Mamadou Sangaré | signs for Brentford

I did want him at one point but he looked better attacking than defensively.

A bit like Pogba.

Is that true or not? Baleba is also left footed but looks more of a defensive DM than Sangare who seems to be a more of a CM in my eyes.

Even if he succeeds at Brentford, it doesn’t necessarily mean we’re wrong not to go for him. The jump from Lens to Brentford isn’t the same as it is to United. Add to that, unless he’s dreadful, he’ll start there, week in, week out. He’ll get the game time to develop, he won’t need to hit the ground running in the same way.

I look at Garner doing well at Everton; he wouldn’t be that player at United because he wouldn’t have had all the game time he needed to develop with us that he got at Forest and Everton.

feck man. I bet we're going to want to sign him for 90m next summer. What a blunder.

I'd wish he signed for Chelsea. We would have probably gotten him 2 years later when they are bored of him and INEOS would want to prop Chelsea up

It’s mental how much people know for sure these guys are the real deal whilst always knowing the guys we sign won’t be as good.

Always something to moan about though.

If he or his agent had common sense they would put in a fair release clause should any top 4 or 5 club come in for him after two years. Else, like Baleba, these players would be deprived of career progress because clubs like Brentford or Brighton would want silly money for them.

Brentford aren't that bad to be honest. When you think of what they asked for Mbuemo, wasn't outlandish. Even Wissa under the circumstances.

People always do this when looking back at who we should have bought, Garner is a great example, if he’d stayed here he’d have played a bit part in various positions for a few years, and wouldn’t have had the game time to develop like he has. Even at Everton it took nearly 4 years before he made the sort of progress where people started saying we should be buying him.

People who rated a player mildly annoyed we didn't sign him. Soooo mental.

Good signing for Brentford. Shame that we don't gamble on this kind of signing.

If his agent is any good he’ll have a reasonable release clause so if he does come in and do well, a move to a bigger club is relatively achievable in a year or two.

We'll be interested in a couple of years for £80m+... Got to to stick to the "PL proven" bollocks.
Won't be a suprise if he's worth double that in a year or two.

All of these up in arms comments about United not signing a promising Ligue 1 CM before another PL club should rather be directed at 20 year-old Aladji Bamba who moved to Newcastle, not to 24 year-old Sangare going to Brentford.

PS also, another quick reminder that Andrey Santos had a better season in Ligue 1 than Sangare, when 3 years younger.... Andrey Santos was also more "Ligue 1 proven" than Sangare... but some redcafe posters just buying the hype it seems.

I see this sentiment often, but players like Lindelof, Mctominay, Fred have had game after game to hone their craft here.

Excited to see him. Could be a great move by Brentford.

Quite a big fee for Brentford. Interested to see how he does at Brentford. Probably a good level for him. Never bought into him being good enough for Utd personally

Just checked and that would be the largest fee Brentford have ever spent on a player surpassing Ouatara last season which was €43m.

Brentford paying that kind of money is in some ways more mental than the Rogers fee.

Not sure how saying "Won't be a suprise if he's worth double that in a year or two." = being up in arms that we haven't signed him? One doesn't mean the other.

Using it as a stick to beat the club with because they’ve not gone for the guy they want. Toys out pram.

Stop getting hysterical people are having a mild discussion. If you can't take mild criticism of the club a discussion forum is not your safe space.

Hysterical

The criticism of the club for not signing one player who’s moving to Brentford and hasn’t been linked to any other sides of note is the hysterical part. Too many followers of the Twitter fan pages who moan constantly about United.

There’s pretty legitimate reasons to be annoyed with United too. You’re calling me out for not being on a forum when you are replying to an opinion you don’t agree with? What fecking sense is that? Jesus.

Criticism of the club is okay, the world won't crumble, take some deep breaths before you faint from the extremes of mild criticism.

People are allowed to be disappointed about us not picking up players they rate, they might be right they might be wrong it's an opinion. If you happen to only ever rate the exact players we sign then great for you you'll never be disappointed.

I don’t mind people being disappointed. Plenty of reasonable takes in here. Too many using it as a reason to cry about the club being shite.

No need to be so condescending either. Not sure what that brings to the forum.

I don't see why the buying club should have to agree to that. They're taking a punt sure, but also showing belief in him by paying the price the bigger clubs seemingly don't want to.

They shouldn't be expected to bend over backwards when their boy lights it up and the big dogs come for him.
