Just drop the underperforming, spineless players, and play those who haven’t been given a chance and will at least guarantee 100% effort. If possible, let’s go with a bit of pace as well. As with all world class teams, Liverpool are very fast. We’ll probably lose, hopefully not handsomely as they have not impressed me at all compared to the likes of City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, but at least do the fans proud and have a go.

    Heaton
    Dalot Bailly Varane Malacia
    Fred Martinez
    Sancho Eriksen Garnacho
    Martial

1-3 Liverpool. The most important thing is that #EmptyOldTrafford goes through anyway. Could become a very poignant, significant moment in our recent history should the Scousers be the only set of fans in Old Trafford.

So is it back to McFred or will EtH try Eriksen out of position again? We are really, really screwed in midfield. At the moment any of Pogba, Matic, Herrera, would do wonders.

United are losing this game one way or another its just a question of by how many goals.

If Rashford, Maguire Shaw and Fernandes are dropped then the margin of defeat wont be so bad.

If they play then you can expect the same old same old garbage from us where we will be roasted.

    1) How on earth would anyone know that?

    2) Why would he drop Maguire when he's arguably been our best defender so far?
Because Maguire has also been poor and is a worse player than Varane is and his lack of pace impedes our ability to defend with a high line.
Luckhurst wouldn't know it, though I guess someone might leak some training partnerships and lineups. Guess the assumption is Martinez is starting though it could be Maguire and Lindelof starting!

As much as I want us to get something out of this game I can`t really see it. My biggest fear is conceding early and then collapsing and having to watch us getting pulled apart without putting up a fight.

Lunatics still trying to run the asylum, hope ten Hag tells them were to go.

We will forever be stuck in a pragmatic approach because we don’t want to deal with the pains of building towards something more expansive. No matter who we buy or who manages us, there are weird forces at this club making sure we persist with shit on a stick football.

Does ETH abandon his principles for this opponent and have us sit back and counter? It seems our only hope of getting a point. Get this match behind us, then dig in and try to force these misfit players to play his brand of football.

Enough of this pessimistic crap. We are Man United. I expect us to win. I accept no excuses and I sure am not going to take the pressure off the team to win by giving them any.

But we have been defending with a high line, and have done so throughout all of pre-season with Maguire in the team.

Be a strange time to take him out, given most of the goals we've conceded haven't been as a result of playing a high line, but more so silly mistakes from individuals.

That being said, I personally believe the best idea would be to put all of them together in a back three. Having no specialist holding midfielder, our midfield is extremely light, which leaves our defence exposed. With three at the back, it would give us that extra bit of security.

He'd be a fool not to really given Liverpool have struggled twice against it so far. Play compact, play the hard workers and just try to keep in the game.

    <a href="http://sharemytactics.com/183053/" title="Click to view tactic">Manchester United - Football tactics and formations

Anything other than 3 at the back against Liverpool is wrong. Forget us being a big club with history. We can not impose our style against Brighton and Brentford, forget doing it against Liverpool even if they are not at their best (and please forget preseason).

we played 3 at the back with Ole in big games, fans did not enjoy the show, but we managed to get results.

drop Dalot, AWB is not perfect, but at least he can defend.

shaw should be dropped. Malacia, in the 10 minutes he played showed better spirit than the whole team.

3 at the back. Maguire in there as I think he can play better in a back 3.

VDB in midfield. I could not make myself include fred or scot. No way. Enough.

up front, well, what other options we have?

with this formation, we might lose by a small margin. With 433 or 4231, we’ll get hammered.
