Liverpool Football Club (nicknamed The Reds) are an English professional football club based in Liverpool, England. Liverpool were originally founded in 1892 as "Everton F.C. and Athletic Grounds Ltd" (Everton Athletic for short), before finalizing on the name Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Ltd. after a dispute between the Everton FC board and John Houlding, the owner of Everton's former premise at Anfield Road.

Liverpool's forays into competitive football started when they joined the Lancashire League. After winning the league title in their first season, Liverpool were accepted into the Football League for the 1893-94 season, following the resignations of Accrington and Bootle. Liverpool reached its first FA Cup Final in 1914, losing 1–0 to Burnley. It won consecutive League championships in 1922 and 1923, but did not win another trophy until the 1946–47 season, when the club won the First Division for a fifth time under the control of ex-West Ham Utd centre half George Kay.

One of the most successful and storied clubs in the history of European football, Liverpool have won 19 English league titles, 6 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, and 8 League Cups, peaking in the 1970s and 1980s, first under the enigmatic Bill Shankly, and then his Boot Room successors. Liverpool have two fierce historic rivals: crosstown club Everton FC (matches between them are termed The Merseyside Derby), and Manchester United (stemming from the success of both teams as well as the cities' competition in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century).

Lineup will probably be something along the lines of (with Martial's injury)

    De Gea

    Wan Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Rashford Fernandes Pogba
    Cavani
Chance someone else starts instead of Cavani but I expect the other 10 to play.

First thought when I saw Martial get injured tonight was at least Rashford wouldn't be played from the right again but he will won't he? Because Pogba will be played from the left with McTominay and Fred in midfield.

Frustrating because if we're not playing Rashford from the left then we may as we leave him on the bench as It's destroying him playing him on the right

It’s been a very, very long time since I’ve felt this nervous and excited for a game.

Despite a tough game tonight, I don't think anyone of this lot will be tired on Sunday. We can select any of them (maybe not Matic or Martial if injured).
Really important to start the game well, play with confidence abd put pressure on their makeshift defence.

There's no joke about this, imo our biggest match since SAF retired. Top of the league fight here.

It's a must win for Liverpool but not for us. Avoid a loss at all cost. A draw will be a great result. Of course a win and breaking their record going 6 points ahead will an un-fecking-believable result, but avoiding a loss is the most important thing here. Don't bring them back up top.

Martial needs to get dropped and Pogba in the front 3.

McFred in the middle of the park.

    Bailly in defense.

I'll be confident we don't get beaten

That’s what I think the team will be, not a huge fan of it as I don’t think Rashford or Pogba will offer much support to AWB and Shaw to double up on Mane and Salah.
But then after the 45 minutes vs RB Leipzig, I don’t think he will be in a hurry to play a back 3 any time soon.

The 3 point cushion is exactly what we needed to take some pressure off.

We can lose now and still be level on points (game in hand). The players won't feel so much weight on their shoulders going into the game.

Liverpool in the last few years have probably had better big game experience....but we have momentum on our side.

    Lets do this boys

I’m delighted that we got plenty of practice at Burnley tonight against long-ball hoofers in preparation for the long-ball hoofers we’ll encounter at Anfield on Sunday.

Burnley almost dive as much as Liverpool too so, all in all, we had the perfect rehearsal tonight.

Definitely the team I'd go for.

I have a feeling Dan James may start ahead of Cavani though to catch them on the break.

We need to be wary of Klopp's mind games pre-match. It was clear from today's decisions that his moans are clearly having an influence on proceedings.

Think that would have been the starting lineup even without Martials injury

Hope they play Thiago as he’s been a total liability defensively for them since the injury. Their chaotic hoof ball becomes less effective as he’s not suited for that.

The McFred combo certainly need to come in for this one.
    Both will be perfectly rested.

Aside from those two you'd have to say at least 8 who started tonight will play, with the only doubt whether Martial is injured meaning Greenwood might step in.

Could go with the 4 centre mids and Cavani and Rashy up front. Or could just play Pogba on the wide left and keep mosty of the rest the same.

A draw would not be the worst result in the world, and they definitely would treat it as almost as bad as a loss.
