Absolutely pathetic that he'd just basically refuse to overlap Dorgu and leave it all to him all game and then when he did get into a decent crossing opportunity it would be disappointing.

Will be a good day when him and Dalot aren't are starting full back options.
We had a similar line of thinking but for Fred and McTominay. Look how that turned out to be. This club can’t be trusted.

Crazy that I thought he had a good game. He's like the ying to Dorgu's yang. One moves like a train with little passing ability, the other is complimenting as good passer and positioning.

So Let's just wind up the Club shall we because things can always get worse so why even bother to make it better .

Thought he did pretty well today actually. But there's definitely a sense of he doesn't go 100% anymore, kinda pulls out of some tackles or refuses to fully sprint to avoid injury. I have sympathy for him with that as I'm doing the exact same thing these days too when I play. Injuries really break you down mentally and physically.

One thing he needs to stop with is those half-*rsed crosses from deep right in to the defenders head.

He always seem to do it when he's been on the ball for a few seconds, and seems like a lazy effort to contribute offensively cause he for sure isn't going to run at the defence or play the ball and make an overlapping run.

I'm so tired of him and Dalot. He's better than Dalot but they've still been our full back options for years now and are just not the answer.

Dorgu over him all day for me, especially in games where we need to break teams down. Shaw's experience might help at times in other games but he should not be starting week in week out.

When asked if Shaw was an option at wing back, Amorim had said that he was not training there and while he could do it, they had to be careful with his body.

First match with Fletcher in charge, Shaw at left back in a back four, this came to mind.

Today, he was out of the squad. Do we know if he’s injured?

No injury.

Either fatty is being rested because 4 games per month is too much for him or he finally has been told he is leaving (hopefully).

Just rested as the Christmas period was very busy and he played every game.

He's fine for LB IMO. Wing back is a lot more demanding.

He played 6 games in 3 weeks. Naturally he needs rest as did Casemiro.

He's had lots of injury issues, no need for that post.

Man Utd 2:0 Man City
Did well and generally think he has been one of our better and most reliable players all season.

He is a very good player. just been here too long during a bad period, like Maguire, like Bruno so when it going badly fans want those guys out first.

Spot on. Shaw for the England squad, together with Maguire and Mainoo.

Very good today, getting up and down the wing more than I've seen for a while. Some good interceptions too. He's such quality when he's fit and on form.

Classic 7/10 Shaw. So much experience on top level. Him-Martinez-Maguire (hopefull Maz) as a traditional back 4 can definitely be a good base to lead us into champions league.

Safe to say that he and Dorgu made that left side theirs. Just love the combo.

With Dorgu’s none stop running power Shaw will hopefully be able to carry on playing left back without injury. I’d like to see a few more over lapping runs but he has the passing range to set Dorgu off on his runs consistently which is good enough for now.

I love how quiet this thread is when Shaw puts in good performances. Which has been the case for most of the season.

"Mourinho was right."

Solid shift and kept the back door shut, which is exactly what we needed from Luke today.

One game a week suits him. Hopefully we get Europe next season, and we need a LB. A good time to bring one in, as Shaw doesn’t have long left.

Dorgu putting in a monstrous shift on the left is going under the radar here, he helped Shaw out a lot.

Shaw was good today, but he wasn't expected to get up and down the wing, our setup was all about mitigating or midfield and fullback weaknesses.

The real test will be against teams that require him to join the attack consistently, while getting back to defend as well.

And in those we may opt for Dorgu at LB with Cunha LW. Nice to have options again.

Dorgu isn't a LB, while he can play there in a crisis he isn't comfortable there and his positioning shows it.

It'll do for now, but we need to be looking at better fullbacks as well as midfielders in the summer

His positioning as a LWB might not have been great but I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him playing as a LB to say he can’t do it full stop.

Most thought he couldn’t attack to save his life, he’s doing pretty good at that now.

I'm not saying he can't do it full stop, but he's far from natural there, whereas he's been a winger for most of his career with a spell at wing back under Amorim.

Anyway we're off topic here, this is the thread about Shaw, who did well today.

He did, and as a pair, they are a very good combination.

Totally agree. He is class and makes some of the difficult things look easy.

Loved that tackle he got booked for tbh, we need a bit of that sometimes

Agreed, put fear into the opposition when they get the ball.

Sick to death of watching opposing players having a nice time at old trafford and enjoying the experience. Today felt different, physically our players fronted up and City wilted.

This is probably his last season here and gotta admit that he's been mint
His contract is till 2027, right? I can see him staying until then, which is fine by me. People give him sh*t for injuries which aren't his fault. Since Jose left, whenever he's been for he's been one of our better performers. Yes he does have bad games but generally when fit, he's usually solid and technically brilliant.

Will make no sense to extend his contract as he'll be 32 when it expires, but no issues keeping him until then. As you say, this year he's been mostly very good.

Why wouldn't it make sense? He can play CB and FB without needing to use his pace all that much, we ought to take the decision when the time comes based on what we're seeing from him but it doesn't seem unreasonable that we might want to extend his deal if he's still playing well.
