Was playing really well till the injury. Was probably our best player with Pogba until then and looking quite good in the final 3rd. Worrying that this is now the 2nd hamstring injury he’s had if you include the one in pre season.

He's really average to be totally honest. Average in every aspect. Not bad per the slightest, but not world class at all as well. For the moment he's a good stop gap and our best option but we'll need to upgrade over him next summer with a better fullback.

Honestly he’s just been a let down constantly the whole time he’s been here.

Would be nice to see Brandon Williams get a chance if Shaw is out though off course it will be Young instead

Hope people see how bang average he is. And injury prone. Every game he needs treatment in some capacity, today he was off.

We need a new Lb next summer

100% agree and I've said it for a while. Seems a good lad, but very average player. Neither exceptional defensively nor does he offer anything goin forward

In all seriousness we should look at promoting Brandon Williams to the first team, Shaw needs motivation hence the reason for the build he currently has.

Like I said previously, we should have just gone for Tierney at £25m.

This guy is just another Jones. He’d have a run of games where he’s decent, then some poor games and then injured. He can’t be relied upon.

We can’t even see Gomes playing I doubt he would even get a chance. But don’t worry he will be mentioned by OGS. We are likely to see Rojo there if Young cost us the next 5 games.

The irony in this post is Tierney is already currently injured and injury prone himself.

So Shaw has a treatment room buddy?

Yes. However our midfield (Lingard, Mata, McT) and right wing (James, Mata, Lingard) are below average. As long as those positions arent improved upon im fine with Shaw for now.

Best scenario would be a City/Guardiola style clear out and replacement of all average and below average players but that isnt going to happen.

He is the easiest of our defenders to dribble past. Poor positioning, poor in attacks, poor crosses, poor aerially, poor in one vs one defending, Zaha could barely get past Bissaka and I feared he might switch to the left just like Wolves targeted him with Adams Traore. Coaches will always try to plan their attacks down our left for obvious reasons.

With his not so good abilities, being injury prone makes it all worse. We wouldn't be much worse playing Dalot in LB although he isn't equally the best defensively, he at least offers one or two good crosses per game and a potentially better link up play with the attacker on the left, Shaw wouldn't be missed much.

He played 40 - 90 min games last season and voted player of the year by the team. He’s shit and injury prone :houllier:

Him and Lingard, like Jones, Smalling, Rojo and Dalot are on way too much for their abilities.

We'll struggle to shift them, and they'll continue to hold the team back.

Eventually the entire fan base will wake up to how poor this guy is.

Again I don’t see how he is getting hate here. He got injured, so do a lot of players but he was probably the best player on the pitch yesterday until he got injured and was involved in pretty much everything good we did.

How?

Wow won't though.

Breaks into a sprint and gets injured straight away. He's a good player, but he's one of many that can and should be upgraded.

Drop him and put Dalot at LB. Shaw is causing an issue for our CB's. Lindelof's header was pathetic but the gap between him and Maguire is not right. Maguire is always concerned about Shaw and is already ready to cover for him. Drop Shaw.Get Dalot at LB and hopefully we don't see that gap between the two. Shaw isn't good enough.

More like poor defending from Maguire, but he'd probably end up hugging the touchline everygame while trying to cover for Dalot.

Can't just excuse Lindelof's weak attempt to win that header. Shaw might be injured. So we need options. Young, Dalot Maybe Darmian. Exciting.

Shaw isn't good enough, 7/10 player at his very best. We shouldn't be content with that. However, if you think Maguire has problems covering him, wait and see Harry's performances now he's got Young or Dalot alongside him.

Yeah I still maintain my opinion from a while ago that he's a completely mid table level left back. And not the mid table of Everton/Leicester/Wolves, as theirs are all easily ahead of him. He's more of the same alongside Vam Aanholt, Bertrand, etc. Standard run of the mill player of which there are loads of them.

He's not gonna cut it in all honesty.
He just can't stay fit and I'm not sure why. Could be due to lack of professionalism or his body could just be made of glass like most of the defenders we've signed in the last few years.

I am starting to lose faith in him. If he keeps on getting injured every month then how can he be trusted to make the LB position his own. We have many injured players already in our squad, we cannot add up that number.
