wasnt fully fit again - but needs must. Against a physical Leeds team and DCL up front, it was obvious we needed someone like Maguire to outmuscle him/them. Martinez wasnt suited for this one, but we had to play him because we lacked other options. The fact Mainoo was out also meant we needed some vertical passing and linkup play - typically one of Martinez' strengths.

Bad day at the office in general. Great goal line clearance/saving tackle though, and one of the most farcical red cards I have ever seen. Others were worse.

I lost confidence in him some time ago and don't really see him as a long-term player for us. He will only continue to be here if we struggle to find anybody willing to take him off our hands. He's another shite player that ETH brought to the club that I can't wait to get rid of.

Thought he did well in midfield against Villa that one game... Would love us to use him there again instead of Ugarte, and get somebody who can actually deal with headers at the back.

I actually don't blame him for the red. It's a nothing pull. People may think he knew what he was doing based on his character, but to me he wasn't even looking at the hair and was just trying to be physical against a striker who was throwing elbows and getting away with it.

I will however blame him for the second goal. There is no reason to not clear the ball when he got the chance under no pressure. Why he plays that pass to Casemiro I'll never understand. Panic might be the reason but I expect better from him, he's not the kid in the backline.

A decision needs to be made regarding him soon, largely due to his fitness record. I hope we make the correct one.

This is what's being overlooked - he's just come back from injury and was clearly lacking match fitness.

I've been saying the same thing for years, to me he seems more suited as a DMF.

Was he really that bad defensively? DCL and maybe the whole Leeds team have been targeting Yoro and Shaw mostly. I thought he was OK, considering lack of match sharpness.

We were not set up to deal with Leeds setup, whole defensive line was all over the place and I wouldn't blame Martinez for that.

Hair pull was just stupid and I don't buy the "just fight against a physical striker" at all, he knew exactly what he was doing.

Rusty today.

Not mad about the red card as I think thay decision is a complete farce

Yoro is worse off trying to cover Lichas deficiencies.

For all his strengths and exciting moments we are just not good defensively with him in the side.

Works In games where we sit deep. In other games we are suddenly exposed to basic crosses, long balls or physical Cebter forwards.

He was very Lindelof like tonight, just didn't impact the game or put any pressure on their attackers, Yoro was the one taking the criticism but Licha was just miles off the pace and not effective.

Back too soon as for all his limitations you expect aggression and tenacity that wasn't there tonight.

We will look back on this era of handicapping ourselves defensively with a player at CB smaller than most fullbacks on wonder what were we thinking.

Can you think of any clearances off the line for a sure goal from Lindelof?

I'm sure there is one or two given he was here so long, but I doubt you remember one. That save was nothing like Lindelof

Yes, that was superb, but up to then he was terrible. I don't expect Licha to be as passive as he was tonight.

Hmm. So the discussion is that the rule is its a sending off its a pull "with force"

Well that wasnt with force. Absolutely not. Carrick is also suggesting the ref decided it was a red was sent to VAR because it was a clear and obvious mistake. Will be interesting if thats the case

As soon as we get a replacement we will see the difference. The PL is the most athletic in the world, and we have a player in a key position who is so far off it physically.

Game is gone when that is regarded as a red.

Regardless he looked a mile off the pace tonight, that red and suspension for Maguire has proved to be more costly than expected.

We have Maguire and de Ligt. Why havent they been the first choice partnership if thats the case?

Not enough speed and mobility in that pair.

The game moving back to more of a long ball, set piece game changes the discussion significantly though.
