Whether it recurs or not would be a call of the medical team of the target club, and the odds will significantly depend on which league he joins. Leagues like League 1, Serie A, or even La Liga have many games with much lesser intensity than Premier League. Plenty of players who struggle in EPL join other leagues and do fine.

Based on how Shaw played in the second half of last season (the first time he's consistently played at LB in three years) he's not remotely near that level anymore. He was great in some of the big matches where we were happy for him to just sit back and defend, but he was a shadow of his former self in the matches we needed our fullbacks to be providing more.
Shaw is really not one of the better left backs in Europe.

Butt and Scholes opinions are generally terrible in my opinion, they actually seem clueless on players......but agree also on this one, Shaw may not offer what he did going forward but he is still a quality left back. People desperate for us to replace him when we have an absolutely average on the other flank with less back up options is baffling.

Shaw was one to benefit the most out of a 1 game per week season. It allowed him to recover from fatigue thus adding mileage to his game time. That won't happen this season. On top of that his game has changed. Gone are the days of Shaw bombing the left wing as he did against Italy in that Euro Final. He simply lack the legs to do it. Thus we're left with yet another fullback who provides little to no support when the team is in possession ie a player which will force us to play counter attacking football.
That’s never normally the case though. The keeper normally has the most responsibility for keeping a clean sheet. Ain’t just about saves, they organise the defence too. Not sure how a keeper that kept a record number of clean sheets isn’t in your top ten
