I wouldn't read anything into it. Giving minutes to Missin, Lacey and Thwaites. JJ and Thompson played the full 90 if I remember correctly, so might be why they are the ones to make way.
 
Any word on Ajayi? Was hoping he’d be involved with the U21s this season but I haven’t really seen much of him during the preseason.
 
Great to see Munro back.

Good seeing Ibragimov not injured this season start and fit. He missed so many games past few years, lets hope this season he has a more game time.

Mantato being fit is also great!

Noah Ajayi must be injured I assume?
 
Excellent goal, drifts in off the right and smashes it into the bottom corner form outside the box.

Another in this group who is too good for this level, but nice to see him get minutes if he doesn't play in the first team
 
Silver lining of the Amad injury is that hopefully Lacey gets plenty of minutes in the next month or so.
 
Lacey is definitely ready to be part of our squad. Needs to wait for his chance and then take it. I was unsure of him last season but I've seen enough now to think that he can get into our squad this season. Would be good to have some pressure on Amad on the right wing.
 
Such a shame for Missin he's been oustanding. Just can't seem to catch a break with injuries.
 
Missin off injured. Thompson replaced him.

Shame for Missin, he has ability. Hopefully nothing too serious
 
Besides Chido Obi, do we have any “classical” CFs built like Sesko in our Academy?
What I’m asking is…can any of our Academy players be “target” players that hold the ball up?
 
This set of players is good. Who knew that U-21 football could be as enjoyable as this?
 
Jack Fletcher is silky but looks quite slow and unathletic at this level. Worry for him in the PL.
 
JJ Gabriel seems to want to take the free kick instead of Thwaites. Some would say bad attitude, for a 15 year old it would be a healthy desire to want to score goals.
 
Lacey should be starting on the right, not Mbeumo.

Yeah. Its not normally quite that bad and Gabriel obviously makes a great initial turn and then does well dribbling away from the defender who is already far away... Other than flying into a slide tackle I doubt he makes it anyway, but you could question why he didnt do that when hes a defender. But the goalkeeper being stuck to his line makes it look comical. After Gabriel's 2nd touch the keeper should already be closing him down. e takes a third and sets himself to shoot and the goalkeeper still hasnt confronted him.

By anyways yep, good skill etc

However im remembering at this level Charlie McNeill scored hundreds of goals, Fabio once chipped the goalie, Ethan Wheatley looks good but when they make it to men’s football only a lucky few will make it in the PL, nevermind at United. Fingers crossed for JJ

Oh sure but I think the key difference here is how young JJ is and the level of skill he’s pulling

McNeill scored 11 non-penalty goals in 55 appearances at this level. He was terrible.

A 15 year old performing at League Two would be exceptional.

Correct I was thinking of his underage levels where he scored over 600 goals, and his u18 record where he scored 23 in 21 matches.

Or Joe hugill who is United’s 3rd top scorer in academy history at that level with 31 goals in 59 matches

Not saying that JJ isn’t on track to beat his record, perhaps even beat it soundly, but let’s calm down a bit

It certainly would and there’d be a clamour to sign such a kid. But then they’d go to the academy to prove themselves, they wouldn’t be anywhere near 1st team at aged 15. This is my point, United fans we get a bit overly excited at the idea of a new wonder kid coming through the ranks. And that’s great, it gives a bit of excitement. But it’s not realistic to expect them to be chucked into men’s football before they are ready.

Look at the comments on some of fhose clips, they are trying to pressure the club into playing him
 
Obviously the right thing to do is to hold him back for at least another year, and then bleed him in slowly. He’s so young. But the talent is undeniable. It’s very feasible for him to be making the odd sub appearance at 16, and 17, and be breaking into match day squads regularly at 18. Very few players can do that, but he has that “it” factor. Just isn’t ready physically, or even close.
