You're such a WUM who can't back up his claims once he's called out about them, silly really. At least most of us know that about you by now.
I put he/she on ignore ages ago. Adds nothing to any conversation I've ever been involved in on here. Might be a mod trying to fish out the WUM Liverpool fans on here seeing as we're dealing in conspiracy theories in this thread.

Indeed. The conspiracy theory that false positives are a common enough occurance that getting 13 is entirely plausible.

I heard a stat that Trent's combined goals and assists this season is just 2 shy of the combined number of tests he had to do for the Liverpool squad.

Except that we will still play the game without them.

It was a game in a cup which Klopp has perennially neglected, against Arsenal, who we have an excellent record against under Klopp, and who lost to Nottingham Forest a few days later. We could also rest almost our entire squad after the Arsenal game because we had Shrewsbury at home the game after. If we wanted to fake a Covid outbreak we would've done so a long time ago during the festive period or a few days before against Chelsea away, not this game.

Now we will play the Arsenal game 3 days before an away game to Palace, a side we've struggled against at their ground, whilst very likely still without our AFCON players. Not to mention we also lost the advantage of playing the second leg at home.

There are at least as many arguments to be made, if not more, that we are worse off now rather than we have benefited from the postponement. Unless someone wants to argue we wanted the Arsenal game postponed so we could have more rest before we had to play... Shrewsbury at home with still half of our first team not in the squad or on the pitch.

The lengths of which some on here will go to in order to accuse Liverpool of cheating, based on a protocol followed for the safety of our AND Arsenal's players during a global pandemic, truly is baffling to me.
Please don't feel baffled as for us it's the same team that stuck up for Luiz 'El Vampiro' when he was racist towards our own Evra, to the extent of the t-shirt shenanigans and Sir Kenny making a fool of himself. :D

I respect your opinion but respect others who may have a different opinion of your team.

I see another conspiracy theory.
Oh, but he doesn't read my posts. ;)
It's called humour and other times banter.

You know United had a series of false positives in July 2021 right? It can happen.

Here's a better question though. Why would Klopp openly admit it in a press conference? Why would we have a game against Arsenal at the Emirates moved deliberately, knowing full well that our next available slot would likely take it from three days prior to a home game against Shrewsbury to three days before an away game against Palace? Why would we remove the advantage of having the home leg second? Why would the training ground be closed for three days?

Just sit and have a think about how stupid this is and you'll realize that there's a reason the EFL didn't investigate further, and granted Liverpool's request in the first place.

Well it would be pretty obvious when his whole squad are spotted in training 4 days after getting a match postponed for a covid outbreak. It's not like your club have been constantly whining throughout this period how they are overstretched and need a rest either. They got their rest one way or another and now they play with a fresh team. Imagine had they played whilst tired and without Salah & Mane. That would have been frightfully unfair.

We played Spurs and Chelsea away with several Covid cases to key players as well as injuries. We played Tyler Morton in midfield against Spurs. What are you talking about?

Your manager's been moaning more than anyone by the way.

Yes and as soon as you lose Salah and Mane to the AFCON your players get their well earned rest. Got to be as fresh as possible given the unfair circumstances of losing your best players.

He might have moaned about it but the difference is that we played every single game and you lot got a game postponed because of some conveniently bullshit false positive test fiasco.

Your opinions are nuts as far as I'm concerned. You think whatever you want. Go complain to the EFL about it. They're the ones who accepted Liverpool's request, and are satisfied that it met the requirements.

Christ almighty.

How one can be fairly reasonable in the NFL thread and resort to full blown football tribalism once the discussion is about Liverpool is truly amazing

Honestly, you can probably even hardly believe yourself what you're writing here.

If you could take the red hat off for one second you would see the much bigger picture is that your football club in doing this have called into question the validity of LFTs and it reaks of garbage. The idea that somehow you got THIRTEEN false positives is so unlikely and farfetched that the sane Liverpool fans I know even acknowledge that something probably went on behind closed doors.

Considering Klopp has never prioritized the cups, it would be astonishing if we risked the fallout of faking medical reports because of a Carabao cup game. Only to have it re-scheduled so that we are away in the return game and still without three important players.

So why aren't the EFL investigating further? Or are they in on this as well?

No, they probably realise it's one of those things that can never be disproved with the tools available to them. They're hardly going to go all CSI and start DNA testing these LFTs are they.

Were you this outraged when it happened at United over the summer?
Manchester United's players have been cleared to return to first team training after their Covid scare on Thursday.
Nine players and staff had returned positive lateral flow tests which prompted club doctors to send everyone home to self isolate and forced the cancellation of United's friendly with Preston North End on Saturday.
However, the more conclusive PCR tests returned on Friday morning have confirmed all nine were 'false positives' and United staff will revert to their training schedule ahead of their friendly with Everton on Saturday, August 7.
Care to explain what you think happened then? Because it must either be (i) the EFL believes us on our word and doesn't care enough, or (ii) we as a club decided to fabricate false positive Covid-test documents, which I assume is something like a criminal offense in England.

