Am I mis-remembering but didn't managers used to resign when they were doing a shite job? Nowadays with big contracts and payoffs it rarely happens. Then again, the only one that springs to mind is Keegan resigning from England because he thought he was fecking it up. Who else did the decent thing and resigned for being shite?

Didn’t Klopp resign from Dortmund? They were doing gash, but he wasn’t sacked.

Why would you not get a pay off?
it is whatever is in the contract. But clearly it makes sense that if an employee gives notice then you get paid tat notice period (and essentially get out on gardening leave), and this period will likely be far less than the duration of the contract.

hence why the likes of Jose hang on when clearly he doesn’t want to be in the job anymore - waiting for the payoff. For the sake of a few weeks doing a job you hate, the multimillion payoff is worth the pain.
