Just grabbing some of the first results on Google and then twitter, there's a ton more out there. It was definitely a thing.... I had many an argument after calling people out for using it. He was often accused of being slow, ponderous and only ever passing sideways or making "safe" passes, hence the "crab". I can't be bothered getting more, I feel I've made my point.

Carrick has nowhere near enough energy or flair. He strolls about and seems to need a lot of time to pick a decent pass. I'm surprised his nickname isn't The Crab with his liking for sideways passes
