Man United's record when winning at half time at Old Trafford - 362 Wins, 35 Draws, 0 Defeats

Folks, you can’t just sub Casemiro off at 2-0. That’s a massive blow to him, and would strain any relationship he and Amorim have.

If it were only 1-0 I'd be a bit worried, but the record should be safe
Amorim has to adjust to something that has happened in the match though.

Hopefully we can't let them score three but it would be fully in character for us, and of course it would be typical if it was Garnacho to score the winner.

The streak won’t last forever, so enjoy it and raise a glass to every match it lives on.

Especially with Amorim in charge. Even playing against 10 men around 40 minutes I was Iike we aren’t running away we this and they are going to make a game out of it.

This thread and our managers post LVG is the reason why scoring first in the first half gives me a sense of uneasiness. I forgotten about this since amorim because we never score much anyways. The bumber of this thread should be banned.

Would be amazed if this record survives Amorim, it was miraculous enough that Ten Hag didn't blow it.

We should've been three up by the time Casemiro got sent off, and at that point I think the second half would've looked different. All hypothetical, of course, but I don't think there is much to criticize Amorim for in that first half.

We actually have to be winning at HT for the result to effect this record. First half goals have been at a premium in recent years

Given the name of the thread it seems we're only counting since the introduction of PL, and the record's been going on since May 1984 so 8 years before PL started.

Wondering which match was the closest to us losing this record?

I was at the Everton game a few years ago, and we led 1-0 at half time through a Martial goal.

Everton equalised in the 2nd half, and then a very late, really, really tight VAR offside decision saved us!

It's that match you mentioned for sure. I remember being more gutted about losing the record than the match.

A match where Amrabat single handedly stopped a certain goal, not sure which match.

If Davies shot himself instead of passing then yeah it was done

Why cant we keep leading at half time then if thay spend 70% ebergy in first half itd be well worth it becauae weve won basically at half time dont worry about stanima management, press them like rabid dogs in 1st half and park bus in the 2nd

Very brave to move away from the recent tactic of preserving this record by never having the lead at half time. Not sure yet however if wise.

I was certain it would be gone last season as we were 1-0 up at HT against Arsenal. But then players went out for 2nd half and were brilliant. Race equalised but thankfully we didn't concede 2nd goal.

This is the number up to March 2025, you'll have to do the math for the latest number.
The stat is true for all competitions, not just the PL too. I researched it and a guy from The Athletic confirmed it.

It’s impressive because I’ve heard it said for at least 10 years and we’ve not been that good for the past 10 years so to maintain it through all that is impressive. Less impressive when we were winning titles as it’s the minimum you’d expect to not lose when winning at home.

Someone told me it's PL only so great to hear that it's all competitions. Honestly I don't think we've lost many games when winning at HT away from home either. I remember it was Leicester 5-3 in 2014 and then City last year after almost full 10 years.
