If he stays this summer, I'd rather he not make the England squad. With his injury record and age, he needs as much rest as possible going into next season.

He'd probably be a back up LB anyway so if England does well in the group stages, he'd only play the last game for instance. I'd be worried if he was a starter.
Great season so far

If he makes the England squad it will be because his form has been really good with us so I really hope he makes it.
Pretty obvious really

I think Hall will get the nod but I think the starting LB spot is up for grabs.

Tough day for him today. Was tasked with essentially being a wingback, getting up and down.

Caught out a few times, but did well, regardless.

Foraged more forward than I had expected today. Had an overall decent game and was probably tough without an orthodox left sided player in front of him.

Thought he was poor really, was expected to play expansively like the Luke Shaw of old but was often late to join the attack and didn't do much defensively either.

Not entirely his fault, he doesn't have the legs to be the full back we need anymore.

I’m probably the biggest Luke Shaw fan on here, but I’d say he’s clearly lost a step. I know how good he was, and he’s not THAT good anymore to me. He’s been solid I’d say.

I'd agree with that. I'm even surprised he's playing like this tbh

All about opinions, of course, but I'm surprised by the negative comments on here. Whilst Shaw has clearly lost a bit of his power and pace, he was still very solid and assured for me.

Didn't think he was great to be honest. No intensity in his game at all and felt like he just jogged around. Giving so many cheap frees away by lazily tugging peoples shirts or trips every game too
He was playing somewhat like he did mostly under Amorim. Perhaps restricted because Cunha doesn’t stay on the left - but thought he played as if he needed to conserve energy.

That and trying to avoid injury by overdoing it. To be fair to him he's been fit all season but still feels like he plays with the handbrake on a lot. He wasn't terrible, I just didn't think there was enough intensity

Which is of course understandable from his perspective. But we do need more dynamism from that position.

Slows down and turns back with the ball way too much for my liking, left a bit isolated with Cunha drifting about the place. But the lack of urgency and intensity to his game, while expected, is still maddening.

Man Utd 2:0 Tottenham
Just the kind of full back you want vs 10 men. He made plenty of overlapping runs, and the weight of his passes were sublime.

12 years at the club and contract until 2027. Could be 15 years at the club potentially. Wouldn't mind if he can stay fit because he's good player.

Is there a greater stat in football than Luke shaw starting every premier league game this season?

I've often been critical of him, although I will say that he's been mostly good this season. Today he was really "on it" - played well, real intent in his game, attacked the spaces, looked physically very up for it. I will say that he looks to have lost some pace though.

More than solid but short of outstanding today. The man shuts the door and leaves it locked behind him. Would love to have the shot beat Vicario, who was outstanding for Spurs.

Thought he played well today, showing he has no problems playing as a fullback. Some were writing off his ability to ever play there again not long ago.

Another symptom of Amorim's gaslighting. Shaw played CB for 14 months, therefore people assumed he no longer had the stamina to get up and down the pitch, because why else would he be stood on the centre circle with his hands on his hips when we need to break down 10 man Everton?!

Couldn’t have asked for an easier game defensively but did well though.

Along with two other centrebacks. Peak Amorim ball that.

I do agree that he's lost a yard but he still looks very steady and seems to be benefitting from the lack of midweek games this season. This is his longest run of consecutive Premier League starts including his time at Southampton, which is nice to see.

Was reduced to having to watch Goldbrige in the second half today. He really dislikes Shaw, and doesn't want to give him any credit for what has been a solid season from him. Type of toxicity that gets across to the fanbase.

Shaw has been good this season, he doesn't quite have the burst of a few years back, but his technical ability is still elite and he has been very solid defensively.

Doing well, credit to him for maintaining a decent consistent bottom level and of course for his durability. I still expect more from him but let's take it one game at a time. Cunha is not the most orthodox left channel attacker so it's not exactly the easiest to play behind him.

This guy has played 2,183 / 2,250 minutes in the league this season. Super reliable.

Such a technically good and clever footballer. I agree with others that he's lost a yard of pace since 1-2 seasons ago.

I'd have love to have seen how good he would have become if he didn't sustain that injury v PSV, he used to fly down that wing before that and looked very sharp. He obviously did well to bounce back from that, and has often had periods where he's looked a top class full-back still with pace but never really that elite speed that he looked like he once had.

Thought he was our weakest link today, nothing terrible but was a bit sloppy considering how little our defence had to do. The no look pass to a Spurs player on the edge of our box was particularly frustrating, that's the kind of carelessness that's been costing us all season.

Luke Shaw is, and has always been, a very good football player. We need to be looking for a new LB sooner rather than later though. Hes definitely lost a half yard or so and games will be thick and fast back in Europe next season.

He is just solid. I don't expect anything to happen when he has the ball, but he keeps it well and always finds an easy solution, but should really be more of a threat offensively
