If he's playing for Leicester I can't see how the deal gets done now. There maybe a verbal agreement made for him to sign next summer maybe, but in terms of contracts exchanged and stuff it's surely impossible to do the deal tonight by 11pm.

Pretty stupid for it to be left to the last minute, maybe it still happens but looks very unlikely now.
Utd clearly left it until late on in order to try and drive down price knowing Leicesters financial issues. Seems as though Leicester are not prepared to be bullied and given Page is getting a lot of plaudits if he continues to improve there will be far more interest in January and it will only drive up his price.
Spent three weeks fecking about negotiating for an eighteen year old in League One (while neglecting other positions) and couldn’t even get that done. I am out of words for this recruitment team.

This is crazy honestly. I don't know anything about the kid but if you really rate him so highly then why penny pinch over 1-2 million in the current market.
I'm watching him against Plymouth and it's clear he's a very good player. Impressed at him receiving and turning into space and good pace bringing ball forward, real top level quality. Some other club will end up buying him, once you mess around like this you'd be loathed to join a club that has shown it's not serious enough to conclude what should be a fairly straightforward deal.

What is quoted by Leics still seems reasonable and not a big risk if we needed to move him on. Like someone else said, breaking off negotiations on deadline day when some initial talks had been done... Leics are likely to view us as time wasters if we ever approach them again.
I wasn't all in on this signing. Would have much preferred a LB considering the gapping hole in our squad. But the fact it became public domain we were in talks and favourites you had to feel we would get him.
It makes the window now even worse somehow - that we've no idea what we are doing again.
