Mazraoui was brilliant coming on today. I think Shaw is massively hyped by some on this place. Was pretty good today, a bit wank against Fulham, but he was brilliant against Arsenal.

I like Maz, good player who can cover many positions. I think a fit Shaw is simply a better player overall.
A fit Shaw is an oxymoron. I think he has the potential to be better than many players. He’s physically gifted and has the greatest first touch this side of Berbatov.
However, his mentality is the issue for me. He switches off too often, starts too sprint too late and is generally too lackadaisical. That’s why I found him brilliant against Arsenal - never seen him so aggressive and on the front foot. If he can keep that up, he’s brilliant. Fast, strong, good passer, great technique and good at bringing the ball forward.
Thought he had a very good game
Can’t believe the positive comments here. He was a disaster today, generally sloppy and caught ball watching for the first Burnley goal.

Me neither, wondering whether I have an agenda as I quite like Shaw but don't think he was that good at all.
Suspect defensively and on the ball not that groundbreaking, composed on the ball sure and quite good in 1v1 duels but didnt get the praise at all.

Thought he was poor. Too passive. Just desperately unambitious player. Never puts himself out, passes the defending off to the wing back or the inside cb basically always. When they get dragged out like de ligt did today covering him he doesn't slot in and might as well have not bothered when he does (im not sure holding your hand up when you've lost your marker counts as bothering really). I dont think i've ever seen him covering for someone else and getting them out of trouble. Just a bit of a passenger most of the time.

We should play him at LWB, as he has strong crossing ability — a skill none of our current wing-backs possess. But of course, it depends on if he can run that much anymore.

You don't rate him and you judge all his performances from the prism of trying to confirm your opinion of how low you rate him. So you end up saying he's been poor even when he hasn't.
This is the thing. I think all our 3 starting CBs have been great so far this season - except once a game where it all falls apart and we concede a poor goal.

I dont. I think they're marking ghosts most matches. Its think its easy and safe, they're marking one player between them against a lot of teams - its not really demanding much of any of them. They dont press that high up the pitch or squeeze space all the time, its a bit hit and miss. They dont bring much to the attack and im not sure it helps when de ligt for instance does join the attack. I think in isolation most of them look pretty good and like they're doing their job but i just dont think they're doing enough. Similarly to playing out from the back, its easy and safe with the numbers back there it just takes a week to get to the half way line. Its functional.
I dont think it helps that we change the backline so often. Its probably shaw's 3rd match with de ligt and yoro.

Dalot put some great crosses in today but I'm sure those were flukes and normal service will resume. Thought he did well against Walker and beat his man a few times, got an assist too... He is thick though and a massive liability defensively.
They weren't flukes, he had someone in the box to aim a cross at, not something that was generally the case ;ast season
I love luke, think he is so so class. I love his possession and composure. We're such a better team with Luke in the side.

Think hes finished as a defender in bigger matches. Not just losing out to the attackers but looking lost positionally at times. We might get by playing him against the lowest teams in the premier league but other than that...

Once he made those comments about how high the standards are now and environment being better, you just knew things were fcked. It feels like this comes out and the season is over before it begins.

So if players are only given 2 years to prove themselves, why should this guy still be around? He's proven himself to be unreliable for years now.
