Reminds me of when he missed against those cnuts back in 2020, we also conceded 2 goals because of his backup.

He's badly needed now, at two positions actually.

I cried a little inside when I watched Malacia's first touch routinely go about 5 yards either away from him or up in the air.

Probably gonna be needed more at CB, given Martinez is looking to be out the longest and with the possibility of having varane, Martinez and Maguire missing the fa cup game next week.

Wouldn't risk him for Forest. Make sure he's fit for Sevilla and especially Brighton where we won't have Maguire. Will be LCB til the end of the season which he is actually quite good at, so it's not the end of the world, but he really needs to come back asap.

I like Malacia and don't see a problem with him remaining Shaw's back-up going forward. But he's in poor form currently, and it's badly timed.

We need him back and to stay fit for the rest of the season after Thursday night. We can probably get away with one of Maguire or Lindelof playing alongside him, but I'd be nervous about them having to play together in these big games coming up.

Why won’t we have Maguire for Brighton? Is he suspended?

Yep. So Maguire and Lindelof this weekend, Lindelof with Shaw for Brighton and Maguire with Shaw for the other games then probably.
So long as Luke is there we should be ok I feel. The only issue is, when he has played there before it has only been next to Varane who is a far better organiser of the backline than Maguire or Lindelof.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

Yep, that's definitely my worry. I have a vague feeling he may partner Lindelof better than Maguire in general play, but that would leave us quite weak in the air (especially considering De Gea behind them is terrible at helping out).

I'm also not sure how consistent Shaw will be in the centre; in a small sample size so far he's had some very good games but also one or two poor games there.

Any word if he is back for Thursday? Definitely need him for next Sunday at least.
Latest stuff saying he’ll be back for a Sevilla match. Garnacho tweeted he’s back wearing footie boots, so there’s some positives with regard to the current injury problems. We could also have Rashford back for the weeekend.

That would be much needed great news even if its as a sub and we can bring him on second half. We need him starting against Brighton next to Lindelof as we basically have nobody else.

Great news he's travelling for the Sevilla game. More so we need him available for the Brighton match. Him, lindelof, awb + Malacia/Dalot is not the disaster it could be (providing we leave Spain with no more injuries :nervous:)

Good point. If he's fit to start vs Brighton, I think he'll definitely start CB. Otherwise it's Casemiro in the back 4, which will take a lot away from midfield.

I think Shaw +Lindelof could be a good pair because of the way Brighton play.

Always plays like he's got a cigar in his mouth and is too good to actually make sprints or put an effort in.

All the technical ability in the world with little application.

He is okay for next season but he really loses his mind when we aren’t doing well. Lacks mental fortitude for the level we are trying to achieve.

Bizarre sub considering he's injured, wasn't great but probably stopped another certain goal near the end.

I really don't think he's one to have a pop at overall, it's hard to say what his fitness is coming on in a situation like that. If he'd been shit all season it would be more of the same, but generally he has been good so I'd give it the benefit of the doubt.

It doesn't really matter all that much but what a bizarre performance from him.

Not up for running, playing like a quarter back, losing balls everywhere, injured himself practically standing still.

Hopefully we see better on the weekend especially at CB. He looked to pick up a knock which sucked.

Reckon if we werent so shit first half, plan was to bring him on with about 15-20 minutes left (or not at all)

Moaned about a soft foul not being given before the corner for the first goal and didn't look fit. Hope it was just a slight knock and he's not picked up another injury.

Looks uncomfortable and rusty. ETH making the sub is understandable trying to turn over the 0-1 deficit, but Shaw being like this and an rusty Rashford on the left wing turned out to backfire. Not good defensively nor any help attacking wise.

Let's hope it's not another typical new contract and getting back to form period from Shaw. There is no 2 months to play into form.

Given how shit we were first half I completely understood why Eth did it. I think Eth should have gone full on and brought on Fred too to add some energy there too.

Funny how it wasn't panic station today on set pieces with a defender way shorter than Maguire.
