He's a ok cb and that's it now. Offers little as a fullback. I mean, he's scared to cross over the fecking half way line nowadays because he'll get done on the counter.

I'm at risk of repeating myself here, but his legs are shot and he's one of our weakest links at full back. Replacing him needs to be an extremely high priority in the summer, to the point that it's arguably as important as a second CM signing (which is incredibly important too, that's how much Shaw is dragging us down).

Watching him and Ugarte dawdle on the ball is infuriating, particularly with Luke because he can actually do stuff with the ball if he can be bothered to move.

Slow and predicatable. Needs to be got rid of but he somehow keeps finding ways to stay at this club.

He should be a backup, he’s a shadow of the player he was at his peak but we have to rely on him every minute of every game. I think he’s doing what he can with what he still has in the tank but it’s not enough.

Even if I look at someone like Truffert, he's simply better because he has better engine. Shaw never gets to top gear. he's too afraid to get injured and these players should be backups at the very least. maybe CB backup could be good for hi but not a up and down runner on that side. MMaking 20 runs er game should be normal, he doesnt do that.
y favourite atm would be Lewis Hall, but maybe giving a chance to Dorgu should be also nice along with Ams, but both at question how tey come back from injuries

His crossing is hilarious because he has such a big back swing that it's easy for players to block every cross

Reminds me of a veterans football player these days, unfortunately. Was great in his day but we need a lot more.

The speed of execution has deserted him. It takes him 2 hours to get his cross off these days which is why they're always blocked.

People are digging him.out... I didn't think he was too bad.. we missed Maguire, Yoro is always a concern and Licha' was a little harshly treated by officials. It was his first game back too in a while..Shaw has been excellent and brings important experience.

Cunha offered him no help, no out ball... I cannot dig out Shaw today..

He's still at the club because he's on massive wages and the level of club he's good enough for now won't pay a fraction of the money he gets here.

Light and shadows yesterday. Defensively it was really bad. On the ball, he was one of the better players with some great wide passes. He is clearly not able to run up and down the line for 90 minutes. It is bit like with Eriksen after the Andy Carroll foul. He needs physical players around him for him to be functioning at this point in his career. We have seen it work. The combination of Shaw at LB and Dorgu at LW was cracking against City and Arsenal, and those are the hardest games in the PL. Cunha does not offer the same defensively as Dorgu, and that is a big problem for Shaw. He got overrun all the time resulting in dangerous crosses all the time. That is not happening with Dorgu in front of him. The dane binds the opposition backs with his pressing and running.

Good summary. Dorgu's drive is such an important factor for United. This lad needs to be back out there asap. Shaw will receive competition in the summer (hopefully), my choice would be Diouf of West Ham. The lad has a fantastic engine and is strong in the air, capable of offering much, much more going forward than Shaw.

Chelsea 0:1 Man Utd New
Such a good player. Excellent again today defensively and even getting forward more. So pleased that he’s managed to stay fit for nearly a full season at this stage of his career.

Not bad at all. For the first time this season he joined attacks a lot down the flank, was a revelation

When he shows up and decides today I'm playing excellently he's so hard to deal with. He completely had Neto in the palm of his hand, i was worried about the speed disparity especially on the break but Shaw just played a very mature game. Neto had no idea how to actually beat him despite being faster.

Finally decided to sprint and join the attack, which should be a basic requirement for any player in the FB position.
No wonder his legs were feeling it, when was the last time he showed any intensity in his game.
Probably a brilliant player for us but always chooses to just do enough, maybe if his fitness levels are higher his attacking contribution will be better.
Can’t praise a guy for choosing not to be passive for a day. He does the easiest thing for any defender which is to be a standing defender.

Shaw can still offer something productive here and would be great as a squad player.

He won't moan about game time and it's not like loads of teams will be knocking on his door.

As we build our first 11 we need to be mindful of our bench as well

I thought he was poor. Neto and co constantly whipped in crosses from his side and they should've scored at least two goals from it. He also nearly gifted them a goal in the first half.

Man Utd 2:1 Brentford New
Defensively he was pretty solid aside from that early yellow card.

This is not really criticism as I just think it’s funny at this point but I actually looked up how many times he’s been booked and it’s 86 times. I guarantee at least 40 of them are for the same offence. He’s actually a very clean, capable tackler it’s just the pulling back of a player on the counter that he always seems to get booked for.

He's ok, but clearly well past his best now. He seems to play the whole game in 3rd gear, I assume injuries have just taken their toll on him.

A standard part of the game now. A lot of players have learned to do this in a less obvious way. Unfortunately Shaw hasn't mastered it.

Shocked he isn't injured, I thought he was done for the season?!

Man Utd 3:2 Liverpool New
When he's on it and bothered, there are few left backs better then him

Impressive performance, provided width on the overlap a fair bit as well, did well for the winning goal.

Thought he had another really good game today and made some vital interceptions and tackles in the period when we nearly fell to pieces. Will be amazing if he can start every league match this season.

He's never really relied on pace but he's still a very good player. His defensive ability especially is impressive, he's very good at interceptions in particular. He certainly has his place in the team for the next season.

He is decent but clearly past his best. I feel like at this point he cant really be used as a proper attacking LB, he is unable to get up and down the pitch and support in attack as much as we need him to. Solid defensively though.

Interesting to see what the plan with him, Dorgu and Cunha is. Perhaps Dorgu can play as a sort of quasi-LW/LB, and Cunha starting central but drifting to the left ahead of him.
