He'll go somewhere else and become the best LB in the game. In 5 years time he'll be an addition to the Salah, De Bruyne and Lakaku list... him and Martial!

Never happening if he doesn't work hard.

Perhaps a move to Master Chef? Seems more like his cup of tea.

He needs game time and a manager who will trust him to play.

He'll excell and come good, he's to talented to not.

Man Utd is a big club to come to and hit the ground running. In Luke's case 3 managers and bad injuries haven't worked in his favour.

An Everton, Newcastle, Spurs, Arsenal would be the main clubs I'd see wanting him. He'd do well for any club if he played

Anywhere where there is no chance of Mourinho being appointed manager.

These "false hope" players are the worst. We fans keep and keep hoping that the player might one day fulfill his potential - Now it's just been 4 years of empty farts.

It's actually better when they fail hard like Di Maria and you move on faster.

Looks like he is staying now

I really hope he does something to impress Mourinho in Pre-season. I can't take the idea of going into the new season with Ashley Young as first choice left back. Luke Shaw is our only hope. C'mon Luke!

Next move will be to train harder and learn how to defend, cross and occasionally score. His potential is great enough to become something close to complete full back but I'm still not that sure about his mentality post injury.

It's Jose's 3rd year so I assume he knows his team to a serious degree by now and make a right decision.

Step one, stop eating so much
Step two, train harder and defend better.
That might help him somewhat

I did read that he was living with his three best mates, not to sure if that's still the arrangement but that is a rotten idea for a professional athlete. You're career is short so you need total dedication through you're twenties. He is solid enough to do his job but could certainly benefit from being part of a consistent back four and a little bit of movement ahead of him in attack.

Agreed. I've got a lot of time for Young. When he was picked he mostly did ok, with a handful of strong performances. Scored some nice goals too and played his way into the England team on merit. But he's not the long term answer. Luke Shaw still could be. It's a slim chance, but he's still young. As you say, he needs to do something to impress the manager, and I hope he gets the chance to do that.

Last year, Young played the big games, and Shaw got a few dead rubbers and cup games. I'd rather this year be the other way around, at least give him a chance to prove himself. It's difficult for him to do that when he's not on the pitch. He did well in some games, then was immediately benched again. How is he supposed to build on that?

The reason for that could be because Young is getting Jose's instructions better than Shaw and Young is outperforming Shaw in training.
Unless we believe Jose has an agenda against Shaw.

This guy's turned more corners than a driving instructor. He's had very little genuine competition for that slot since he's been here but hasn't managed to nail down the position. No way it's happening now.

Exactly. Don't think anyone in the team has such less competition for a position.

The caf is awful for it too after seeing any glimmer of something.

Seeing the player in the Brighton game was a pretty saddening affair, when thinking how talented the player was when playing under Poch only 18 yrs of age. Difficult to assess how big an impact that horrific injury has had on him, but one thing is for sure he’s a shadow of the player he was.

He turns 23 in the summer, his days at Utd are obviously numbered so where will he go and what would be the best move for him?

Myself I would love it if Poch took him back and gave him an opportunity to rebuild his career with Spurs. Then hopefully he could get one back on Mourinho for the horrible way in which he’s been treated by him.

How he looked and performed in the Brighton game and events leading up to that, is what I built my comments on regarding the way Mourinho handled him. Couldn't understand why Mourinho would put him on the field, so unfit as he was. However since then we've seen more of him and he's put in some decent performances. Although still not at the level required imv and obviously he's been 2nd choice after Young. Quite rightly so! Looks like I could have overrated him, so no fault of Mourinho's as I believe he's been given a fair chance since my earlier comments.

Shaw is wanting to stay for one simple reason, this is the pinnacle for him in terms of club status and salary. He knows he lacks the commitment levels to make it at another major club (some of these may well be psychological and if so, it's a shame but it's his responsibility to resolve that). He doesnt want to take a massive paycut by agreeing to leave. He's happy to sit around doing nothing and playing 45mins here and there.

Probably from his bed to the fridge, then to the sofa. Repeat.

On a more serious note, he stays and fights for his place for one final season. Surely this really is make or break. I like the lad so I really hope he succeeds and fulfils his potential, but the odds against him are growing.
