Lammens, Cunha and Mainoo likely back for this. Probably the midfield three that will start the PL starting here in Santos, Tielemans and Bruno.

Think with Mounts injury we’ll see Tielemans start.

Lammens
Dalot - Yoro - Maguire - Shaw
Tielemans - Santos
Amad - Bruno - Dorgu
Mbeumo

Leeds will be as far along as us in their prep. Less player at the World Cup I assume so maybe even further ahead. Should be another decent test. Hopefully we get through it without any injuries. I was thinking I might take my nephew along to this

I suspect we'll rotate the team a bit for this one, with the players who have started all the games only being on the bench. Spread the minutes around so that the players who have been on the bench the last two games play most of this one.

Yep, agreed on the midfield and attack. Not sure on the defence - Heaven may well keep his spot despite the couple of rash moments today.

But I expect that front six to be starting for the Leeds game and likely the first PL game.

Looks like this one is a sell out , 80 thousand or so capacity I believe. Hopefully we will see near enough the team that will start against Hull.

Please no more Dorgu on the LW this preseason, he's only a squad player right now in that position, and I hope he's not starting against Hull.

So glad to hear - Sesko must be closer to fitness, if he's travelling

De Ligt is also travelling though and I seriously doubt he's anywhere near a return. Hope Sesko is involved but right now I'm assuming he won't be in the squad

We already knew that, right? He'll hardly be ready for the start of the season. Probably come on as a sub against either Hull or Ipswich.

Apologies if not the right place to ask but anyone know if there's any specific Dublin pubs/bars hosting United fans beforehand or just a bit of a free for all?

You don't think he will start Mainoo first PL game? Was ever present under Carrick last season.

I think we'll just go with the players who have had more pre-season with us, so it'll be Santos and Tielemans (or Santos and Mount but that's less likely). Mainoo will be behind the others following his vacation so will be eased in with sub appearances.

I wouldn't have a problem with Sesko missing the first few PL matches -- against Hull and Ipswich -- to allow him to completely put his issue to bed. Mbeumo has more than enough in his boots at striker to get us through, and it would allow Amad to get the starts that he's done more than enough to deserve so far.

The more interesting question is who Carrick starts with Bruno -- Santos and Tielemans, Santos and Mainoo, Tielemans and Mainoo, or one of those three with Mount? Still early days as we haven't Mainoo yet, but I'll say Santos and Tielemans. With Martinez coming back so late and having done a thigh muscle, we shouldn't expect to see him until mid-September. The joys of having decent (but still not adequate) squad depth, and starting against newly promoted clubs.

The rest picks itself:

Lammens
Dalot Maguire Heaven Shaw
? ?
Amad Bruno Cunha
Mbeumo

To be fair Tielemans is only 30 minutes ahead of him in terms of pre season

In terms of matches, yes, but not training - he joined about a week before so has had additional training sessions as well as the individual fitness assessments they do when players return to the squad post vacation.

Oh no, they referred to my one club city team by the city name despite the fact that nobody ever calls them anything else. How dare they!

Has anybody ever heard Leeds referred to as United because I haven't? Sheffield United fair enough but little Leeds and little Newcastle need to get over it.

I think it'll be Santos and Tielemans starting. Mainoo's a week behind so makes sense to ease him in as he gets some match fitness back - plus we know what he can do, and he knows the team already. Create some pre-season chemistry and momentum with Santos and Tielemans ready for the first couple league games with Kobbie adding fresh legs as a sub. Then we'll likely slip into some rotation between the three of them once the season's properly underway.

Wouldn't surprise me if Dorgu starts over Cunha in the first couple of games either due to his physicality and work rate off the ball, as well as being a bit further ahead in terms of pre-season. Amad at RW, Mbeumo up top and Bruno at ten are nailed on.

I could see Dorgu getting the start, especially given the quality of the opposition in our first two matches, but a wild card that can't be completely rule out yet is:

Marcus Rashford

We know all about the drama, but Carrick may want to give Rashford an opportunity either to prove to clubs who have the cash that he's worth the 30m or so we demand for him plus of course his wages. And if no one makes an offer (due to his wages) then on its merits it does make more sense to start Rashford over Dorgu. Rashford didn't over-exert himself at the WC and, stated again, the first two opponents are fairly tame by PL standards and what better way to get Rashford off to a flying start than against cannon fodder like Hull and Ipswich. And before anyway suggests we shouldn't take Hull and Ipswich for granted, the idea is to unleash Marcus Rashford on them, not JJ Gabriel.

That is, if Cunha needs additional time to work his way into the mix.
