I really hate to be one of those guys, but, you could have said the same thing about many managers before they got their big break. Guardiola before becoming Barcelona manager would have been quantified as "mediocre" by some similar to when Mourinho was hired by Benfica. I am in no way shape or form saying Carrick is comparable to Guardiola though, my point is its a little early to be calling Carrick "mediocre" and "not a top manager currently" when we really don't know yet. He could be amazing or he could be crap. Its the intangibles that make a manager great or just good, and we haven't really seen whether Carrick has that extra 1% that's the difference.
Be the 1% is more apt. Probably much lower in reality.

It’s just weird how you’ll call Carrick mediocre but seem to be quite defensive when it comes to the worst ever manager in our history, statistically (I don’t hate him, by the way), let alone the last twelve years.
And at the same time the reality where you think Amorim could have changed that. Its fascinating.
I thought he was very unlucky within games, Never seen a manager be so.unlucky within games when we hammered teams but got no reward.
He was starting to change the culture too, ditching the bad apples He made mistakes, Mainoo's lack.of playing time was a mistake but I dont think he was all bad.
This idea he needs to be booed or made out to be the bad guy is not something that interests me.
Well, he got himself sacked by throwing a strop, so I can't argue against him getting rid of the bad apples here.
