Think we'll put out a stronger team throughout the 90 rather then make wholesale changes at half. Can't wait for this though, will be right behind the net in the united fan section too

De gea
Smalling Jones Evans
Valencia fletcher Herrera Shaw
Mata
Welbeck Rooney

Wouldn't surprise me to see Kagawa start in the midfield trio somewhere though.

Fletcher, Evans and Young played 90 mins so they likely won't start against Real

De Gea; Smalling--Evans--Jones; Valencia--Fletcher--Herrera--Shaw/James; Mata; Rooney--Welbeck

I wouldn't be surprised to see Fletcher + Evans on the bench due to 90 minutes tonight.

I would give Herrera, Mata, Rooney + Welbeck at least 60 mins.

Then again Shaw wasn't supposed to play due to heavy training so he might miss this one with James starting and Young coming on for him.

Gonna be a huge test for the back 3. Expecting to see us concede 2 or 3.

Early team prediction:

------------ Welbeck - Rooney -------------
------------------- Mata --------------------
Shaw ---- Herrera - Cleverley ---- Valencia
-------- Evans - Smalling - Keane --------
------------------ De Gea -------------------

2-1 Madrid. Can't see our defence being strong enough to contain Ronaldo, sadly.

I think we only go out if Roma beat Inter (or vice versa) in normal time and we lose to Madrid in normal time. One thing I'm unsure on however, is if head-to-head or Goal Difference is the first tie-breaker on teams tied for points.

For example, if Roma beat Inter to go to 6 points, and we then lost the shootout after a draw with Madrid, Roma have the better GD but we beat them in our match... I assume if the answer isn't out there already it'll be mentioned during the game.

We'd probably play City in the final, so it'd be a good test, but as mentioned already, I'm not sure if LvG would really want the extra game when we have Valencia at OT so close to the start of the season anyway. I'm sure he wishes he were back in Manchester already concentrating on training and signing the players he requires.

If they have Ronaldo and Bale, then it's going to be difficult for us and they will score - but at the same time, they've looked average in their performances so far, so I think we'd get a goal too.

As for the team:

de Gea
Smalling Jones Evans
Valencia Cleverley Herrera Shaw
Mata
Welbeck Rooney

Lindegaard
Jones Keane Blackett
Valencia Fletcher Herrera Young
Kagawa
Zaha Hernandez

Fletcher, Evans, Young played 90 minutes against Inter, so I'd be more inclined to expect 45 from them in this game, with 2-3 different players playing the full 90 this time.

James will probably get game time if he isn't injured, with Nani/Lingard also having a chance of playing (probably with Herrera getting subbed and Kagawa playing next to Fletcher).

Ancelotti said that Ronaldo might make an appearance in this, hope he does really. Won't be anywhere near his best or full fitness but I'd love it if he got subbed on.

This is the true acid test for LVG to see what kind of squad he has to deal with, how they play against world class opposition.

Are Gareth Bale & Ronaldo playing? It will be interesting to see them test our wing back with their pace.

Bale, Alonso, Pepe, Contrao,Ramos played in the first half yesterday. That's who I remember. Bale played for about 60mins. Ronaldo was on the bench and did not play.

I have a feeling that we will lose this and it will spark a wave of complaining and bad will against LVG and not buying players....

For the first time in a while, I really hope we win this pre-season game, and actually wish we had picked simpler games.

On a seperate note, how am I able to post on this page?

Well Roma was quite a good test, they are a top class team with some excellent players and they beat Madrid yesterday, so you can't say this is the true acid test so to speak. Still a pre season friendly.

Jones in front of a back 3, DDG over by the right corner flag, love the innovations.

Why would we change it just because we're facing Real Madrid? It's a pre season friendly anyways, we don't need to park the bus just because they have a few world class players. We've looked better then them these last few games anyways.