Honestly I think you just hate Liverpool a lot. If this was any other club you wouldn't have an issue. It literally happened with United in the summer.

77 false positive tests during one week in the NFL
Seven false positive test at the Chiefs before SNF
4 false positive Covid cases at the Colts on one testing day
False positive Covid outbreak at the Giants facility

Basically you were just talking a lot of crap. Or, if you disagree, please point me towards some of your posts in the NFL thread where you were up in arms about how that couldn't be true at all.

So whilst Liverpool fans are here barking claiming it's happened to a few other sporting teams, here's a few studies and information on the chances of one LFT giving a false positive. Not thirteen out of forty or so people, but just one.

https://www.gavi.org/vaccineswork/how-likely-positive-lateral-flow-test-covid-19-be-wrong 0.5% chance of a test being a false positive.

https://www.bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n1411/rr much lower this time I'm afraid. 0.03% chance of a test being a false positive.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7850182/ 0.5% chance again.

But you're ignoring the other false positive cases @RobinLFC posted. United had some false positives in the summer. There's evidence to show that it can happen, unless all those teams were also lying across multiple sports.

Do you suspect foul play among other Premier League clubs who've had games postponed over Christmas/December?

It seems they all went ahead and played their game after quickly clearing up that these so called false positives were in fact false positives. Only one team didn't of course. The team who had both their captain and their manager complaining about how tired they were prior to the incident.

Prior to the incident Klopp was isolating with Covid. You're just making stuff up now.

Is it so hard to believe that a club capable of furloughing its non-playing staff during the suspended season (after making a profit of £50 million the season prior, I might add) would stoop to lying to gain a fitness advantage of the competition?

Yes. FSG tried to furlough staff, not Klopp and the staff/players. We also played two games against Spurs and Chelsea away with several players missing.

A wrong judgment call made by our owners which was quickly reversed after literally everyone involved with the club condemned the move. I know, I know, you just want to bring some more scandalous stuff about Liverpool up to have a laugh, but the two situations aren't even remotely comparable.

What you actually meant to say was following mounting pressure from the media, fans and other associates of the game, the Liverpool board quickly reversed the scandalous decision to furlough its staff, lest they became even more universally despised than they already were.

And don't get me started on Klopp. This is a guy who has openly blamed his side's losses on the wind, the snow, TV commentators, referees and, erm, 'cold feet' before now. He Kicks water bottles, threatens children, eats dogs, etc. The worst type of person imaginable. Would he lie to gain an advantage? You're damn right he would.

You're living in denial.

Liverpool tried to cheat, got caught, now they've got their best PR guys on the case to fix the issue. Everyone knows this.

Makes you wonder why the EFL did nothing if Liverpool got caught. You think they might be in on this as well? How deep does this thing go?

A lack of evidence would be my first guess, but who knows?

Pointless anyway, you're just gonna deny until you're blue in the face and I can't prove it one way or t'other. So, a stalemate then.

But we all know the truth deep down, don't we :smirk:

I'll tell myself I won this one RT. Let me have this for all the times I've been wrong about Liverpool in my life. Le Tallec & Pongolle had so much hype around them. What was I supposed to think?!

Toothless performance tonight. Goes to show how dependant we are on Salah and Mane.

Pretty concerning seeing how lifeless we are without Salah and Mane. Jota is a good player but needs good players around him. Firmino is a but of a nothing player now and Minamino clearly isn't up to standards.

It's a bit concerning looking at the average age of the squad and how little we've done in the transfer windows recently. Give it a couple of years and a lot of those players will be at an age where they can't do it any more. the fact that we're relying on 36 year old James Milner in crucial games like tonight and Chelsea speaks volumes.

A bit of a over reaction. This time next week you could be in the final of the cup and the lead at the top of the premier league could be cut.

There's a lack of investment from the owners. The options from bench, even when Salah and Mane are available, are average.

We went into last season with a CB short and it spectacularly backfired.
We went into this season with a midfielder and forward short, and it is showing.

A world class manager is told to adjust with Origis and Ox, or rely on talented youngsters - but youngsters- like Elliott and Jones.

This summer FSG and their supporters convinced us that extending contracts is better than signing players, as if they couldn't extend those contracts during the season.

And now, they aren't extending the the contract of the most important player, simply because they know Madrid and Barcelona can't afford him and so they are waiting for Salah to reduce his demands - which if you ask anyone he absolutely deserves the big wages.

Sorry, rant over.
