The old guy with the gloves looks like a Sunday league manager who just had to stand in nets that he hadn't enough players.

They will all have clauses in. As clueless as the Glazers are when it comes to football, their money is important to them.
It's not their money really though is it - it's the clubs. The Glazers continual bleeding of monies from our club will not be in the slightest affect by a massive compensation payout. It does highlight the managements absolute inability to run the football side of their cash cow.

Correct however they draw blood out of a stone at any opportunity, if they can save a few million here and there it's more dividends for them to extract.

It's not gonna cost the Glazers anything.
Exactly.

I think it has been clear how does the club financially operates: we get the revenue whatever it is, we remove 20-25m from it to pay the interest in the debt, and we remove 20m for the dividends (80% of it goes to Glazers, the remaining to the other shareholders). The remaining money is used for the operating costs, salaries, stadium etc, and then the remaining is used for signings.

If we have to pay millions, it means that there are fewer millions for signings and other football matters. Because, the interesthas to be paid, the Glazers are gonna take their dividends anyway, and the operating costs and salaries need to be paid too.

It might be one our silliest financial mistakes but it's not gonna be anywhere near our more expensive ones.

Yup. The only thing that gets hit is the transfer budget. That is the most flexible budget of all.

If a manager has to work with £50 million instead of a £100 million because of all the extra costs, 'tough titties' say the Glazers.

You honestly think the 4 first team coaches make 50M a season together?

This was reported weeks ago, sounds like nothing was signed. Do we have any official announcement from United?
Honestly think they were waiting until results improved before announcing it

Ron Howard: They didn’t.

A few weeks ago, the posters who would argue against this were just called ''negatives''. There is a group of posters who justify each and every contract, be it Jones, be it Mata, Solsksjaer. The cost is literally so clear.

Unless the club actually wants to keep them, I havent completely given up on McKenna or Carrick. The main clueless one of our coaching is Solksjaer I think, based on how he speaks of the game. The videos out there where all he mentions is;

-bounce back
-go out and enjoy yourselves
-desiring the ball
-play on the front foot

Him being head responsible, makes me want to give them at least some slack. However there have been so many rumours regarding them, if indeed they arent fit for the job, just terrible management once again, wasting millions.

This may explain why the club were not interested in Conte or that he was deemed as not a 'Utd manager'.

No way does he take on this ragtag band as his support staff.

Yes, Harry Maguire for 80m springs to mind, as does Fred for 50, Donny for 35 (and not being used), AWB for mental money etc etc....:houllier:

It's not. The dividends has not changed at all, regardless of the revenue and net profits, since they started giving dividends.

If this was done it would have been reported on the MUFC website as all the appointments are and the only one I saw was Phelan.
We are a hotter topic than normal so hopefully we can filter out the shite from the truth moving forward.

What do you expect? Get Ten Hag and Marco Rose to coach the reserves because its such a wonderful proposition?
They are not coaching the reserves. They are first team coaches. Carrick and McKenna have been first team coaches for a while now.

Murtough also doesn't work for the academy. He is in charge of overseeing first team technical development

I read that the Ole contract for example if they had to terminate they wouldn't have to pay it all off but who knows... I don't think even the Glazers would be stupid enough to not put clauses in those renewals.
According to Norwegian media his severance is around £9m, which without checking is probably 1 year of wages.

United are a world class institution for on-the-job vocational training. We specialise in mediocrity.

How much are first-team coaches even paid? I don't know how accurate it is but Football Manager has them on around £10-15k a week. So maybe £500-750k a year. It's not a great thing to be losing £3m-£6m in compensation if they are let go but you get over £2m a game in prize money for winning a CL group stage game. It's not exactly a huge thing for Utd.

And all that assumes that they don't just slide down the depth chart behind the new manager and his assistant.

Yes, but if we want to get away from giving managers way too much time and be more ruthless we will also have to factor in compensation for various coaching staff. Chelsea paid €15m to get AVB from Porto in 2011 and sacked him after less than a year along with several of his staff.

If Poch or Ten Hag comes in and brings 1-2 coaches then we will need to plan for their sacking if they fail within 12-18 months.

I’ve got a gut feeling we’ll be keeping McKenna around. He’s not popular around here but he was the best youth manager we’ve had in years, his team played outstanding football and it was a bright spot for me as a supporter in a very bleak era, I still believe he’ll make a good manager one day.

Sure, I agree.

I just find pretty stupid how Phelan’s contract was extended, and Carrick/McKenna’s probably too, just a few weeks ago. When everybody knew how this is going to end.

That is close to taking some money out of the club, and burning them.

Which casts doubt on the whole new lineup in the board we were sold last year. either they have no self awareness or blatantly just want to keep the status quo of mates looking out for each other

Yeah, how the contract talks weren't put on hold for Phelan, Carrick and McKenna is insance. Ole himself should have just been given a 1 year extension with an option of another year.

You would hope the new guy gets a much shorter deal. If Poch came in now it should be 18 months with a 1-year extension option.

It'll still only cost a fraction of the wages Pogba is getting during his injury layoff in Dubai.

In the broader context of Manchester United's finances, the redundancy compensation for the backroom staff will be a drop in the ocean.

It's good that they have a longer contract just in case we have 5 good games in a row, you just know Woodward would otherwise offer Carrick a 5 year deal as permanent manager.

You can half understand why other clubs hate us, when no matter how crap we are, the press are way more interested in us than Chelsea/City/Liverpool despite them all having their best teams for ages.

British mates throughout the whole club in top positions. Keeping it in-house, the traditional “Man United Way”…was it Fergie employing these useless gimps or what.
