Considering we’re not challenging for the title I expect us to put a relatively strong strong spine out to ensure we win this game in an attempt to win a trophy.

Providing we’re a few goals up we can bring off the likes of Mata, Sanchez and Lukaku after an hour

    Romero

    Dalot Darmian Jones Young

    Fellaini Fred

    Mata Andreas Sanchez

    Lukaku

Would be nice to see Gomes get more than a cameo.

Are Reading shite as I expect? If so, hopefully should give some prospects a chance.

Exactly. If they can't get a game against bottom of the 2nd division Reading, then they'll never play this season. The mistake LVG did against MK Dons was putting 3 youngsters in the back line, 2 of which weren't good enough period. No idea what LVG was thinking there.

Should be enough to deal with Reading. I dont want to see Pogba or Matic on the bench. Both deserve a rest. Sanchez and Lukaku should play a full 90, they need the fitness. I would prefer Greenwood to start over Chong. Greenwood has that special aura about him. The way Sancho did at City he was easily their best prospect ahead of Foden. Garner should get a game at DM, if he performs he could become a decent option to rest Matic as the season progresses. Dalot is brilliant and I dont want to see Valencia in a United shirt again whatever the game. Williams is also in, Jones is such an injury risk and we have no CBs available so I dont want him to start.

    There is an argument that this 2nd team might be better than the first;

Hopefully some of our CB are back

    Romero
    Dalot - Jones - Rojo - Darmian
    Fellaini
    Fred - Perrera
    Mata - Lukaku - Alexis

IMO this is the team we need to play at spurs so rest as much as you can

    DDG
    Young - Lindeloff - someone - Shaw
    Herrera - Matic
    Lingard - Pogba - Martial
    Rashford

If Sanchez and or Alexis plays a blinder there may be hope for them to start at Spurs..

Back 5 is about resting players as much as much
Romero instead of De Gea to keep him interested
    Dalot needs game time
    Darmian provides stability other side
Rojo and Smalling might be fine or one of those and the best defensive youth prospect, although that feels risky with what I want going forward.

Perreria has to get a game unless he is definitely leaving then there is maybe Fellaini instead or Garner.

    Fred needs a game

I'd go Chong right, Sanchez left, Lukaku and Greenwood up top. That keeps the emphasis on attack and balances out the youth

Bench pretty strong one, but Gomes as well for if we start well.

So Grant, Gomes, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Young, Lindelof

That gives us plenty of quality on the bench to recover the game with hopefully enough talent on the pitch to do well.

A slight gamble, but resting players ahead of Spurs is important and if you can't give a chance against Reading then who can you...!

Score a few goals and then bring the younger players on.

I think Jones is more likely to start ahead of Lindelof. Lindelof has played four consecutive full games in 11 days. I don't see him starting an FA cup game three days later, especially when we will be playing against Spurs next week.

Im scared Jones will injure himself.

I just hope we can get through this game with little trouble.

Sanchez and Lukaku need the minutes, and to show us some leadership and inspiration for the team. I personally would also consider Lindgard and Martial, but to be honest, getting Andreas to have a run out is also a good thing. Mata may like this game.

Play some youngsters, of course.... But, we are still a bit fragile and finding our way, and we certainly cannot take anything for grabted.

We need our main men for our top 4 challenge so just play 2 or 3 of the youngsters and then those who need game time.

I'll be dissapointed if Greenwood doesn't get any substantial time

Probably expecting that the experienced Evans would provide some leadership and not shit himself and play worse than the mediocre youngsters.

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:
“Rojo and Smalling are out. I’m not sure if Paul [Pogba] is going to be ready, he got a knock against Newcastle and hopefully Fellaini will get through the session today it’s more or less a full squad."

    A chance for fringe players?

“Definitely, there’ll be a few changes to the team and they’ll get a chance. Some of them are itching now to play of course, get Lukaku a start, get Sanchez a start, that’s important for them because they need more game time.”
Only Rojo and Smalling are out.

Pogba and Fellaini are the other two concerns.

    Bailly is red card suspension.

    Like to see this.

    Romero
    Dalot -- Lindelof -- Darmian -- Young(C)
    Fred -- McTominay -- Fellaini
    Pereira -- Lukaku -- Sanchez

Subs: Greenwood, Gomes, Chong, Mata, Garner, Jones, Grant
The others badly need a rest, looks so knackered, especially Herrera, Matic and Rashford. No choice that Lindelof have to play.

FA Cup is the best chance trophy we could get this season.
Strong starting 11, get the results early, kill the games quickly, then send all the kids in.

Play a strong team, it's our last realistic shot at a trophy. They have a week off and 4 days in Dubai to recharge anyway.

If we start well and go 3 up, then you can give Greenwood, Chong or Gomes 30-40 minutes.

It's probably the first time in 5 years I'm confident we could rotate our 11 and still win. Jose often had to resort to bringing on our best players to try snatch it. Or worse, lose.

I reckon we always planned to rest Pogba for this one and the club is using it to get behind Pogba over this indecent and make a point to Mariner and the FA that we're now missing a player because of his absolutely pathetic control over the Newcastle players in that game.

Don't risk anyone with a knock. We need everyone fit to challenge for fourth. Would play like this:

    Romero
    Darmian - Lindelof - Jones - Shaw
    Pereira - McTominay - Fred
    Chong - Lukaku - Sanchez

There's enough quality and experience in that side to win comfortably while also giving some young/fringe players a chance to show themselves.

We shouldn’t be playing Gomes as a forward ahead of the actual forwards also knocking on the door in the youth team. I’d be disappointed if he starts on the wing ahead of Chong.

Not sure how the mirror know the squad, but there is no mention of Greenwood.

I thought OGS said specifically that he would play? I'd be very dispointted if he didn't as there was no mention of him being injured in the press conference
I believe the paper which said something like ole tells greenwood to be ready (it was only Click bait and nothing in the article suggested anything like that) was mirror or daily mail and the paper you're reading the story from is mirror. So If you put 2 and 2 together you get these papers are rubbish, you should be smart and not pay attention.

Heard rumours TFM might be recalled? Would be ideal if Dalot is injured and to give Lindelof a rest.
