Thought the match was today at 6 pm and was wondering why there were no lineups in the thread and why the thread was pretty quiet. I am two days early
I made the same mistake. Was really looking forward to it too!

Only real wonder for me is will James/ Martial be fit enough for the bench. Hopefully we won't need either off the bench in the final but would be good to get minutes into them if needed.
As long as we win this game with the strongest XI possible, we could make big changes against Wolves on the last day. Hopefully James, Martial and Maguire have a chance to play a part in that game before the final.
Martial and James in training today. No sign of Maguire yet.

We need a win to bring that positive momentum into the cup final. The last 2 defeats have been particularly painful to swallow. Especially against Liverpool.

the thought of seeing a MCFred midfield again is dispiriting

Think we might go Pogba/Fred midfield and be a bit more attacking.

I'd like to see Rashford/Fernandes/Greenwood/Cavani as our front 4, I think that's our best attack we can put out.

Really depends on what Pogba turns up though, if he's in a casual mode we will get walked through.

He hasn’t been in casual mood. Best player by a mile in our last few games.

If anything Bruno has been off the boil for the last few weeks, Rash injured and looking lacklustre, our CBs can’t find consistency and a midfield that can hardly find each other if they were holding hands

He was VERY casual away against Roma. I'm talking about him being in CM, not on the wing.

Go full strength with this in order to keep them sharp for EL finals. Then, can have the fringe players for Wolves.

Would like to see Martial & Amad get some minutes off the bench if we are in a position to do so.

    Henderson
    AWB Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    Fred
    Fernandes Pogba
    Greenwood Cavani Rashford

    NO RASHFORD ON THE RIGHT!

In a game that was won at home where he was outstanding.
Where he plays is down to the coach
Eh? he was dreadful that night. He can't be putting in a performance like that again in CM. It's exactly why he's been pushed onto the wing.

Defensively he gets dribbled past too easily, but on the ball obviously he's a level up.

This, with De Gea for Henderson. And happy that Martial and James are back, we could go with a Amad-Martial-James attack for the second half.

With Martial, James back and reading between the lines of Solskjaers press conference.

Both to be brought on tomorrow night and then starting against Wolves on Sunday. Ole has also hinted the team that starts v Fulham will be the team that starts the Europa league final minus Maguire of course if he makes it.

Hopefully put on a show for the fans, then let everyone on the plane next week off on Sunday, even Ole.

You want to rest... the manager?

Is that even a thing that can be done?
That would be extremely disrespectful. Ole resting / preparing for a final while sending Carrick to manage the Wolves game  :nono:

Rest Ole, Carrick and McKenna. Judge can be the manager of the team for the day.

I reckon whoever starts tomorrow will be our starting XI for the final, with Maguire being an exception as these players will most likely be rested on the weekend

Well, I wasn't completely serious with that, but it can be done, pretty sure Sir Alex missed a match a long time ago.
Didn’t he miss a couple of games? I remember wasn’t one due to a family wedding & the other a scouting trip?

Fergie also missed a pre-season game because he was moving to a new house with his wife. He’s missed a few games but most of them, if not all, during pre-season.

Momentum is a big thing , we need to get back to winning ways and get some confidence going. Villareal are a very good side with great exeprience and we have to be at our best

Think it's important to win here after the last few results.

    ----------------------------------Henderson---------------------------
    AWB--------------------Bailly----------------Lindelof------------------Shaw
    ------------------------------Fred-------------Pogba---------------------------
    Greenwood--------------------Bruno-------------------------Rashford
    --------------------------------------Cavani-----------------------------------

Basically play the same team against Wolves that started against Leicester.

I would like Henderson and Fred dropped. Neither deserves to be in the team after that Liverpool match

Am guessing this will be our last televised game of the season - no reason for them to cover our last game. they'll go for City and any two games that affect CL positions. Maybe us if all those are settled by the weekend... gone for 3-0 win, which should ensure a rubbish game and a 1-1 draw :wenger:

Then no one will watch, City don't have many fans and the fans they do have (very few) can't afford TVs/sky/bt.

It'll be a big win today, the players are going to want to put on a show for the fans. Going to be a goal fest.
Hopefully the fans' presence gives us a good adrenaline boost at the start and we have some fun. There's very little pressure on the match so I think it's quite possible they relax and enjoy themselves.

Hopefully, the return of the fans helps the players put on a strong performance tonight. Neither side has anything to play for, but we could use a win to help us back on track after two successive defeats.

    Yeah, I'm feeling this one.

    4-0 United.
