Thanks for your patience during the maintenance downtime earlier. Apologies that it took longer than expected but all went as planned in the end.

The main changes relate to upgrades to the core of XenForo itself. This required some reworking of the site theme/design/layout but everything should be the same as before. However, if you notice anything awry please let me know in this thread or PM me.

This upgrade lays the foundation for some other upcoming improvements but this update does include a couple of improvements which I know has been long requested:

1. Dark Theme!

To enable the Dark Theme, click on the theme button that says "RedCafe.net (Default Theme)" at the bottom of every page:

Then choose "RedCafe.net (Dark Theme)" et voila!

The layout of the dark theme is identical to the default theme, however, there may still be some discrepancies between the two which should be considered bugs. If you notice anything not quite right with the new dark theme, please let me know.

Also, if any of you are design minded I'm happy to hear any suggestions for improvements to the new theme. Colours and stuff ain't entirely my thing! :)

2. Twitter embed fixes

X.com URLs now work when embedding tweets and tweets should load less intrusively on pages. The latter was resulting in pages jumping around as tweets loaded higher up on the page.

We're also looking at adding support for various other media embedding. I'll post on that separately.

Nice, recently I have set all my apps and OS to dark mode. Only caf remains. Now I can fully embrace the darkness.

the little icons beside things aren't working in Firefox for me though!
 
The icons aren't visible for me on the dark theme, is it just me or for everyone. I'm on chrome mobile on android
 
Love the addition of the dark mode! But yeah, like others are saying, not all icons seem to be working correctly. The ones at the top next to Home, Foums, Match Day, etc, plus the ones in the text editor box (List, Quote, etc).

Tested on Chrome and Edge.

Missing padding to the left of the thread titles on mobile
 
Appreciate the work @Niall

Just tried it on mobile and all the icons aren’t loading. It also looks a bit messy in threads due to certain things.

Nice work guys. Even Southgate decided to resign during the RedCafe maintenance window to try to keep it quiet!
 
I think also it’s hard to tell the separation between posts when scrolling. It all just kind of blends into one for me (on mobile at least). Maybe the bit that shows when they posted/report/post number could be red?
 
the threads are aligned super left on the home screen for me. i have a very expensive iphone pro 15 max. it might not be the same for those who could only afford android, or lesser model iphones.

Red doesn't look great on the dark background, it "bleeds" too much. But some further contrast may help.

Keep sending the feedback for improvements to the dark theme, I'm keeping a list :)
 
For anyone missing the icons and who knows how developer tools in a browser work, can you take a look and see what the "Network" section says. Any errors or 404s?

It's working for me so hard to debug on my end.
 
Also messing all icons on the messages, are you missing the icon pack in the css?

same with dark mode for me. works fine in the default theme. i’ve even tried clearing my cache but no dice. luckily i have memorised a couple of important pornhub urls, otherwise it would have been a complete disaster.

Looks fine on iPhone 15 Pro Max 1TB. You must have the 512GB one?

Is it showing on yours, try clearing the cookies or incognito
 
Are tags supposed to not have a colour on Dark? If red is bad, maybe something else? @Niall

Likewise but nothing I can do about that, it's a change in XenForo itself.

how fecking dare you. mine is even bigger than the advertised 1tb as my dad is the other apple one that’s not steve jobs.
