Name: Luka Vušković
Date of birth: 24 Feb, 2007 (Age 16)
Place of birth : Split, Croatia
Height: 193cm
Position: CB (DM)
Preferred foot: Right
Current club: HNK Hajduk

One of the biggest talents in his age group in Europe and one of the most sought-after young CBs around. City have apparently, according to David Ornstein today, bid €10m + €2m for him. Hajduk have not yet accepted or refused. Vušković is a client of one of the "super agents" Pini Zahavi. Real Madrid & AC Milan have been reported as being interested in the player but basically all top clubs in Europe are naturally aware of his potential and would probably love to win the race.

Plays mainly for Hajduk's U19 team but made his first team debut two days after his 16th birthday in February, and has played full 90 minutes in all of the first team's last four (top tier) league matches. They're second in the league behind Dinamo. Scored his first senior goal in the Croatian cup quarter-finals a couple of weeks ago.

Vušković was integral in Hajduk's UEFA Youth League campaign earlier this season. They beat Man City in the round of 16 and Dortmund in the quarter-finals. So for the first time in the club's history they've made it into UYL semi-finals along with the other first-timers AZ (who beat Barca 3-0 in the RO16 and Real 4-0 in the QF), Sporting CP and AC Milan. He missed those last two UYL matches though; first one because of a suspension and the second one because the first team needed him.

Luka's also played higher up the pitch as a DM/CM but I definitely see his future as a centre-half. Croatia has been doing incredibly well as football nation with a population less than 4m and this is unlikely going to stop any time soon. They have so many top talents coming through and Vušković is probably one of the if not the biggest prospect.

Here's an interesting info package with more in-depth stuff on him by a football scout.

ps. His brother Mario plays for HSV in Germany. Five years older and 4cm shorter than Luka.

Obligatory YouTube highlight reel:

Him going to City would be a huge mistake his career wise. They would probably send him on loan somewhere and who knows how many clubs he'd change and if he would ever end up in City.

There's a another great talent from Hajduk who City bought, Ante Palaversa, who's now playing for Troyes. Yes, he's still 22 but we have to see how will his career end up in the long run.

Probably a good idea for him going to Spurs, Sanchez is a clown and Dier average, both on the way out of the club. Leaves what? Romero and the other young CB they signed as his only competition for first team football.

Seems a sensible move from the players perspective, if he moves to city would he ever get a first team game? Eriksen did this exact move as I recall, City were in for him but he decided not to sit on the bench behind Silva. Took Spurs' offer, walked into the Spurs starting 11.

Pretty sure Sanchez has already left. Meanwhile we're looking for our next 80m/250k CB.

Isn't the window closed for both England and Croatia ? Or that's just a pre-agreement for January ?

Not sure they can register him before he turns 18 (brexit), unless they use one of the four spots they can for players failing to meet the work permit criteria. So he'll probably join at a later date and possibly gets loaned out for a year or two. Clubs can sign players all they want after the window closes but they can't register them until January.

It seems both Newcastle and Spurs are attempting to pick up some of the higher profile youngsters around Europe and the UK.
This is definitely a major pick up for them if it’s true as this guy looks very mature for his age. I’ve only seen him in highlights really but physically he looks ready. The next 2 years will be important for him as he is already playing mens football but definitely a prospect.
